About Judith Hurford

Julian, myself and 3 children live here at Farwood Barton, Julian was born here, and I moved here when we got married. Julian runs the dairy herd and helps out with the holiday cottages. I run the holiday cottages and do the farm accounts. We live here with 190 dairy cows, approx 40 calves most of the year, with some sheep during the winter, 2 cats Spoldge and Trixey, a working dog called Rex who love catching the ball with the visitors!

Why Judith Hurford chose East Devon

Farwood Barton is a working dairy farm, the farm has been in the family for 3 generations, the original farm buildings in the Victorian Court Yard had got out of date for modern farming practices, they were crying out to be converted in to holiday lets. We converted them in 2009, we now enjoy having visitors staying with us and sharing our beautiful location.

We as a family love living here in the countryside, we enjoy everything the countryside has to offer us, our livelihood, the quietness, our own space, the views, we still enjoy waking up every morning looking out to the wonderful view over the Coly Valley and beyond, summer or winter.

What makes this cottage unique

Farwood Barton gives you high quality, modern, accommodation, hidden from the hustle and bustle of life, whilst being close to the Jurassic Coast beaches and road links into the South West:- A30, A303, A35, A3035 and M5.

We want everyone to have a truly relaxing stay, and to leave feeling refreshed after a memorable time here at Farwood Barton.

'Wonderful place. Nice people. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, probably the best cottage we have every stayed in.'

We have absolutely LOVED our week at Farwood Barton......the best accommodation we have ever stayed in.....so clean and warm and homely. We’ve really enjoyed the games room and have played tennis every day (mostly in gloriously sunshine!)

Would really recommend The Wheel House

  • 5 of 5

Having just spent only a long weekend at the farm , EVERY member of the group said "What a great place this is , we could easily stay a week"

The owner Judith was very friendly and welcoming, the farm is a real working farm but had no early morning tractors or anything that spoiled the tranquility- we woke up in a morning to look out at the amazing view of country side and see the cows strolling back from the milking parlor.

The accommodation was spacious and well equipped, the beds amazingly comfortable. The only thing that could be singled out was the third bedroom was quite small and had no wardrobe hanging space - presumably designed for children sleeping, but that by itself couldn't detract from the 5 star rating.

The farm is situated close to many local areas of interest Lyme Regis, Beer, Sidmouth, Seaton etc though the roads around the farm are very "tight" and to be driven hoping you don't meet a tractor or even a car coming the other way LOL .

A place we are very likely to return to.

Lovely family break.

We stayed in the Wheel House which is very spacious with beautiful views from every room. The beds are really comfy, the best we have slept in away from home. We all enjoyed the games room and the space outside. This a great place for all of the family to enjoy.
