House in Paredes de Coura, Costa Verde, Portugal - Peaceful Location, Nearby Camino Santiago And Corno Do Bico
Romantic place for a couple at Paredes de Coura. The whole house is on one level. It is a house suspended on pillars, some higher than others. It has a nice size, a 80m2 house, the living room is open space with the kitchen, then on the right of the house there is a toilet and the bedroom. In the morning you wake up with the sun in your face...and the beautiful green all around. Paredes de Coura is in the middle of old fashioned typical unspoilt portuguese nature and it is amazing for walks in the nature, with Corno do Bico, right nearby, and for sun and water bathing at the beach river, well known for its beauty.

A wonderful experience
We came across House of Brezo quite by accident, but what a find! Amazing eco timber house set in it's own large grounds, totally peaceful but only a few miles to the shops & fitted out to a very high standard. The balconies around the property are wonderful with excellent views of the local countryside & so private, equally great to chill out or as a base to explore the area. Lots of information provided about local walks (there's a beautiful one to a waterfall nearby), restaurants & things to do. Susana & Miguel are very welcoming & take great pride in their property, their communications were great & we were made to feel at home from the beginning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & will be returning! Darrell & Hilary.
We stayed here for a wonderful week in July 2014. The house is so beautiful and our time was so special we almost hesitated in writing a review as we want to come back and are tempted to keep this place a secret!
The house is stunning, practically a glass house with glorious shafts of light . However it was never hot thanks to the ingenious bamboo that grows in planters around the wrap-around deck, and the water system that keeps the house cool (and yellow flowers growing on the roof!).
The hosts (who are lovely and gracious) have impeccable taste and have furnished the place with great elegance and care. It really feels more like a home than a place you would rent. They provided lots of useful information about nearby attractions.
Everything was provided with lovely kitchen equipment, elegant linens, a bbq ... you name it.
The area itself is lush and lovely. Beaches are less than an hour away. We especially enjoyed nearby riverside towns like Ponte de Lima.
The food in this part of Portugal is superb - especially seafood, which is incredibly fresh and very, very affordable.
You definitely need a car here as it's essentially a hamlet and the nearest shop is a 10 minute drive.
All in all we have a perfect week of total relaxation, tranquility and calm.
This place is just what all the other reviews reflected, no lies ! For those who seek relaxation and nature, this is the place to be. The house is a gem, clean, well equipped, modern and offering the most fantastic views and breathtaking sunsets. What a location ! Be aware though that the house is situated in a rural and mountainous part of the Costa Verde, your driving skills are being tested here. But once you get the hang of it and taking into account you can drive for kilometers and kilometers without oncoming traffic, the itineraries as proposed by Susana are a must do !
In fact, all proposals for trips and journeys as proposed by Susana are worthwhile. We made a day trip to Bayona (passing Castro de Santa Tegra), Ponte de Lima, Corne de Bico, Portuguese beaches...
Routes all well described on the maps and information left by Susana and Miguel in the house.
Susana and Miguel, thank you so much for sharing your passion for the Minho and letting us enjoy your house.
We have definitely found our place to reload the batteries ....
We certainly landed on our feet when we chose this as our preferred location for a late break to Portugal. The accommodation was as described, if not better. A wonderful setting just outside Paredes (itself functional rather than attractive - 2 supermarkets and an excellent bakery/cafe). Central for a number of nearby attractions - beaches, walks, hilltop villages.
Susana and Miguel could not have been more welcoming or accommodating and the quality of the information supplied and advice given surpassed anything we have experienced before. We spent two weeks here and were sorry to leave. It provided an excellent balance between on site relaxation in the garden and terraced area and day trips (Porto and Spain - Baiona) and half day excursions (Ponte De Lima, Praia de Paco, Valenca, to name but a few). You need a car to get around but the roads are narrow and winding so you don't want a big car by any means.
No hesitation in recommending this accommodation to couples who enjoy a little relaxation and comfort with some touring around.
