Overview

About the property

Located in Seydikemer. Quiet location away from all the hustle & bustle yet just a short drive from Fethiye &Olu Deniz.

Exploring or chilling out, this is the perfect holiday location for you. Grab a hire car from Dalaman airport and in just over an hour you can unwind and take in everything that Turkey has to offer. This is a perfect location to explore the beautiful Turkish Beaches, Countryside and places of interest. Seydikemer village is 5 mins drive away with a bank, chemist, butcher, supermarkets, 24 hr doctor, cafés and restaurants and the local market every Friday. There’s also a large market every Tuesday in Fethiye where you can visit the cafes/restaurants along the marina or take a day boat trip with lunch included to see the 12 islands, take your swim wear ocean swimming is great fun! Fethiye is the shopping capital of the Region, haggle and get yourself a bargain, great prices on clothing/Genuine fake watches! or more traditional gifts. For the more adventurous why not try Scuba diving – we have! The food is very good with fresh fish in abundance, try the Fish Market select your fish and let the restaurant cook it for you. Turkish massage or shave its all here. Oludeniz is also just a short car drive from the Villa, another beautiful location which is one of the most photographed beaches in the world - simply stunning. The paragliding here is amazing - give it a go if you can hold your nerve! There are lots of other sights to see within easy reach of the Villa such as Yaka Park (beautiful Mountain top Gardens with an amazing restaurant location), Saklikent Gorge - you must do the walk through the Gorge to the waterfall and Tlos - this is an ancient ruined Lycian hilltop citadel, great photo opportunities at all three. If this sounds like too much excitement you can just sit by the pool at the villa and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, maybe even try the BBQ. We heartily recommend a local restaurant called Essenti in Seydikemer, this offers breathtaking views of the Town with Mountain views back towards the villa - just tell them Tony sent you! The Villa itself is bigger than most, fully air-conditioned of course, has marble flooring throughout with well equipped Bathrooms and spacious bedrooms. The downstairs is open plan with plenty of room for 8 people without tripping over each other. There is SatelliteTV, a stereo system and DVD player with a selection of DVD's and books for your enjoyment. Following feedback from our guests we have installed WIFI internet at the Villa for all 2016 bookings onwards. The Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need including a washing machine. You will not be disappointed with this Villa - have a great holiday.

About Anthony John Upton

Hello I am Tony and have been in the building industry for many years. I love to travel and on one such occasion happened upon Turkey. The Turkish country side, the people and the way of life really interested me. By the time I had visited a second time, I was hooked and the prospect of owning a villa built to my own specification, with a raised large plot and large pool became a reality. I wanted somewhere the family could visit and enjoy and after several changes to the building specification, achieved my goal. I can’t be out in Turkey all of the time and feel the villa can be enjoyed by other people as much as we have, so I have decided to rent. The very spacious villa and gardens are comfortable and private, just right for an uncomplicated holiday.

Anthony John Upton purchased this villa in 2010

Why Anthony John Upton chose Seydikemer

I chose the area due to it's beautiful location on the outskirts of a traditional Turkish town. The surrounding mountains are absolutely stunning and as the villa sits on its own in a beautiful peaceful rural setting. There are lovely views of countryside and woodland to the rear. It is an excellent central base from were you can drive to Tlos ruins, Saklikent Gorge for fun and culture and out to dinner in Olu Deniz , Hisaronu or Calis. But it is amazing to wake up in the morning and wander out onto the covered terrace for breakfast, or enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. Also the village of Seydikemer has absolutely every amenity you could need.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is on a large raised and terraced plot, there are spacious gardens, large private pool to accommodate all. There are pool sun loungers, chairs, tables and parasols. The garden has a variety of plants and shrubs, all of which is surrounded by traditional stone walls topped with black wrought iron. The kitchen is of large modern design to allow a natural break from the large lounge. You can enjoy eating alfresco style on the large covered terrace or sit just to have drinks and watch the amazing sunsets. You can escape the sun and read under the shade or visit the first terrace where you can also relax under the pergola. The 4 large double bedrooms allow views of the surrounding country. There are a separate group of rooms under the pool for relaxing away the main villa

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Tony

Well we are back in overcast Britain after an amazing 2weeks in Turkey. Thank you so much for the use of your villa, we really enjoyed everything and couldn't fault anything. Ray is an absolute star he helped with so much and him and Jill are both really lovely as you had said. Hopefully we will go back next year it is so peaceful and private only this time we will do so with plenty of notice so not so stressful rushing around! We went to quite a few places the most exciting being Saklikent Gorge which we walked up right past the waterfall at the end quite exhilarating to say the least!! The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves too both of the little ones have learnt to swim in your pool! It was so nice for them to be able to walk around with no shoes and little else they slept so well over there, however we have all come back fatter the food is so good too!! The fruit and fresh salad things gorgeous but the bread that was our undoing so fresh and tasty.

Thanks Manda xx

Fantastic Villa with great customer service!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived safe and sound for our holiday in Kemer, we followed the instructions that Marion kindly sent out to us prior to our trip, the instructions were clear and easy to understand tho I did forget to text Marion to let her know we are on our way when we left the airport ...sorry again Marion!

We met up after a quick call at the local garage and we followed Marion to the villa which was only 5 mins away. On arrival we drove down the hill and parked up outside the villa which even at night looked stunning. Marion made us feel very welcome and showed us round the villa ensuring we had everything we needed there was milk coffee and various other bits and bobs there to keep us going till the following morning.

We woke the first morning to meet Mick who came to clean the pool each morning who we really got on well with as well as Bob the gardener. Mick knows the local area really well and always on hand to offer advise on where to eat and visit. The gardens and pool were immaculate as well as the villa and the pool is massive!.

There were only a couple of negatives which would have made the villa a perfect choice.

We like remote villas but both run business's the lack of wifi especially for a villa this size is a bit poor. And I would imagine it would put off a lot of potential clients I did not read the post online correctly and assumed a villa this size would have wifi.

The Access to the villa could be improved especially near the gate, we understand that we are in a rural area but the turn into the villa grounds is a bit tight and very rocky.

A couple of minor things we do enjoy alfresco dining and found the bbq to be again very small for the size of the villa, also the shower we used upstairs did not have a sloped floor so you had to push the water towards to drain each time.

Bar the couple of things mentioned we had a great time and would highly recommend the villa.

Amazing Villa

  • 5 of 5

I traveled to this villa in Turkey this summer with my family of 7. We always prefer to stay in more private villas away from the main resorts. This villa had everything we could have wanted. The pool was amazing, the villa was spacious and clean and it was near a small village with several shops for all the necessities. The people who manage the villa (Marion and Ishak) couldn't be more helpful.

One downside was a lack of wi-fi, but since we mentioned this, they have had it put in!

Overall my family had a very good time and we look forward to coming back again in a couple of years.

Wonderful Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Wow - what a beautiful place! This was our first Family Holiday in Turkey but it will not be the last. The Villa was perfect for us - remote enough to to be peaceful and relaxing but close to the small town of Seydikemer for provisions. We spent a few days at the Villa and a few days out exploring. Fethiye and Olu Deniz are well worth a visit, the shopping in Fethiye was brilliant in the daytime and fantastic at night and the people were all so friendly, we felt very safe all of the time which is always reassuring. Ishak attended to the pool every day and was able to answer any questions that we had and offered some great advice on where to go/what to do. We had a fabulous time and will be back next year, highly recommended!

Wonderful holiday in Turkey

  • 5 of 5

The listing was very accurate. It's a lovely villa in a rural area with beautiful scenery and views. The pictures were accurate and current. The villa was more than adequately furnished and had everything we needed for our stay. It was clean and well maintained. Before we left the owners contacted us with lots of information and were happy to answer any queries we had.

The couple who look after the villa for the owners were very friendly and helpful. The pool was cleaned everyday which gave us an opportunity to ask any queries that we had, especially as road maps seemed few and far between. Also he was very happy to recommend the best places to eat, which included those that locals frequent.

We would certainly recommend this villa. The town is a small town and there are few tourists and the locals are friendly but don't have much English outside of the restaurants. Being off the tourist route meant that prices in the town were much lower than in the local tourist locations.

There are lots of historical sites to explore, that are well worth a visit especially Tloss, Pinara, Xanthos and Patara. Also we visited two lovely beaches at Patara and Dalyan. There are lots of boats trips on offer and some of the stops can be very busy with so many boats. We did the Blue Bays Tour which was a lovely relaxing day trip.

There were a few restaurants in Kemer were the food was ok but nothing special. Esente is worth a visit for the view alone. The pizza restaurant that the locals frequent was very good value for money.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. It is lovely to hear that our guests enjoyed the villa and the Turkish experience as much as we do. The Kemer village is a very simple Turkish village and as you say away from the main tourist areas. We hope you may be able to visit Turkey again one day, there's so much to see and do one visit never seems enough!

Location

Special interest holidays:

Turkey has a wealth of interests to whet the appetite of all, for the professional go diving in the crystal blue seas plus there are dive schools here for those that would like to give it a go or leisurely taking a boat trip to visit the 5 / 12 islands and enjoy lunch and an ocean dip.

Take in all the history that this area has by visiting them via a jeep safari, look up Tloss, Saklikent Gorge, Yaka Park trout farms, just want to rest and be pampered there are Turkish massages to be taken and spa treatments in Fethiye.

Turkey is well know for its amazing wild bird life, and if you’re very lucky see the tortoises climb the wooded area

Kayaköy (stone village) A fascinating and eerie ghost town lies in the hills between Olu Deniz and Fethiye hastily abandoned when its Greek population was repatriated in 1923 after the Greco-Turkish war. Gocek is about 1 hour away and well worth a visit the marina has some wonderful large yachts, lovely shops, restaurants

Coast/Beach:

By car Calis beach is 20 mins away sit in a restaurant and if your lucky watch the kite surfers. Aqua City water park is here too.

By car Olu Deniz is 40 mins away its the one with the most photographed Blue lagoon beach watch the Para gliders land on the beach or if you are brave have a go yourself. The beautiful Patara Beach is 40 mins away by car with 18 kilometres of sandy beach and a small cafe with beach shower/changing facilities

Travel:

Dalaman Airport is one hour and 20 mins away and transfers or car hire are easy to arrange, we can arrange this if you need help.

The main Antalya road is being upgraded, therefore travel with care, (always keep your driving licence and passports with you; together with your car hire details) just in case you are stopped for random police spot checks , Enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding country side, mountains and forrest areas. Look out for the wild tortoises and turtles!

Distances:

Kemer village by car 5 mins on foot 20 mins

Hisaronu is 30 mins by car

Olu Deniz is 40 mins by car

Calis is 20 mins by car

Uzumulu is 35 mins by car

Further Details:

Once you have arrived and settled into the villa you will realise that the local village of Kemer will be able to sustain your needs for food and beverages, all shop keepers are very helpful and like to practice their English but also like you to try to speak Turkish!

Kemer village is improving each year and new and interesting shops or cafes appear. There is an internet cafe too, a bank is in the centre of Kemer village with ATMs. You will find most of the shops and bank near the island, the Dolmus bus service to many locations will be located on both sides of the river bridge. Fatiths bar and restaurant are located on the Bank side of the river near Green Park and the fountain. There is a local restaurant on the hill called Esinti, which means breeze, where you can go for lunch or evening meal from simple omelettes to specialized Turkish dishes, where you can admire the views whilst enjoying a coffee.

There are traditional Turkish coffee houses too where the local men take their coffee and play table top games and the Turkish barber for that all important shave is located near by.

There is a beautiful restaurant "SunDial" ask our pool man and gardener for directions, there are many other details of interets within the Villa handbook.

If you want a larger super market try in Fethiye, called KIPPA owned by Tesco or MIGROS who sell everything

Please enjoy your holiday and be mindful of local Turkish farmers and their livestock and plants, who you find are most hospitable, keep the villa tidy and if you break anything please let us know and be prepared to replace it.
