Formally the blacksmith cottage of Conway House it dates back to the mid 1800's. The cottage has recently been updated to provide all the comforts of a modern home from home but has retained many of its original features. The cottage sleeps 4 and has a large double bedroom with feature cast iron fireplace, twin bedroom and a luxury bathroom to the first floor. On the ground floor there is a dining room with feature stone wall, lounge with open fire and a fully equipped kitchen. The village of Rothbury has 4 pubs and several restaurants - all within a 5 minute walk of Conway Cottage. Free Wi-Fi available.
We have lived in the village of Rothbury and been owners of Conway Cottage for 15 years.
Conway Cottage has been a holiday cottage since 2008. We continue to look after the Cottage to keep its 4 star Visit Britain rating. We love the area and our children have really enoyed the mountain biking, fishing, beaches and river walks.
Peter Aviston purchased this cottage in 2001
Great location in central Northumberland providing easy access to coast and its castles, the Cheviot and Simonside Hills, and Hadrians Wall
Charming Grade II cosy cottage with open fire
Most enjoyable. Lovely cottage and very quiet to say its just off the main street.
Lots to do close at hand and coast not too far away.
Lovely cottage. Attractive, well furnished & presented, & with everything you'd need. Comfortable & warm (weather was cold!) & roomier than expected. Bottle of red wine on arrival was a good start , and very helpful owner.
Plenty of local pubs with OK food, and an excellent local butcher. Lots of good walking & history in area. All in all a good stay.
The cottage is spacious and nicely furnished. It is located right in the middle of the town, close to lovely , independent shops but despite the central location it is very quiet. The courtyard is small with high walls so there is not much natural light in the house but this got me out to enjoy the splendid Northumberland coast and hills. The owner was welcoming and helpful.
The cottage in the lovely village of Rothbury was ideally situated in center of the bustling village.
The scenery in Northumberland was absolutely beautiful with places to see within short drives such as Alnwick Castle and gardens, Bamburgh Castle in its lovely coastal setting, and Cragside which was very close.
There was a good choice of places to eat locally.
Great quiet accommodation in the centre of town close to everything. Cottage was very comfortable and clean with top range amenities. Lots of walks nearby and a fascinating area to explore with its ruins and castles. Check out Edlingham and Brinkburn Priory. Thanks Peter and Sue. John and Dianne from Oz.
We had a wonderful time staying at Conway Cottage, it was just
perfect. So clean and welcoming on our arrival and the red wine was
much appreciated, what a lovely gesture !
Went to Alnwick, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Craster and saw other castles, beaches, some walks by the river, a few drinks in the Turks and an excellent meal in the Queens. Rothbury is a great location !
Thank you for allowing us the use of your lovely cottage.
Take care
Mel
