About Peter Aviston

We have lived in the village of Rothbury and been owners of Conway Cottage for 15 years.

Conway Cottage has been a holiday cottage since 2008. We continue to look after the Cottage to keep its 4 star Visit Britain rating. We love the area and our children have really enoyed the mountain biking, fishing, beaches and river walks.

Peter Aviston purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Peter Aviston chose Northumberland National Park & Country

Most enjoyable. Lovely cottage and very quiet to say its just off the main street.

Lots to do close at hand and coast not too far away.

Great Place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Great quiet accommodation in the centre of town close to everything. Cottage was very comfortable and clean with top range amenities. Lots of walks nearby and a fascinating area to explore with its ruins and castles. Check out Edlingham and Brinkburn Priory. Thanks Peter and Sue. John and Dianne from Oz.

Just Perfect !

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at Conway Cottage, it was just

perfect. So clean and welcoming on our arrival and the red wine was

much appreciated, what a lovely gesture !

Went to Alnwick, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Craster and saw other castles, beaches, some walks by the river, a few drinks in the Turks and an excellent meal in the Queens. Rothbury is a great location !

Thank you for allowing us the use of your lovely cottage.

Take care

We have been holidaying in Conway Cottage for about 6 years now and have had a wonderful break each time.We are usually in Rothbury in the Autumn and I can recommend this time of year in this cosy cottage with its open fire and comfy lounge. This cottage is well maintained and always very clean .The owners Sue and Peter are always very helpful and seem to be very proud of this cottage and keep it to a very high standard.Looking forward to our next break very soon

A lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

The location of Conway Cottage was perfect for us.Quietly tucked away in a courtyard behind the High Street. It is comfortable, secure, clean, well maintained and very well equipped. I was in contact with the owners by phone and e-mail and they are friendly and helpful, even sending us extra information.

The cottage is so very convenient for shopping, cafés, pubs & restaurants. The restaurant in the Queens Head was our favourite. The Sun café was also a favourite, they make the best scones, especially with strawberry jam and clotted cream.

We had long lovely walks along the river and in town. We drove over the moors, through several villages in the area and of course visited Cragside, Alnwick and Morpeth. Rothbury is lovely, friendly and comfortable, just like the cottage.

Owner's Response: Dear Jan and Lynton thanks ever so much for our first review.... your positive comments are really appreciated. We haven't been using Owners Direct very long although we have had Conway Cottage as a holiday cottage for 5 years. We always like to help visitors with suggestions before they arrive, so guests can make the most of their stay in Northumberland... a wonderful County 'off the beaten track' and a bit of a step back in time.
