On the upper level of the villa there is a living-dining room with sea and garden views and sliding glass doors onto the outdoor entertainment terrace. There is a modern very well equipped, open plan eat-in kitchen which also has glass doors accessing the large terrace with fabulous sea views. The terrace is well equipped with outside dining furniture, lounge chairs, sun canopies and gas & coal BBQ. In addition, there is a TV playroom (satellite English TV/DVD), shower room, wc and utility room at this level. The villa has the benefit of wifi. On the lower level there are 4 bright and airy bedrooms all with sea and pool views and two similar sized bathrooms at each end. The beds are firm and comfortable with quality linen. One of the bathrooms is en-suite to the master bedroom and can also be accessed from the landing. All rooms have the benefit of a sink.
My husband and I live in London with our children and bought this villa for our family holidays. It is has been a special place for our family to enjoy holidays with our friends. We love the beach and the local beaches are sandy and very pretty.
Sarah Martin purchased this villa in 2005
We fell in love with the area on our first visit there because of the beautiful beaches, dramatic coast line, greenery, golf, coast line walks, exceptional restaurants and endless charming medieval villages to explore. The villa is situated on the prime location in the area, getting the sun all day and protected from the winds - unlike the other side of Aigua Blava. When we saw the view from our terrace we were sold, it is mesmerising and quite special.
The property has a great holiday feel, is bright, airy and is perfect setup for two families to share. It has large secured garden for the children to play and explore. The house & pool face south so gets the sun all day. There is plenty of space to get some alone time if needed.
Loved this villa - the view is spectacular. A great outdoor area for entertaining with lots of space. It is so well located as close to most things.
The pool is beautiful and such a good temperature. Our kids loved the table tennis and trampoline and the tv room is really well stocked with heaps of Dvds when they needed some quiet time out of the sun. We look forward to returning one day.
Our family visited from the states for an extended vacation as my husband and I had been wanting to return to Aiguablava with our children. We looked at many homes but kept coming back to this one. It looked incredible online but we had no idea how magnificent and magical it really was until we arrived. The moment you step in you’re greeted by such an amazing view and calm sea breezes. The home is a great size—perfect for our two young kids and us adults—but not too large. The grounds are so pretty, you’re drawn to spend time alone with a book, take a leisurely walk or simply observe the natural beauty. Best of all are your warm hosts: Sarah whose generous enough to share this family gem and answer many questions, and Jane, who manages the home locally (also answering many questions!). From start to finish we felt cared for—they truly wanted us to have a wonderful time. And we did! I can’t wait to return. It’s a beautiful, comfortable home in such a beautiful part of the world.
Great place for a relaxing family holiday
Love it, good place to go with you family, you have all the stuff you need for kids, close to Barcelona
We stayed in early July - two families with children ranging from aged 2-15. We loved the house. Sarah communicated fantastically from the moment of enquiry. Everything had been thought through, from detailed notes on the local area, equipment, DVDs for kids, pool inflatables, pool towels etc. We ate 4-5 recommended restaurants and visited 4 recommended local beaches - greatly appreciated the advice.
Views are fantastic and the house was perfect. Everything was absolutely exactly as it said on the tin.
Highly recommend.
This house is really well laid out and so well set up for the outdoor holiday experience. The large terrace straight off the kitchen is fantastic for entertaining and has the most amazing view. You really feel like you are on holiday in this house. The bedrooms are comfortable with good mattresses and linen and they have great views of the sea.
The pool and garden are lovely. It is a great area to explore but I have to admit it is very hard to leave the sun lounge by the pool. Our favourite beach to visit was Aigua Blava but be warned you need to get down there in the peak season by 9.30/10am to get a park (worth the effort as it is so pretty). Sarah gave us lots of restaurant and recommendations for the area which was really useful. Will definitely return soon.
Coast/Beach:
We are just above the beautiful sandy cove of Aigua Blava which is a 5 minute drive down the hill. The beaches of Llafranc, Tamariu, Calella, Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, and Aigua Gelida, are all within a short drive. This is a great area for walking as there are 'rights of way' and walking paths along the entire coastline.
Travel:
To really enjoy your holiday in this area a car is essential. The nearest airport is Girona less than one hour away, Perpignan is 90mins, Barcelona 90 mins. Car hire is readily available and quite reasonable from the airports.
Distances:
The nearest small town Begur, a 5 minute drive, is, a charming bustling town crowned with an impressive hilltop castle, is a charming place to shop, roam the cobbled streets, have a drink in the square or enjoy one of the many excellent Catalan restaurants. Palafrugell is our nearest market town and offers a great choice of shops with everything you could want. There is a daily market with meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. On Sunday the big market takes place.
Further Details:
There are dozens of medieval villages in the area which offer great restaurants, boutiques and history, some of our favourites being Pals, Peratallada, Ullastret, roman ruins at Empuries and the ruined fort at Torroella de Montgri. Girona is fascinating; explore the ancient Jewish quarter, cathedral and walks. The Dali theatre museum in Figueres is amazing, Cadaques (home to Dali), a quaint fishing village a great day trip; ceramics and pottery shops at La Bisbal. Further afield, Barcelona is well worth seeing; the bus tour is particularly good and easy to do.
There is something for everyone in this area described as the jewel of the Costa Brava: relaxing in the villa, by the pool or on one of the many beaches; spectacular coastal and rural walks, water sports, marine reserves (Ses Negres, Islas Medes), golf, tennis, scuba diving, water park, horse-riding, go-karting; daily markets held each day of the week in a different nearby village or town; cafes, shops, superb restaurants either by the sea. This area is well known for its exceptional standard of cooking, both at inexpensive and at the more gourmet restaurants. There is somewhere to suit all budgets and tastes.
