Villa in Sao Rafael, Albufeira, Central Algarve, Portugal - Quiet Area Within 400 M Of Beach And Walking Distance To Several Restaurants

Sobre O Mar is a spacious luxury villa on the Sao Rafael estate close to Albufeira, in the Algarve. With large manicured gardens and a private pool this Villa is ideal for adults and children alike. The Villa has four bedrooms two of which are en suite, a living room, dining room kitchen and utility room. Upstairs the master double bedroom has an en suite bathroom plus a private sun-terrace with lovely sea views. All bedrooms and lounge area at Sobre O Mar are air conditioned/heated. The outside of this stunning villa offers large lawns with flower beds and palm trees, a private pool and a built-in barbecue. This is topped off by sea views and a secluded sun lounging area and is only a short walk to magnificent beaches. There are many restaurants and shops close by and Albufeira with is lively night life and bustling old town center is less than 10 minute car journey.

Girls Getaway.

Had a fantastic stay at this Villa. It was clean, spacious and well maintained. It was exactly what we 5 Ladies over 50 were looking for. It was very relaxing around the pool and within walking distance of two beaches with two very nice restaurants. We cooked brunch everyday and cocktails around the pool in the afternoon. It is not necessary to have a car but if you dont mind driving it is a plus. We got around using taxis which cost us about 8 euros to get into albuferia old town where we found some very good restaurants, Os Arcos (very good fish and chocolate cake and very friendly ate here twice) The Bistro excellent and also O Manjar. did not get to go to Dom Carlos this time as had some very fussy eaters with us( coeliac and no butter or cream) but it is still my favourite restaurant. Had a few good sing songs at Sherry's bar. I would highly recommend this villa, as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and intend to come back there with my own family.

We stayed in this villa for 10 days (28th September to 8th October 2014) and had a fabulous holiday! There were 6 of us (3 couples) and the villa was even better than the description! The villa itself is extremely spacious and well equipped. The outside area is superb, we had breakfast outside every day with a wonderful sea view! There are two beautiful beaches within easy walking distance, each with a beach bar serving lovely food. Our personal favourite was Sao Rafael which was just a few minutes further walk than the nearest local beach. We didn't have a car but the local taxi services were very obliging and reasonably priced and took us to Albufeira a few times which is only a short ride away. We would definitely recommend this villa and we all agreed we would certainly like to return in the not too distant future!

Absolutely FABULOUS!

We have just come back from this fantastic villa and it is the finest we have ever stayed in! The best views you could imagine, fabulous area and the villa itself is heavenly... Sun all around the house daily and a lovely covered area for shade when needed. Lovely furniture, pure comfort and lovely owners who cannot offer enough help and advice. It is surrounded by lovely restaurants and beaches when you need to go out, all within walking distance and a very reasonable local shop too but the Old town is only a 6 min drive and Oura a further 5 mins. It has everything for all age groups really and I could not recommend this villa enough! For anyone who wishes to book it in the future all I can say is Happy Holidays!! You will love it!

Sea views and easy walking to the beaches and restaurants were some of the main reasons that helped us decide on this property. It is also very convenient for golf and airport access

Nearest Airport : Faro at 45 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : A Sardinha at 0.4 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Salgados at 4 Kilometres Nearest Train : Albufeira at 8 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A22 at 8 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : at 0.4 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Ariffes and Sao Rafael at 0.4 Kilometres

Special interest holidays:

There is great walking in the area with cliff or beach walks a must.


Arrifes beach is just a 5 minute walk (400mtrs) away and Sao Rafael beach which is ranked as one of the top beaches in the world is a few minutes further on. The coastal walks are magnificent but good footwear is recommended for this. Both of these beaches have restaurants and bar areas. Several other beaches along the coast are just a few minutes drive away and offer small coves and large beaches. Gale beach which goes all the way to Armacao de Pera is approx. 10km long.


Faro airport is the closest airport and is approximately 35 minute drive away.

Car hire is not essential as there is walking to beaches and restaurants but a car is useful for visiting all the local attractions.


Sao Rafael is a quiet urbanisation which links with the general Gale area and has many restaurants and supermarkets. Portugal’s only two Michelin star restaurant Vila Joya is just a 5 minute drive away.

Zoomarine water park is approx 20 minutes away.

Albufeira is the closest large town and it is a 5 minute drive to the marina with the old town and strip are a little further on.

There is a kidney shaped private pool. Utility Room: Our utility rooms contains a further fridge and washing machine plus other storage cabinets. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels linen etc. are included with the rental. Other: The lounge has large sliding doors which lead on to a shaded terrace which in turn leads to the pool and garden area. This terrace has seating and dining. A built in BBQ offers the opportunity for external cooking in the sunshine.
