Villa in Javea, Balcon Al Mar, Costa Blanca North, Spain - Peaceful Location, 10 Minute Drive To Sandy Beach, 5 Minute Drive To Local Beach

A lovely, spacious, 2 bedroom villa, traditional style with modern fittings. There is multi channel, cable t.v. provided. The interior of the villa is comfortable. The bedrooms have king size beds. Located on a 1100m2 of land with fence and wall around, the garden has fruit trees, shrubs and flower beds. There is an extra large, private, pool with Roman steps. The pool is surrounded by lots of sunbathing terrace, which make it perfect for al fresco dining. There are local beaches nearby; Arenal, Granadella, Portixol, Ambolo which appeal to families, sun lovers, divers. There are several bars and restaurants nearby. The villa is in a peaceful spot, but is close to all activities. Pet friendly, please check reviews for pet owners comments.

We had a really lovely time at the villa with the kids. The pool area was excellent, great pool. The area was quiet but there was a bar was just around the corner and a couple of good local restaurants. The villa had everything we needed, and the Brit tv was welcome as we had a rainy day. The owner gave us lots of information before we arrived which was really handy. We are looking forward to staying at the villa again next year.

Lovely Villa in good location

We were very satisfied with the Villa, it's facilities and location. The booking process was very efficient with good help and advice from Janet. Lots of nice places to visit within short driving distance and plenty of good restaurants nearby. Overall a brilliant holiday.

ideal for pets, good location

The villla suited us very well, and as we had our dog with us the sizeable grounds and adjacent woodland walk were ideal. The pool area was perfect for outdoor dining. The only reservation we had was absence of wifi.

A wonderful villa set in a peaceful location

We wanted a totally relaxing chilled out holiday and that is exactly what we got. The villa is really lovely and has everything you need for a home away from home. The gardens surrounding the villa are very pretty with plenty of seating areas and the bigger than average pool is perfect. Both Janet and Wendy(the villa manager) were really helpful and friendly. The location is very quiet, and if it's peace and quiet you're after, this villa is exceptional. The only negative (if you can call it a negative) was there was no wifi connection, and we found we weren't able to get internet connection in many areas - not good for our 16 year old son - but we weren't too bothered. We would highly recommend this villa and will definitely be returning.

Lovely Villa

Had a lovely stay at this villa in mid May this year. Villa set in a lovely quiet residential location, pool area and villa very spacious and pool not over looked. Looking forward to going back sometime soon and would highly recommend it.

Great location, pet friendly and spacious grounds

We have stayed in Javea many times before so knew the location and what to expect around the area. I still think this area is the best part of Javea and gets the sun last at night which is a bonus.

View of Montgo was great, especially as the autumn sun was dropping in the sky and turning it orange. Got some nice photos.

We traveled with pets and this villa was great for us, perfect actually! It is fully enclosed and so much room in the grounds we simply didn't need to worry. This is a rare find, so if you have dogs, I'd seriously consider here if they are escape artists like ours!

Villa is cosy inside, nice lounge and a good kitchen where everything works. Tons of wardrobe space, UK TV channels and a few bits and bobs to provide a little home from home.

I have just read the previous 1 star review and what can only be described as a totally over the top rant! I will admit there are areas where the villa needs some TLC (pool area furniture, outdoor shower, missing tiles, parking isn't great) and I'm sure the owner would agree and likely ha plans, but it is serviceable and above all clean and safe. The TV works fine if you have more than 1 brain cell and can operate a remote, beds were in good condition and a decent size and I'm not sure what you would need to be doing to push over a breeze block wall. Maybe they have never been to Spain before!

So I'm summary, got pets? Great spot, go for it! You can chill with another glass of Rioja instead of hunting for Fido in the forest :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I do try to improve things at the villa each year and I already have plans for 2016, but it is always an ongoing process. The winter months are when I have a chance to do maintenance and check what needs fixing or changing so feedback is welcome. The pool, Rioja and a glorious sunset - always a great combination.

Tired, neglected, run down & dangerous in places

From the pictures on this web site & communication with the owner about the pool, we thought this would be a great place to stay, especially given the high level of fees charged out of season. Unfortunately, this villa provides a roof over your head (which leaks when it rains) & is awful. We raised issues on our return & only got "you should have told Tim when you were there"! But he could not have fixed all the faults during our holiday. If you want to stay somewhere much nicer, with views, is clean & not neglected, with the same number or more bedrooms at the price you would be charged for this one or less, try looking elsewhere! People will judge a place by what is written & photographs – as we did – if we had only known the truth, we would not have paid that much money to stay somewhere so run down and neglected and dirty. I am not even able to post the photos on this site so try contacting me direct. They are factual pictures as of two weeks ago. OUTSIDE – Dead plants in pots, electric wires sticking out of ground & wrapped around plant pots, tiles missing from patio and bottom of steps meaning it is sharp & dangerous, slippy slope with no handrail to washing machine outside which is in a builders yard with bricks, wheelbarrows, building gear. Builders dumpy bags poking through gravel, Lounger cushions dirty, damp and mouldy, bits of wood in garden left lying with nails sticking out, rubbish in various corner of garden including a chair with no bottom to it, rotten & old. A breeze block wall with no mortar, just stacked, all loose by back gate which itself is made of plyboard, can fall on your car at any time.

Drop off from pool patio area to gravel area – dangerous for children with gravel everywhere – not good for children to fall onto

Nowhere for children to play if pool area is wet and slippy – as the gravel is not good for little ones. The light is inside the front gate meaning no light to see where the key goes at night from outside the gate, pool shower – disgustingly dirty, broken tiles, sharp edges and a potential Legionnaires Disease hazard – very dangerous. INSIDE - Low water pressure in shower room, You also have to climb over/around the toilet to get to it. Torn blankets, ripped curtains, no instructions for tv/washing machine, tv doesn't work, ants everywhere inside, wardrobes mouldy/musty, contact me for further info.

Owner's Response: There only seemed to be a problem once the guest arrived home and asked me for money. This guest wanted me to contact her away from the recognized email contact on Owners Direct, which I found strange and of course refused as there was nothing to hide. I hope that anyone reading this will check the reviews given before - one written from a guest who left the day before this guest arrived. I have good reviews from couples, families with children, families with children and pets. Strange that the property should change so much in one day from one good review to one bad review, but I am not going to criticize a guests review. Needless to say, no problems were reported during this guest's stay, even though a contact person met them at the villa, showed them around and advised to call if there were any problems. Presumably if the villa were dirty they would have noticed immediately and could have mentioned it immediately. There is a contact person available so that any problems can be resolved. Once again I hope that potential guest will read this review alongside all the other favourable reviews and recognize it for what it is. From the Owner

The villa is in a lovely quiet spot, with little or no tourist noise, but still close to the beaches, night life and Spanish life style. There are restaurants and bars within walking distance so I don't always have to drive to go out. There are some lovely beaches locally, my favourite is Portixol, which is just a 5 minute drive. Used more by Spanish visitors, it is a lovely place to go take a picnic. It has everything really, great outdoors space, local entertainment if I want it, or 10 minutes to the hot spots. Local Spanish cafe for snacks in the day - noisy but great ambience and great tostadas. More refined eating at German restaurant, lovely cold German beer too. Friendly folks at the local English bar - great for snacks and they are so helpful. Wi fi connection here.

Arenal Beach - A sandy beach - approx 5 kms from the villa.

Portixol Beach - A rocky beach, ideal for divers.

Granadella Beach - A rocky beach, sun trap, ideal snorkelling

Ambolo Beach - Advised that this is the local nudist beach.

Local to the villa:

English, German and Spanish bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a variety of tapas, dinner, wines and beers.

German bakery (only open at certain times of the year)

Supermarket where you can buy your staples for your stay or there is an Aldi/Consum only3-4 kms distance.

A paella restaurant where you can go for a game of tennis and then book paella for lunch.

Forest walks where you can just enjoy a peaceful walk or take you pet for a walk.

Scenic walks with stunning sea views.

Highlights of the area:

Montgo, the famous mountain, where you can drive on the plateau to look across Javea and the surrounding countryside - breathtaking.

Javea Old Town. A beautiful place to visit. There is a very interesting museum set in the cobbled streets. You can stop for a huge variety of tapas and wines. Visit in the evening when the streets are lit from the town houses. A great ambience and a wonderful experience.

Javea Port. A bustling port where you can buy fresh seafood or visit restaurants sitting directly overlooking the sea serving fresh seafood to you.

Fiestas. Visit the Valencia or Javea websites to check out when the local fiesta are on. They are certainly worth a visit.



Car hir is recommended/essential.

The nearest airports are Alicante or Valencia, which are approx 90 minute drive to the villa.

- The extra size pool is wonderful as I enjoy swimming, so its big enough to let me have a good swim workout. - A little German bakery just around the corner, if you fancy getting up early - he runs out of bread very quickly. - Al fresco eating is a must. A little music, good food and a bottle of wine at the pool side - lovely - Four local beaches for diving, snorkeling, sun bathing, water sports or for nudists. - Tennis courts nearby - Supermarket for general essentials nearby I lived in Javea so I know lots of the local attractions, so tell me what you like and if I know of it I am happy to send you the information. I want people to enjoy the villa and have fun there.

There is a sleeper couch for two people, for which a supplement will be charged, prices on request. Outside: There is a large pool approx 11.5m x 5m, 2+metres deep at its deepest end with Roman steps to enter the pool. The terrace is large and flat. There is a dining table and chairs provided. Sun beds are also provided. There is a rear terrace which is more shaded, so ideal for an afternoon snooze with shade. Utility Room: A washing machine is provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The towels and linen are included in the price. If the stay is for 2+ weeks, linen will be changed mid stay. Other: Dining room - This is known as the naya and has a large dining table and chairs. This looks out across the pool area and to Montgo views.
