The Lodges have been part of the Estate since they were built - their heritage is our heritage! The Ruggles-Brise family have lived at Spains Hall since 1768, only the 3rd family to live here since 1086.

Charming cottage, well maintained, very clean and fully equipped.

Only stayed a couple of days (wish it could have been longer) but very impressed. It met all our needs and more. Beautiful setting and very close to the picturesque village of Finchingfield.

Lovely Cottage, Picturesque surroundings

South Lodge, offered warm, comfortable, cosy, accommodation in the most peaceful location, set amongst Chocolate-box villages and a short drive from large, historic towns!

A most welcome 'welcome pack' awaited our arrival, a thoughtful and considerate package from our host, leaving the cottage lacking no provisions or amenities!

We will return later in the year for more exploration of the gorgeous surroundings.

South Lodge has everything you need for an enjoyable self catering holiday in a rural location.

The rural cottage has all the modern conveniences you need and is very well managed. The management are friendly and approachable anytime. An excellent location for walking and exploring rural Essex. A car is essential. The no pets policy is a little disappointing, given the location. However we got a discount on local kennel accommodation.

We regret that due to the private nature of the grounds and surrounding farmland we are unable to allow renters access to either.
