Cottage nr Usk, Between Monmouth and Chepstow, Monmouthshire, South Wales - Peaceful Location At The End Of A No Through Road
Inside the cottage there are three bedrooms. The first is a canopied king size bed with two side bedside tables, two bedside lamps, feather duvet, four pillows, wonderful view, wardrobe, long framed wall mirror, bedroom chair and an ensuite shower room. Towels and linen are included. Bedroom two is the elephant room, so called because there are several elephant pictures and a number of model elephants decorating the room. The twin beds are electric to make reading in bed a real luxury and the bed heads are antique and match a small cupboard in the room. In addition there is a large chest of drawers, a bedside cupboard, two lamps, towels, linen, feather duvets and a clothes hanging facility on the back of the door. This room has an ensuite bathroom with opening window to the front. Bedroom three has twin beds a lovely view and is refreshingly decorated in blue and white. In addition there is a large bookcase for clothes storage, a bedside cupboard, a touch lamp, towels, linen, feather duvets, a bedroom chair and a couple of rather nice pictures on the wall. This room is not ensuite but the family bathroom is very nearby. The kitchen is equipped with microwave, electric cooker, fridge freezer, coffee machine, toaster, electric kettle, dishwasher, cafetière and a wonderful view! There is a utility room that has a washing machine and airer and a combi boiler for unlimited hot water. This is also a very good space for dogs and there is a child gate to stop the dogs going further into the cottage when wet or muddy.
The lounge has a woodburning stove which is ready laid for you on your arrival and there is a basket of kindling and logs for future fires. The two sofas are white leather and have electric reclining seats. Further furniture includes a large coffee table, side tables, two dressers, solid wood dining table and six chairs. Inside the cupboards are numerous books, DVDs, CDs, games and rackets. There is a cd/radio/iPod player with remote control and table linen, wine bottle holder, candle sticks and candles and silk flowers in vases as well as several ornaments.
Outside there is a large stoned patio area with a paved patio within it and a gazebo over it to give shelter and shade to the outside wood table and six chairs. Around this patio are triangular flower tubs and small trees in pots. There are full size cushions for each of the chairs. Weather permitting, there is a badminton net set up on the back lawn and swingball. For those who like outside cooking there is a barbecue and there is a washing line in the side garden. The whole area of the burrow is fenced and gated and is a very reasonable size for children and dogs.
The location of The Burrow is handy for several golf courses including the famous Celtic manor and Alice springs. For the gourmet there are a number of reputable eateries including The Walnut Tree, The Hardwick and The Black Bear. Wales is well known for its castles and so there are many to see, one of the best is Raglan Castle which is just a few miles away. The Big Pit is a favourite with our visitors and the hidden garden of dew stone is a must. The Forest of Dean offers all sorts of sporting opportunities including biking and pony trekking and if the weather is disappointing, there are sports centres and swimming pools in easy distance. For the fit and healthy, there are the mountains and beacons to climb and plenty of easier walks along the canals for those who prefer a gentler form of exercise. Cardiff, Newport, Bristol, Abergavenny, Monmouth and Chepstow to mention a few, are all within easy reach for a little stroll round the shops, museums, castles or to visit the cinema.
The beautiful and picturesque Wye valley is half an hour away and this is a super place to hire canoes and travel leisurely down the river, stopping off for lunch and finishing in the village for a sundowner and a meal.
The Burrow is the ideal place for children and dogs. Fresh air, beautiful countryside, peace and quiet, this is what you can expect from this cottage. Families, couples, groups of friends can all be accommodated here. Coffee outside on the patio first thing in the morning or last thing at night watching the sun go down, will leave you with wonderful memories of a great holiday. We want all our guests to remember their stay as special and we will do everything we can to make sure it is.
Please contact me for a price if you want to stay longer than four days.

About Carole Lawrence
My name is Carole and my husband John and I have lived at The Warren, which is on the same land as The Burrow (W898) for 28 years. Previously, we lived in Muscat, Oman for 5 years and Oslo, Norway for 2. We thoroughly enjoyed living abroad but decided it was time to start a family and own our own property. We love the feeling of living in our own little world here at the end of a dead end country lane. As you meander down the lane you leave all the troubles of the world behind you. That feeling has never left us. Since living here we've had Ben (24) and Josephine (22) both having now flown the nest to follow their own paths. We thought our hidden world was worth sharing with others and hope, should you come to stay at The Burrow, that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Why Carole Lawrence chose Monmouthshire
We bought property in this area because it is beautiful and although we have a lovely feeling of space and remoteness, it is easy to get to all the important towns and cities that are needed in modern life.
What makes this cottage unique
We are happy to accommodate people touring on horseback or who want to ride out from here each day and sleep comfortably at night!

Wonderful retreat for Christmas
We were made very welcome and enjoyed a comfortable and cosy stay at The Burrow. Christmas day with the wood burner going was great and we enjoyed family time together and didn't miss the TV as there was a good selection of DVD. There was ample enclosed space for our Golden Retriever to run around (and watch the sheep) and the single track lane to the property is very quiet so it was no problem to take him a morning and evening walk. We would definitely recommend it for a get away from it all break.
last minute break!
Absolutely fabulous from start to finish , Carole & John were very helpful & accomadating ( very late booking !)as was biggles the dog , lovely well equipped cottage , gorgeous views , booked again for a longer stay ! Would definitely recommend beautiful !
Lovely accommodation with great views
Without satnav and relying on google map on mobile which lost signal near the property, we did have a problem finding it. However, once we got there all was well! This is a wonderful place to de-stress, with all the comforts of home and our dogs enjoyed the large garden. Carole was very helpful.
We had a delicious meal at the Greyhound pub and nearby Usk is our favourite place to visit.
My stay would have been perfect if I got a double bed, like at home, instead of the single. Definitely intend to stay here again but for longer!
The Perfect Base for our Family Gatherings
We booked the Burrow for our family group of 6 adults and found it a very comfortable and relaxing base for our Easter break. We had 3 different family gatherings planned over the weekend. Our guests found the cottage easily and were as impressed as us by the spectacular views. Ocado delivered the food and drink, and the cottage kitchen was very well equipped to cater for feeding us all. There were 12 of us for one meal; the already large table had an extension and we easily fitted around it with a bit of assistance from Carole and John's chair supply. The cottage was clean, warm (thoroughly recommend using the woodburner for added cosiness) and quiet. Carole and John were friendly and welcoming; the wine on the patio after our 6 hour journey through Bank Holiday traffic was much appreciated!
Cosy Location for Family Gathering
Stayed over the half-term break with children, friends and grandparents. Space to run around. Plenty to see and do. Kitchen well supplied. Very peaceful when work had to be done. Despite remoteness the mobile signal was strong. Didn't need to pack so many jumpers as cottage heating is very efficient. Our hosts were very accommodating and helpful with all our extra requests.
Beautiful House, great hosts, amazing holiday!
The house is at the top of a hill with picturesque views and amazing sunsets. The hosts John and Carole live next door and were really helpful. The house itself was really lovely, plenty of room and nicely done out inside. There's a garden area with a fence bordering on fields. Sheep and cows came right up to the fence most days which was great for the kids. The location is pretty good for south wales attractions. Overall we had a really good time! don't go down the left fork when driving back down the hill! It turns into a mud track pretty quickly. The right fork is the proper road!
