We are just minutes for the beautiful and rugged cliff tops and this is an interesting historical tin mining area. The stunning setting is the backdrop for the BBC'S drama series Poldark, showing this area of Cornwall's landscapes at their very best. The rich mining heritage on the stretch of coast proves difficult to resist, and the Levant mine just a 10 minute stroll plays the role of the fictional Tressiders Rolling Mill in the series. The series showcases the fabulous coast between here and Botallack and also features the much photographed Crowns mines, a stunning walk along the cliffs from here.
Geevor mine is on the 'doorstep' and is a world heritage site, and is open to the public for underground tours and an insight to Cornwall's mining history.
Our local beaches, Portheras, Boat Cove and Sandy Cove are a few minutes drive set below the lighthouse in Pendeen, are truly lovely and unspoilt.

St Just (market town with plenty of shops, 3 miles. Lands End airfield with daily flight to the Isles of Scilly and Cape Cornwall, named the connoisseur's Lands End!, 3 miles. Well known Lands End is 7 miles. The main town of Penzance is 6 miles and this is also the port for the boat crossing for the Scillonian crossing to the Scillies.

Groomscoot was a comfortable, newly re-decorated and well equipped cottage, with good facilities. The provision of a woodburner made for cozy evenings with the benefit of a complimentary bottle of wine! We only stayed for 3 days but the property would be great for longer stays with drying/washing facilities available. A small decked area facing west would be good for summer evening sundowners.Marion the owner was helpful but unobtrusive and the house was spotlessly clean.
The whole area around Trewellard is superb for exploring by foot/bike/car with amazing cliff scenery and the industrial heritage of all the mines. It still retains a true cornish feel, as yet unspoilt by mass tourism.
We would highly recommend the Trewellard Arms 300m away for Sunday lunch, a friendly welcome from staff and customers with good roast meat and vegetables.
We thoroughly enjoyed our few days there and would definitely return.
