Idyllic Country Cottage near South Downs National Park, Village of Hurstpierpoint, Brighton& Beaches - Peaceful Setting nr. Hickstead, Popular Area for Cycling, Golf, Fishing, Horse Riding, Birdwatching
Built using reclaimed oak beams the cottage is set in a beautiful tranquil garden. It has recently been refurbished with five bedrooms, three with ensuite bathrooms and two bedrooms with own bathrooms. The rooms are nicely spaced out which could suit two families. The main lounge has a TV, comfy sofas and armchairs and the dining room has another sitting area around the inglenook fireplace. There is a mesmerising fish tank in the breakfast area of the kitchen. “Highly recommended, we had a great time” We had a fantastic stay. The house is really beautiful and has everything you could think you would need and more! Ruth is an amazing host and very helpful. During our stay we went to Goodwood racecourse and had trips into Brighton. The station is about 10 mins away but there is a taxi rank based there so very easy to get to. There are lots of local nice walks and the garden is lovely with a great BBQ. Lots of room for a big group and ideal for families and groups of friends

Wonderful vacation home for large group
The Mill was such a great house for our family trip to England. We have family in Hurstpierpoint, only about 10 minutes away. We were hoping to get away without having a car, but you really need a vehicle for this location, as it is truly out in the country. The setting was just perfect for grilling on the patio, and cool summer nights outside. We had 3 families (2 young kids) and a few adults. We loved walking the footpaths, which provided an even better view of the Downs. The Ginger Fox Restaurant is a few minutes away (by car) and was simply the best meal we had during our entire stay.
Excellent property and lovely owners
We were a family of 4 adults and 3 children. We stayed at the Hill for 10 lovely days commencing on April 14th, 2016.
The Hill is a wonderful listing to stay with a beautiful and a spacious garden.
The property was clean, very well equipped and maintained.
Ruth was a lovely hostess, very concerned, with remarkable personality.
I will certainly recommend the Hill to friends and relatives.
We enjoyed The Ginger Fox Restaurant, The Royal Oak pub with its variety of food and friendly environment. Visiting the small villages and towns was some experience.
This beautiful, tranquil cottage suited our group, aged 5 years to 90 years, perfectly. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week there and would love to return.Ruth is a delight and very helpful, we appreciated the welcome goodies, which we ate at the large garden table, enjoying the view, many barbecues followed.
Henfield downs link disused railway line was ideal for both adults and children to cycle. Washbrook farm also enjoyed by the children.
We ate out at Baloos, the royal oak and the Bull at Ditchling all good, but the barbecues and meals we had in The Mills
garden, were the children could play and we could all relax and be together, were hard to beat.
Thank you Ruth,John and Sam.
We were a group of seven outgoing Londoners (late 20s, early 30s) - we stayed at The Mill over a long August weekend.
The property itself is stunning, maintained with impressive precision and Ruth and her family showed us a warm sense of hospitality. The grounds were picturesque, sculpted and provided plenty of space to walk around (enough to get lost in your surroundings).
I should also mention that it is the perfect location if you do fancy a night out or two with Brighton around 20 minutes away by taxi - it really does give you the best of both.
Ruth has thought of everything - from the rustic tyre tree swing as you drive up the gravel, to a nostalgic selection of board games, a brilliant gas BBQ, country yet modern kitchen and nearly as many bathrooms as we had people, we even managed to source the equipment to have a post BBQ rounders match! There is no way you won't enjoy this - highly recommended for a chilled out weekend with the opportunity to still enjoy a late night out!
Excellent large character cottage and gardens
This is an excellent place to stay with plenty of space to relax away from it all. Large comfortable living rooms and beautifully decorated bedrooms, all with either ensuites or individual bathrooms. Well-equipped kitchen and particularly good patio area where we enjoyed several BBQs overlooking the gardens and woodland. Lots of car parking. We did walks from the house and along the South Downs, went to the seaside and Bluebell Railway and there are a multitude of other things to do in the area. The owner is the perfect host, charming, helpful and informative but never intrusive. Highly recommended.
Stunning cottage in beautiful countryside
You couldn't find fault with The Mill as a place to enjoy the beautiful south downs. The bedrooms were all stylish with modern bathrooms and the main living areas were full of charm and character, but laid out in such a way that our large party were very comfortable and could easily eat and relax all together. The landlady was lovely and left treats for us when we arrived. Brighton was close by for day trips but we were really lucky that the weather was perfect for outdoor activities on the downs. We'd highly recommend The Mill for your holiday!
