Just got home, and wanted to thank you for a wonderful stay in your gorgeous cottage. Being able to arrive early on Sunday was fabulous- and to find such a well equipped home from home was so welcoming. We stay away fairly frequently and have never found such a thoughtfully equipped cottage- the torches, tupperware, thermos flask, and picnic hamper were really appreciated... even though we had our own it was nice to know our needs were catered for. We enoy cooking, and found all the equipment that we could want. The standard of furnishings was excellent, and the whole theme,

Great cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable bed, functional clean bathroom and a kitchen where everything works. On top of that it's a really nice place. Dog liked it too, plenty to sniff in the enclosed garden as well as some great walks in walking distance. Kirkbymoorside is a great location for exploring the area, or just relaxing in the Kings Head pub or Penny Bank cafe. No hesitation in recommending Lantern Cottage.

What a great holiday in such a great cottage.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is beautiful. Very clean, and everything you"d need for a relaxing stay. The kitchen and bedrooms in particular are lovely. Me and my wife were jealous of our kids twin room as it was very cosy and the double velux windows gave a lovely view over back gardens, and sorrounding fields. The area is lovely with local shops meeting all your needs. The weekly village market on a Wednesday was good. We visited Scarborough, York and Whitby. All lovely. The kids enjoyed their stay too, as did our wee Shih Tzu puppy. Would HIGHLY recommend this cottage. Thanks Julie and Brett and the friendly villagers.

Cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful location. The cottage was perfect for our needs and very well presented and equipped. The location just off the main street in Kirkbymoorside was so convenient, a 2 minute walk for milk in the morning, whilst at the same time being so quiet and peaceful.

There is so much to do in the area that we didn't managed to fit everything into one week and definitely want to come back another time.

All in all, a lovely cottage in a great location.

Beautiful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful two weeks in this lovely cottage. The description was accurate but we found it to be even better than expected (The double bedroom was beautiful!) The cottage was clean and well equipped and in a perfect location for walking into the town for meals in the evening; we particularly liked The George and Dragon and Kings Head. It was also an ideal base for exploring. The neighbours were very friendly and helpful, providing information on local attractions, and explaining the refuse collections etc., although there was an excellent folder containing information in the cottage. The garden is a real suntrap and we spent many pleasant mornings/evenings on the decking on the very comfortable garden furniture The cottage felt like a real 'home from home' and our dogs settled in very quickly (they enjoyed watching people walk past the window!). We hope to visit again next year. Thank you Julie and Brett.

From the Owner

After being in love with the stunning scenery and lovely people of North Yorkshire for 30 years, finally we brought our cosy holiday cottage in 2012. Now we cannot wait to come and stay here ourselves each year, and hope you enjoy the cottage and Kirkbymoorside as much as we do. Your feedback is also greatly appreciated so that we can improve on our facilities to you.
