Updated: 11-Nov-2016
House in Garlieston, Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland - Peaceful, Cliff-top Location On Scottish Coastal Estate, Just 10 Mins Walk To The Beach

This beautiful cliff-top cottage is set on the edge of woodland with wonderful views out to sea and along the coast. With a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a double sofabed, the cottage sleeps 4 comfortably - 6 max. Outside there is a wood-fired hot tub which makes a great place to loll around scanning the horizon for ships, or gazing up to the stars by night. Galloway is the UK's original Dark Sky Park, offering incredible views of the night sky. Galloway House Estate is a haven for wildlife and birds and makes Cruggleton Lodge a great base for birdwatchers and naturalists. Situated just 5 miles from Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town, with its second-hand bookshops and annual Wigtown Book Festival, the cottage is perfect for book-worms. Half an hour from Kirroughtree mountain-biking centre and the Galloway Hills, which are as beautiful as the Lake District - without the crowds.

"The perfect cottage for our honeymoon. We can't decide which bit was our favourite -the Aga, the log burner, the views, the deer, the woods or the fab snowdrops. Thank you for a fantastic few days & hope to be back this time next year." Alice & Darryn Feb '13.

"Relaxing romantic retreat. perfect location - fantastic woodland and beach side walks. Loved the wood burner and cooking on the Aga.Wish we could stay longer." Vicki & Bob Feb '13

Lovely place.

The lodge is extremely warm and comfortable, and proved an excellent place for children and small dog to have fun. Good walks from the lodge; a private, tranquil location and excellent local produce to be got from the village shops in Wigtown and Garlieston. Highly recommended.

From the Owner

Finn McCreath inherited the farm and cottages from his father who was a farmer before him. It is a quiet, rural area which has changed little over the years.

From the Owner

Cruggleton Lodge is a very unique property because of its location and style. It is a period property in a very rural , peaceful area but decorated stylishly and with wifi and ipod dock. There are amazing coastal walks from the door either to a safe sandy beach or along a clifftop. There is a wood fired hot tub outside the cottage so visitors can look out to sea or up to the stars. Guests can cook on the fire whilst waiting for the water to warm. It is possible to order home reared organic beef from the farm and a selection of cakes cooked to order can be delivered to your door.
