About rosalie reeder

My partner and I live in the midlands. We both love the south west and decided to look for a property to buy. We toured the area and decided on Brixham as we wanted somewhere to spend our winters. We spotted a run down property in need of a complete renovation and so we bought it and spent the next year lovingly restoring it.

Upper cottage used to be a merchant traders house and dates back to the 17th century.

Because Upper Cottage is our HolidayHome we have taken special care to provide good quality furnishings and utensells. You will find every thing there that you need to make your holiday a memorable one.

Upper Cottage will provide you with a lovely environment to spend quality time with your family.

We are retired now and love to spend time at the cottage.

rosalie reeder purchased this cottage in 2001

Why rosalie reeder chose Torbay

We bought our holiday home in brixham because we fell in love with the place.and as we intended to use the cottage in the winter time we wanted somewhere with a more gentle climate. Brixham is a little micro climate and can often be very mild during winter months. Its charming and busy harbour and the situation of the cottage being on the level of the town means you can nip in and out of the town and harbour on foot without the need for a car. its in an area of outstanding natural beauty with lots to see close by, lovely walks and fantastic pubs and resturants.

We chose Brixham to buy our holiday home because it is a thriving fishing comunity.not just a holiday resort. So many seaside towns die in the winter but although Brixham is quieter, it is still lively out of season.

What makes this cottage unique

We are close to the harbour and town with the manor pub being the nearest pub only 50 or so yrds away. numerous shops restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk from the property. buses to all torbay resorts leave from the square across from the property which we enjoy for free with our bus pass!!We love to walk around the harbour and up on to Berry Head which is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The beaches of fishcomb and churston cove are a 15 minute walk from the harbour and you can take your dog on these all year round.

Brixham welcomes dogs and many of the pubs and resturants allow them in.

The cottage is cosy for winter lets with full gas central heating (all you have to do is turn up the thermostat and on it comes) and a flame effect stove fire in the lounge fireplace.

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

Firstly about Brixham, I small fishing town on the South Devon coast. Busy with tourists during holidays but night times surprisingly quiet. Fabulous place that if you want to recharge or want a quiet get away is brilliant.

No the cottage. It is just like a home away from home, ok it's located above and art gallery but an extra few stairs didn't hurt, even my elderly parents didn't mind, and the dog positively loved it when he was allowed down them.

The accommodation is great, a little quirky, mainly in the last bedroom. My son likened his particular bed it to Harry Potters room under the stairs. Saying that he is 5'6 and managed perfectly. The rest of the beds were great (2 double bedded rooms and the twin, which my son shared with his sister, her bed was standard single). Kitchen and lounge were well appointed with all the bits, pieces and appliances one could ever need.

The two different outdoor areas were brilliant, although the front balcony looks out over the road, car park and far side of town, is was actually lovely to sit and watch the world go by, drink coffee and read the papers. The rear deck area is up some quite steep stairs which I suspect could be a little risky if wet or icy, but it too was a lovely area and very private. If the sun comes out you really need to be careful as the area is totally protected from wind.

Fabulous place. Would love to visit again

Cosy clean cottage

  • 5 of 5

We booked this cottage for my in-laws 58th wedding anniversary, we also had a two year old and this cottage suited all of us. It was very clean warm and cosy and had everything you would ever need, it really was home from home. It is in a fantastic location and we loved our weekend stay here. There was even a stair gate here which was ideal for us. This cottage is literally a very short stroll from the harbour and you have all the shops on your door stop. We will definitely be returning.

Home from Home. Beautiful cottage in an ideal location.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time in this beautiful character cottage. It was very clean and offers everything you need. We had our two year old with us who felt at home here as soon as we arrived, stair gates were available so we did not have to worry about our little one hurting herself. It is in a fantastic location in a lovely part of Devon. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is such a wonderful little cottage, we felt very at hime from the moment we arrived. The pictures do not do it justice. It is so charming and quirky as well as being very well equipped. We stayed here during February half term and we even managed to sit out on the balcony on a sunny afternoon to watch the world go by, we got quite hot!

We booked directly with the owner, Rosalie, who dealt with our enquiry very promptly. The information that she provided was excellent which made the booking and arrival process easy.

The management company who look after the property require a special mention. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. When we arrived the boiler wasn't working, they were around within 10 minutes and sorted it out - amazing service and the ladies were lovely. We had to phone them again during our stay (our fault!) and I really felt that nothing was too much trouble for them.

Brixham itself is a great place for a holiday. The harbour is charming, with so many great places to eat and drink. There are lovely walks to little coves and other places of interest and pretty much everywhere seems to be dog friendly. We have had a wonderful little holiday.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Stayed 2 nights in end of September. Good location. As mentioned by other reviewers located on busy town road so need to unload/load the car quickly. Parking space down by the dock short walk, tight space. Apartment had easy walk in shower, perfect for my 87yr old father in law. Furniture dated but cozy, reflected well in the photos.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review---If arriving at a busy time ,best to park in the carpark oposite to unload--then transfer to our free space in the harbour---we have a golf estate--which is fine for the space---any bigger might be a problem...thanks again..

A home from home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is home from home but better still it's in beautiful brixham, 3 lovely clean bedrooms, well stocked kitchen diner and a large comfortable lounge , with everything a family could want for a holiday, there is a small balcony where you can watch the world go by, at the rear a raised patio with a barbecue a lovely private sun trap , the cottage is so handy for shops ,transport ,and has it's own parking spot near the harbour which is a bonus ,we are already looking forward to another week in 2017 can't wait
