Farmhouse in Clansayes, Nr. St Paul, Drome, Rhone-Alpes - Nestled Amongst The Lavender Fields, Far From Noisy Towns, And Ideal To Explore The Beautiful Drome Provencal

A typical south-facing 4-bedroom Provencal country farmhouse, built in original stone and surrounded by lavender fields, truffle oaks and rolling hills. Spectacular views to the Rhone valley. Ideal for a relaxing holiday and great for walks in the countryside. The house has a private enclosed garden with fig, almond, fir and olive trees, as well as a private pool. There are grass areas, sunbeds for dozing and a quiet private area. The terrace runs across the entire front of the house, and is covered by 3 vines, which afford shade during the summer days. There is both outside and inside dining. No other houses overlook the gite, and the car parking is just to the front of the house, beyond the pool. The gite lies a short drive from the market town of St Paul, where you find all amenities. Golf is a 5 minute drive. Many typical towns lie within a short car ride, like Grignan with its castle, Vaison la Romaine, Orange, with its Roman Amphitheatre and Chateauneuf du pape, with its great wines.

About Patricia Sheehy

I moved to France with my husband over 20 years ago, and we currently live near the Swiss border and Geneva. We had our 2 children, have always loved the life here and in 2007 bought a delightful "gite" in Clansayes near Saint Paul Trois Chateaux.

We always wanted to have a "little piece of France" to use ourselves and to rent out to similar provence-lovers! We really fell in love with both our gite and the surrounding area, which is both beautiful and unspoiled; it's typical relaxing provence!

We love wine, and Chateauneuf is only 40 minutes drive! We play petanque outside in the evening sunshine and love barbeques, which we enjoy on the terrace under the vine. This is the ideal place to unwind and forget the daily toil!

Why Patricia Sheehy chose Drome Provencale

Clansayes is a very small quiet village on top of a hill in rural Drome Provencal. Our "gite" lies a short walk away nestled amongst the lavender fields. It is so beautiful and peaceful; It is part of a group of just 6 other houses which form a small collection of holiday homes called "Terres Lavandes"; they are a converted "Mas" or farmhouse. You can forget about work and just dream away....It's perfect for children because there are no cars to worry about, aside from someone crawling slowly down the little lane which leads to the parking. It takes about 2 hours to drive down from Lyon airport, or a similar distance from Marseilles. 7 minutes drive away is St. Paul, a typical market town, with everything you imagine from this area, which is famous for truffles. Get away from it all!!

What makes this farmhouse unique

Our "gite" called Cote Sud or South side, has an enclosed garden with its own pool, which makes it great for children (but you always need to watch them!), and the house faces south, so you get the sun all day. If you want shade, there are fig and almond trees and a huge vine that grows over the terrace. You will not be disturbed by cars. The views are beautiful, and if you come between mid-June and mid-July, you'll enjoy an abundance of amazing colour with the lavender fields.

Well equipped gite in lovely, peaceful surroundings

The property is well kept and situated in a quiet rural setting. The swimming pool was a welcome addition to recover from the hot summer days. The well stock wood library meant that barbecues were the order of the day and made for the perfect end to long days exploring the local area. Be sure to visit as many of the nearby chateaux as you can.

The beds are comfortable and if you hire linen it is crisp and fresh.

We had a thoroughly good time and recommend the property wholeheartedly.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The house has a typical Provencal atmosphere and plenty of character. Is is cool in the hot summer and very cosy in winter. It is ideal for families with children and older people looking for a quiet retreat to explore the area. All windows and doors as well as the roof are new in 2012 and there are shutters painted in traditional Provencal blue.. Outside: The gates lead onto a pebbled courtyard. The garden is fully fenced with lawn areas, a built-in barbecue, a covered shelter for logs and a table for dining if there is rain. There is a vast vine-covered terrace, as well as a small terrace for the downstairs bedroom. The private pool is 8m x 4m (25 x 12 feet). The pool attendant comes to clean each week. There is also a communal pool on the other side of the house. Views are across the lavender fields to the hills beyond. There are virtually no cars, so it is very safe for children. Utility Room: Washing machine, ironing board, hoover and cleaning equipment Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels may be rented for the duration. Final cleaning (after departure) is included in the price.
