About the property

Modern 2 bedroom duplex appartment in beautiful garden and countryside.

The apartment is fully modernised but retains some original features including the beams. There are original paintings in the sitting room and William Morris fabrics.

The gîte has two bedrooms: one with a large (160cm) double bed and the other with two single beds. The sitting room also has a very comfortable pull out sofa bed (137cm). There is a cot available. All bed linen (100% cotton) is provided.

There is a well equipped kitchen with dining area and the bathroom has a separate modern shower as well as the bath. Towels (for bathroom and swimming pool) and high quality toiletries are provided.

The whole building has central heating and the wifi works well.

We are English. David worked as a statistician in UK. Janet is a retired doctor. We feel totally immersed in French life and are happy to share our experiences with visitors or to leave them in peace as they wish.

Why Janet or David Hall chose Drome Provencale

We fell in love with the house as soon as we saw it. It was a working farm with tenant farmers in residence who were retiring after 40 years.

We chose the house because we wanted to be no more than 8 hours drive from Calais and we wanted almost guaranteed sun in summer.

Originally it was intended as a holiday home but as time went by we were increasingly reluctant to leave and David decided to live here all the time when he retired. In summer our 4 children and their families visit.

Although we are relatively remote we have some wonderful neighbours, French, Dutch and Belgians. We enjoy eating out and there are several excellent restaurants in the area.

Montélimar is a main shopping area.

La Bégude has 2 bakers, 2 grocers, a butcher, pharmacy, hairdresser, bar, tabac etc.

What makes this apartment unique

We offer very comfortable accommodation with books, DVDs that can be enjoyed when the weather is bad (not often). The house is at the end of a 350m track, walks are from the doorstep. The house has wifi.

Notes on accommodation: We have two young cats and an entertaining small dog (a Jack Russell). We have lived here for 28 years, initially as a holiday home but now as our main home. We love the peace and calm of the area and never tire of the beauty of the surrounding area. The duplex apartment has its own separate entrances into the interior courtyard and to the outside. A welcome pack of food and drink will be offered to enable the first meal to be easily prepared and a drink to welcome you on your arrival. Outside: The house is surrounded by garden and woods with fields to the west. The heated pool is 9m x 3m; it is not shared with any other property. It can be heated to 30 degrees for the non-hardy. Apart from a designated outside area for the apartment there are several other outside eating areas with barbecue and outside furniture. The occupants of the apartment are welcome to use any of the garden and the pool at any time. The pool has a lockable cover and is kept covered when not in use. There are cycles of varying sizes to borrow at own risk!. There is also a selection of outside games such as archery. Towels and linen all provided including towels for use in the swimming pool. Cleaning and changing of linen is weekly or more frequently if required. There is no additional charge for cleaning at the end of the stay. Other: 2 extra double bedrooms each with en-suite shower room in the farmhouse may be available (additional charge 33% of gîte charge) and 1 large bed-sitting room and attached children's room with bunk beds and en-suite bathroom ( charge 50% of gîte charge)
