Cute and cosy

  • 5 of 5

A gem of a property hidden on the outskirts on the trossachs. Lots of places easily accessible, hills to walk, mountains to climb, lochs to walk around. We saw deer from the back garden and plenty of birds. Easy to find and a 20 minute walk from aberfoyle.

Didn't know Scotland could be this beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The Hayloft in Aberfoyle is located at the base of a hill. I sat at this table and admired a wide variety of mature deciduous trees, some of which I hadn't seen since I was a child, growing up the slope in back. In mid-May the flowers were beautiful. The cottage is well-supplied with kitchen, laundry, and bath supplies, as well as a good selection of books and movies. Our hosts, the Parkers, were gracious and interesting and I wish we could have stayed longer. The Hayloft is walking distance from Aberfoyle which has shoppes cafes, a pub and a wool center. We would definitely stay here again.

Cosy and quaint

  • 4 of 5

The dog loved the garden so did we, also listening to the red deer in the evenings and watching the great spotted woodpecker on the bird feeder was a real joy. The hayloft is in a great central position for exploring the lovely countryside with its numerous locks rivers and forests.

A lovely peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We were welcomed to the property, and found a bottle of wine and shortbread sitting on the table. The garden was wonderful with access to a wood directly behind which provided a wonderful place for the dog to explore. Forest walks were within easy walking distance as well as good shops and places to eat. The garden was visited by numerous birds, including two different species of woodpecker. The accommodation was comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The bed was very comfortable. We had a very enjoyable long weekend.

Excellent location, lots of space

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Hayloft for a few days with two friends as we explored Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The location was great: the surrounding area is picturesque, there are many short walks nearby, and the drive to the longer walks was not difficult. There's a supermarket in Aberfoyle for supplies and it's an easy walk up the road to get dinner there. Dorothy was an excellent host, she was easy to get into contact with and between her messages and the information she left in the accommodation we had everything we needed for our stay. Her recommendations for restaurants and hikes really helped us get the most out of our trip.
