Villa in Jalon Valley, Costa Blanca North, Spain - Very Peaceful Location Yet Close To Many Typical Villages And Only A Short Drive To Popular Beaches

If you are looking for peace you have found it! The overwhelming feeling here is one of calm and tranquillity. The perfect escape from real life. There is only the noise of the birds and the smell of the neighbouring orange and almond blossom to bother you! There is a beautiful garden and patio area where you can relax and take in the breathtaking views with sun from sunrise to sunset. However, you are never too far from civilisation when you feel the need! There is a quality bar/restaurant within walking distance and a variety of typical Spanish towns and villages, with their narrow streets, cafés and restaurants, which can be found within a 10 minute drive. The villa is ideally located to explore the beautiful beaches and coastal areas of the Costa Blanca with the popular resorts of Javea, Gandia, Denia and Altea all easily reached in 25-45 minutes.

Please note that between June and October arrival days are either Saturday or Sunday and there is a minimum stay of 7 nights. Outside of these months, or if there is late availability, we are happy to be flexible to try to accommodate different arrival days and lengths of stay. Hi we're Katie & Darren and we hope you love our villa as much as we do.

In the UK we lead busy lives and our villa is our 'get away from it all as often as possible' place! It is our Spanish home, not just a holiday rental!

Why Katie chose Murla

When we first visited the property it was on a rare rainy day and we immediately fell for the view and decided that if it looked great on a rainy day how amazing it would be in the sun!

We were right - the view & outdoor space never fails to delight us! We love chilling out sitting on the terrace taking in the peaceful, beautiful surroundings. It's the perfect antidote to our busy lives back in the UK.

With so many different towns, villages, beaches, restaurants, cafés, coves and attractions, that can be reached within a short drive, we know we will never tire of visiting the area as there's always something else to discover. Our favourite city of Alicante is only an hour away and Benidorm with its kid friendly attractions is very appealing to our children!

Please note: there are two floors to the villa however the top floor is for the owners' use only (apart from the upstairs terrace which guests are free to use). The owners will never be there when there are guests, so you will have sole occupancy and can enjoy full privacy. The villa is not available during Dec & Jan. Arrival days Sat & Sun in peak Outside: Private 7m x 4m swimming pool with secluded patio areas. Sun loungers provided and use of upstairs sitting and dining area. Amazing views to be found from every angle! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen and towels are provided. Please bring beach towels as these are not included. There is no cleaning service during your holiday however this may be arranged if required. Other: Upstairs/first floor terrace with seating area and dining table which is reached via an external staircase. There is a flight of stairs to access the property. As previously stated, we do not recommend the villa for the infirm, toddlers or little children.

I don't need to say anymore other than the apartment has everything you need to have a lovely holiday, set in a wonderful peaceful location. The owners have thought of everything & are great at communicating & are extremely helpful. There is little point in repeating all the things said in other reviews (which are all true) so go for yourself to this gem of a property, a fantastic find!

One week stay April 2018

Good sized comfortable apartment and well maintained garden and pool with superb views across the valley. A car is essential but the location is good with easy access to Orba, Murla, Parcent, Alcalali and Jalon. The coast and Calpe is only about 15-20 mins drive. Built on a slope, there are plenty steps so might cause elderly some difficulty. We had a 3 yo with us with no problems at all but she was kept supervised. Pool safety is required but thats just commonsense and the case at all properties with pools. Weather had been poor in the run up to our stay so pool was cold, warmed up fine though after the sun had been on it for a couple of days. Plenty restaurants all around though many closed (during our stay at least) Sun and Mon. Indian at lhs entrance to Orba was open. Next time in area, we would return here if available.

Tranquillity

We stayed in early March and would highly recommend the villa. If you are seeking peace and quiet this is certainly the place to be, with the exception of sitting on the balcony listening to the birds singing at sunset in the nearby hillside trees ;-) = perfect.

The villa is a home from home with everything you could ask for and need; it is very comfortable and private.

You need a car but this is so simple from the airport and should not put anyone off. When we stayed the roads were very quiet, plus having a car opens up the whole region and there are some great places to visit from the mountains, beaches or even to the city (we drove about an hour to Xeraco train station and caught the train in to Valencia where we spent the day).

The correspondence and info provided in advance of our stay from Katie and Darren was excellent, plus the comments book and info folder in the villa provides some great ideas of where to go and what to do if you're short of ideas.

If you book this villa we doubt you'll be disappointed.

Idyllic peaceful Spanish retreat

This was our first self-catering family holiday in mainland Spain. Located roughly an hour's drive from Alicante airport the villa totally exceeded our (already high) expectations! Arranging car hire was no problem at all from the UK and pick up from the airport was simple. Within just a few minutes we were on the road. The main roads were all very easy so don't let having to hire a car put you off this beautiful property. The view from the villa is simply breathtaking. You could never tire of watching the sun rise and fall across the beautiful Val de Pop mountains. Our boys had lots of fun in the private pool and the large sun terrace was well equipped with sun loungers and BBQ facilities. The accommodation itself was spot on. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed to prepare and cook your own meals. We chose to eat in most evenings although there is a wide choice of restaurants within a short drive from the villa. There are several beautiful beach resorts within a 20 minute driving distance (approx), we especially enjoyed Calpe and Javea. At the local small town of Jalon there are lots of friendly cafes and a supermarket where you can get all of your provisions, this is only within a 5-10 minute drive. We enjoyed our stay here so much that we have booked to return!

Peaceful Jasmine Sanctuary

This was our first holiday for a very long time and we were looking for peace and quiet and a chance to re-charge batteries most of all. We chose the villa for the private pool, and countryside rather than seaside, in an area that we didn't know at all.

The villa is simple and charming and fine for a couple, though lots of families have stayed there too. It is actually the lower half of a house, and has sun most of the day filtered through palms and trees and jasmine, and the pool has sun until mid-evening. Garden is great and jasmine follows you everywhere. We were there Sept into October and in a year when mosquitoes were a big problem and so even though the weather was good we couldn't sit out in the evening, but we were just unlucky !

The owners have taken trouble to provide lots of entertainment equipment and so you can have evenings at home with music, films and TV. Locally there are some good restaurants including an Indian which offers a pick-up/drop-off service so you can have a beer or two. If you like a full English breakfast most cafes offer them. We explored down to the coast which out of season was lovely. Around the villa the mountains are wonderful, and the local villages and towns are delightful - Jalon 's Saturday market if you like a jumble-carboot-antique fair rummage is a must!

We enjoyed a very relaxing two weeks in Murla in a charming house and garden with the luxury of a private pool in sun all day.

Very Comfortable Stay

Dear Katie

We have had a lovely stay in your villa. We were very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. We appreciated the welcome items in the fridge when we arrived.

We got around and saw a lot of the area including Altea, Denia, Javea, the local villages and a bit farther afield to Xativa. As we were out and about during the day, we tended to stay home in the evenings and cook. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed to prepare our meals.

We also enjoyed relaxing by the pool which was peaceful and quiet. The views from the balcony whilst enjoying an early evening aperitif were glorious.

All in all a lovely 12 days and we would definitely recommend!

Location

Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

The villa is ideally located for rock climbers as many of the Costa Blanca's main climbing sites can be found within 30 minutes of the villa. The nearest rock face of Alcalalí is a 5 minute drive away.

The area's quiet roads are very popular with keen cyclists and the countryside with walkers/hikers.

Coast/Beach:

A leisurely drive on the quiet roads lined by almond and orange groves will take you to the many popular sandy beach resorts of the Costa Blanca. Calpe, Moraira, Denia, Javea and Benidorm can all be reached between 25-40 minutes. There are also a number of smaller coves to be discovered. Each of the towns has its own personality from the very lively Benidorm to the classy, fishing town of Moraira.

Travel:

A car is essential to fully enjoy your holiday here.

The villa is about an hour's drive using the motorway toll road (€7) from Alicante Airport and just under an hour and half from Valencia Airport using the toll road. We will email you detailed directions from the airport should you chose to stay at our villa.

Nearest bar/restaurant - 5 minute walk,

Nearest villages - Orba & Murla 5 minute drive,

Nearest large supermarket - 10 minute drive to Jalón or Orba,

Nearest large shopping centre - 25 minute drive to Ondara,

Nearest petrol station - 2 minute drive towards Orba,

Benidorm's Aqualandia water park, Terra Mitica theme park & Mundomar animal park - all approx 30 minutes drive,

Nearest airport - Alicante approx 1 hour drive on toll road €7.

Further Details:

As much as we love them, we do not accept pet guests in the villa.

The surrounding villages of Orba, Murla, Alcalalí, Jalón and Parcent give you access to banks, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, newsagents, tobacconists, chemists, doctors, petrol station, hairdressers, bars, cafés and restaurants.

There are many local fiestas in the Jalón Valley that are great to experience.

The shopping centre in Ondara provides an escape from the sun with a large range of shops as well a hypermarket, cinema and range of food options.

Sports - water sports, horse riding, tennis and go carting are all available locally as well as the hiking, walking, cycling and rock climbing mentioned above.

There is a 'rastro' flea and antique market in Jalón every Saturday morning and each village has a weekly morning market.
