Overview

Property

Updated: 14-Nov-2016
Cottage in Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Secluded And Minutes Walk To Its Own Beach

The Stables is a self catering coastal cottage overlooking the sea on the Pembrokeshire coast. It is secluded and is surrounded by 70 acres of its own farmland. There are panoramic views over the sea and up the Preseli mountains from most of the rooms. There are two bathrooms, underfloor heating and the style is 'rustic coastal'. It is private and has lots of space for kids to play safely. The farm was a location for the Moby Dick film directed by John Huston in 1956.

Location

From the Owner

We spent our childhoods in North Pembrokeshire and were very lucky to buy Ffynnonofi in 2001. As soon as we saw this place we were completely blown away. The seclusion, the lay of the land and the views of the sea and Preselis make it very special.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Our beach is a 5 minute walk across the fields. It is a slate and rock beach in a dramatic setting. It is secluded and empty most of the time. It is safe for swimming. There are several sandy beaches a few minutes drive away.

Travel:

We are 4 miles from Fishguard Harbour train station. The nearest airport is Cardiff.

Distances:

We are 1 mile from Dinas Cross village and 3 miles from Newport and Fishguard.

Further Details:

The Stables is ideally located for some of the highlight spots in the North Pembs National Park. You are close to the sea and the Preseli mountains. There is a beach pub and restaurant just 15 minutes walk across our field and down the coastal path and two pubs in the village. There are a couple of mini markets for basics in the village and Newport has a great butchers and organic health food shop. There is a supermarket in Fishguard.

Pony trekking for adults and children nearby.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The Stables is rustic with white washed walls, stone and wood floors. The cottage is well insulated and heated by electricity from renewable sources. We charge our guests (at a discounted rate) for electricity via an eco meter, so you pay for how much you use. Outside: The farm is surrounded by 70 acres of sheep and pony grazing land. Visitors can walk through the fields but we ask them to to make sure they close the gates. It is a few minutes walk to the Pembrokeshire coastal path. There is a large fenced garden immediately around the Stables for children to play safely. There are sitting areas facing the sea and on the south side facing up the mountains. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We provide bedding linen but not towels and the property is cleaned weekly if guests require it Other: There is a south facing conservatory (the old piggery) with additional farmhouse style dining table with double glass doors which leads out to a sitting area and pergola. Great place for breakfast and lunch. The views up the Preselis is fabulous!
