These traditional stone properties in a tranquil setting are furnished to a high standard providing a comfortable and excellent base from which to explore the Lake District National Park. The extensive shared garden attracts deer, rabbits and birds and adjoins fields of sheep. Situated close to Grizedale Forest – home to ‘Go Ape’, the apartments are surrounded by numerous walking and mountain bike tracks. Cycle hire is available at Lakeside. While walkers will be keen to explore Wainwright’s Fells, there is also an abundance of historic houses and gardens to visit, including Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top Farm. A number of local museums and The South Lakes Animal Park offer excellent family days out. There are excellent amenities for watersports and fishing close at hand and the Cumbrian Coast is only 30 minutes drive away. For eating and drinking, the Lakeside Hotel and Knoll Hotel are within a few minutes walk. Spa facilities are also available at the Lakeside Hotel.

Deer Rise is a first floor apartment sleeping 6 (+infant), accessed via external steps. On the first floor is the living and dining room with log fire and dramatic views of Windermere and the fells beyond. The kitchen is well equipped and includes fridge/freezer. The bathroom has a shower cubicle, bath, underfloor heating and a separate toilet. On the second floor there are three bedrooms including one double with en-suite shower room and Lake views; and two twin bedrooms.

We had a lovely stay, the apt has a lovely feel to it, very welcoming, really clean and nicely decorated, the garden is huge and gorgeous, lovely for eating out and our dogs were in heaven, nice location peaceful but handy for most areas, we loved it and hope to stay again soon.

Perfect holiday property and location

We enjoyed an absolutely wonderful holiday in this very well-kept house in a beautiful area of the Lakes District. Everything was exactly as described in the property description. The garden was huge, perfect for adult and children alike to play in and relax. There were stunning views from the lounge and the double bedroom.

I would definitely recommend this house to friends and we would love to come back ourselves another time.

The owner was very helpful and accommodating and provided us with detailed information on places to go and see with young children in the area.

I grew up in South Lakeland, and still have family living locally. The Lake District is a fantastic place for children and we wanted our sons to enjoy all the activities and places I enjoyed as a child. It's great to be able to escape the city and enjoy the peace and stunning beauty of the lakes and fells. I love relaxing in the garden with only the sound of sheep and birdsong, and occasional whistle from the steam train. The boys love the garden which is big enough for wide games and has a 'rough' area for campfire meals; whilst Mark enjoys sailing and walking.

From the Owner

We have private access to a shore at Lakeside - a great place for paddling or launching canoes (there's no jetty). And there's so much to see and do in the area - our favourites would include walking up to High Dam from the house; cycling in Grizedale Forest; the Motor Museum at Backbarrow, and the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton-in-Furness. There are some great places to eat in Cumbria. We love L'Enclume in Cartmel for special occasions. The Lakeside Hotel Restaurant and Spa are both excellent. I particularly enjoy a manicure followed by relaxing on the terrace overlooking the lake with a coffee and the paper while my nails dry! There are lots of historic houses to visit; and plenty of interesting little shops to potter around in nearby Hawkshead and Bowness.

The properties can be let together to sleep up to 10 (+infant). Our ground floor apartment Fir Tree Lodge is pet friendly, but please note there are sheep in the adjoining fields. Outside: Guests have shared use of the extensive gardens - ample garden furniture and barbecues available. PLEASE NOTE - there are naturally occurring rock pools within the grounds which are unfenced. On-site parking available for 2 cars for each property. Guests have shared use of the private shore.
