Seaside House is a beautifully modernised light and airy 1920's upside down house featuring stripped floors, open fireplace and spacious sun lounge in the living area. It's been in the family since the early 1980s and has been carefully renovated most recently with a high spec kitchen and bathroom, redecorated and new carpets and flooring throughout. The property has 5 bedrooms sleeping 9 with a vanity unit in each bedroom (apart from the single) and a separate cloakroom upstairs.

About the Owner

The Creed family have owned Seaside House since the early 80's with ownership passing to Matthew from his father. We've been renovating and improving since the early 90's and it is a much loved second home, renamed to Seaside House by our children when they were small. We run our own building supplies company in Gloucestershire, and Jo works part time as a trainer in Financial Services in Cheltenham. We have two children aged 18 & 16, a labrador & 4 chickens.

Perfect Cornish Retreat

This property is in a perfect location with the most stunning view, the beach at the end of your garden. The property is maintained to a high standard and is modern but also has that 'Cornish' feel. It is just perfect for a family holiday with Looe within walking distance over the cliff path. We have stayed there 4 times now over the past 10 years and look forward to returning in the future. Perfect for larger groups with plenty of space.

A lovely property

This was our fourth stay and each time we go we realise just how lucky the Creed family are in having a property which is so unique and rare. A beautiful house, even when it's raining. The refurbishment is worth every penny and is still in keeping with the house. There aren't many houses you can say have a beach as their back garden. A great stay. Thank you.

Just two little improvements - a washing line and a tin opener.

Excellent property in an amazing location

The property is well maintained and a good standard. The location is superb with an amazing view and ideal for the beach with the children. We had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to return to the property.

Fabulous family holiday

We enjoyed a fantastic week at Seaside House with our family of 9. From grand-children to grand-parents there was something for us all.

The house itself exceeded our expectations with plenty of room for us all, including a large and comfortable lounge/dining area with conservatory style annex overlooking the sea; a huge bathroom and similarly large and well fitted kitchen; and a great position just a few steps up from the beach. The five bedrooms upstairs don't all enjoy a sea view, but two do and four have a washbasin, so there was never a queue for the bathroom.

Outside, the decking area enjoyed the sun for most of the day, losing it only in the evening as we relaxed over drinks and a barbecue. On another level below the decking there is a small lawn, but this is only a pause on the way to the beach which is just below that.

The beach itself is pebbles and coarse gravelly sand with rocks at the waters edge at low tide, but there is ample room for swimming and sunbathing and, although it is a public beach, it was never crowded. We were very lucky with the weather and spent much of our time on the beach, but there are plenty of interesting places in the vicinity to visit (Eden Project, Monkey Sanctuary, Lost Gardens of Heligan to name a few) and of course there are many delightful Cornish fishing villages along this south coast which make a great day out if you fancy a change from Looe. We visited Polperro and Fowey which are both worth the trip.

All in all, if you're looking for an ideal family holiday location, we could not recommend Seaside House too highly. We'll certainly return.

From the Owner

Seaside House is warm and cosy when it's raining, light and airy when the sun is shining. You'll find everything you need within the house and as it's right on the coast path you can walk in either direction with Looe only 1 mile away, a characterful working fishing town full of bars and restuarants and shopping opportunities. Polperro isn't far either, and there are so many places to explore in the surrounding area.

Plaidy Beach is just at the bottom of the garden, Looe beach is a 15 minute walk away and can be reached across the rocks at low tide.


Looe - 15 min walk, Polperro along the coastal path - approx 6 miles or by road, Seaton approx 3 miles in the other direction along the South West coast path or via the beaches at low tide, Plymouth 45 mins, Eden Project 45 mins.

Further Details:

Local shops are a short drive or walk away. Looe has plenty of pubs, restaurants, shops and the major banks are all represented. Seafood and ice-creams are in abundance! Looe is still a busy fishing community consisting entirely of dayboats and various fishing trips from mackerel to shark are on offer during the summer months.
