About Judith Hurford

Julian, myself and 3 children live here at Farwood Barton, Julian was born here, and I moved here when we got married. Julian runs the dairy herd and helps out with the holiday cottages. I run the holiday cottages and do the farm accounts. We live here with 190 dairy cows, approx 40 calves most of the year, with some sheep during the winter, 2 cats Spoldge and Trixey, a working dog called Rex who love catching the ball with the visitors!

Why Judith Hurford chose Colyton

Farwood Barton is a working dairy farm, the farm has been in the family for 3 generations, the original farm buildings in the Victorian Court Yard had got out of date for modern farming practices, they were crying out to be converted in to holiday lets. We converted them in 2009, we now enjoy having visitors staying with us and sharing our beautiful location.

We as a family love living here in the countryside, we enjoy everything the countryside has to offer us, our livelihood, the quietness, our own space, the views, we still enjoy waking up every morning looking out to the wonderful view over the Coly Valley and beyond, summer or winter.

What makes this cottage unique

Farwood Barton gives you high quality, modern, accommodation, hidden from the hustle and bustle of life, whilst being close to the Jurassic Coast beaches and road links into the South West:- A30, A303, A35, A3035 and M5.

We want everyone to have a truly relaxing stay, and to leave feeling refreshed after a memorable time here at Farwood Barton.

SPLENDID SPLENDID COTTAGE IN A QUIET RURAL ENVIRONMENT, FEW MILES FROM THE JURASSIC COAST

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in this cottage. We had a warm welcome by Judith, and the cottage was very neat and clean. Everything was there one needed, and the place was very quiet and peaceful, with surprising views on the hills from the window. Place certainly to be recomended !!

Outstanding Scenery

  • 4 of 5

The Apple Loft is one of three holiday flats located on a large farm property in the middle of the East Devon area of Natural Beauty. As such it is surrounded by picturesque rolling hills, yet it is within a 15 minute drive to the coast.

The flat itself is very comfortable and contains all the necessary items for a safe-catering holiday. There is also a tennis court, table tennis and a full-size snooker table. Judith, the owner, was also very hospitable and helped make our stay feel like home.

Life on an active dairy farm

  • 4 of 5

We loved the perfect blend of historic buildings and modern facilities. Seeing the dairy cows outside your window added to the country life feeling that we were looking for. Was a bit of distance from services so having a car is essential. Overall a great stay.

We had a fabulous week at Farwood Barton. Wonderful views across the valley of green, lush patchwork fields with dairy cows dotted amongst them. A warm friendly welcome awaits you from the proprietors not forgetting the lovely farm hands Doug and Rex the two dogs. A really memorable holiday one we will remember for ever.
