About Simon

We are a married couple local to the property. We have always loved the cottage and we now want others to enjoy what it has to offer.

Simon purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Simon chose Hartshorne

The area has so much to offer. There is something for everyone. Walking, cycling, skiing, golf, a zoo, historical interests and more.

What makes this cottage unique

The property has everything to offer. You only have to look on Google maps.

Dry Ski slope, Real snow ski slopes, Twycross Zoo, Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, Leisure Centre, Calke Abbey Park, Staunton Harold Hall with Shops. Great local pubs and restaurants.

Footpaths/Cycle paths, two reservoirs, fishing.

Bus routes within very short walking distance.

Guestbook comments from the manager

A great base for travelling round. We came for a wedding and stayed the week. Places of interest visited include Calke Abbey, Kedleston and Sudbury Hall, National Memorable Arboretum, Lichfield, Foremark Reservoir. Mill Wheel great for Sunday lunch and the Bulls Head good for evening meals. Thank you very much for a lovely time.

Pleasant little cottage in a beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and dogs. We only really used the place to sleep the rest of our holiday was walking and seeing the surrounding countryside. It was just right for that type of holiday.

A cosy cottage with all the essentials needed for a short stay. Oven a little tricky to use. The bed was fantastic - really comfortable. Recommend shower curtain replaced with a fixed shower screen. Would definitely recommend staying and will look to re-book for another stay as soon as diary permits!!

Lovely Little Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable, compact cottage. A little snag with getting access to the keys but we contacted Simon and he sorted it out right away. Our phone (Three) didn't work unless we stood out at the road but we did have good WiFi in the cottage. Two great pubs in town. Nice to walk just across the road to the Mill Wheel or a couple of blocks to the Bull's Head.

Lovely dog friendly cosy cottage in good location

  • 4 of 5

Stayed in Hartshorne for February half term. Excellent walks around local reservoirs. Good for visiting both English Heritage and National Trust places of interest. Fabulous pub with good food opposite, also dog friendly, with huge log fire and welcoming staff. Very pleased with useful information and contact from owner prior to arrival. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.
