About the property

Skrinkle is a beautiful Georgian Cottage set on the sunny side of a quiet cobbled street.

Skrinkle is a beautiful cottage, full of character with light and comfortable modern living. Within old town walls of Tenby, short stroll to Paragon cliff top gardens and steps down to golden sands of Castle beach. Around the corner from St Mary's Street walk to sample the café culture, enquire about the fisherman's catch in the local pub, treat yourself in a lovely restaurant or try catching your own supper on the way back from Caldey Island. Skrinkle Cottage has welcomed young families, 'Iron Man' triathletes, couples to 'get away from it all', dog owners looking for the ultimate beach dog walks and weekend friends wanting a blast of sea air. Room to store surf boards, kayaks, bikes etc. We love previous visitor's comments in the guest book who have complimented the location, enjoyed all that the pretty town of Tenby has to offer, slept well snuggled in comfy beds. Left the car in the same spot for a week and walked or used the coastal shuttle buses to get about.

About Sally Kinnear

We live on a farm near a castle and estuary about 6 miles from Tenby near in the surrounded by fields and woodland on which we keep Welsh Black Cattle and other animals. Over the years we have built up and experienced many people, families, couples, groups coming to visit Pembrokeshire and feel very satisfied when they've had a wonderful time.

There are now a variety of different places that we offer from rooms in the farmhouse, a Shepherd's Hut, tree house, cottages by the sea and on the farm see for our other accommodation all in their own unique locations perfectly placed for a holiday.

Sally Kinnear purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Sally Kinnear chose Tenby

Skrinkle Cottage was up for sale and spotted by Grandparent's John & Boo. They just loved the location and knew that it may be the next building project for Jim.

A fantastic story of Kirkland a racehorse trained locally in Lawrenny, his stable lad was so sure he had the winner for the 1905 Grand National that he piled part of his weekly wages on all winter. The Tenby bookie couldn't afford cash payout so had to give the lad Skrinkle Cottage! 3 generations of the Thomas family had lived there ever since.

We renovated in 2000 and its been providing a great space for holidays since Easter 2002.

What makes this cottage unique

So close to The Paragon, can enjoy a breakfast overlooking the sea in the cliff top gardens, walk down to the beach and back to the cottage for anything. One of the best locations in Tenby, St Mary's Street is really quiet yet right in the centre to get everywhere.

Skrinkle Cottage has 3 bedrooms for up to 6 people yet cosy, light modern living in a cottage built between 150 and 200 years ago. Warm, comfortable, relaxing with extras like free wifi, a flat screen tv. A lovely private walled garden straight out of French doors in the kitchen for an extra outdoor room, outside seating for 6, a Webber BBQ and wooden decking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

*Sunshine everyday (23rd - 30th March)! Beaches are doggy heaven. Lovely warm friendly cottage and the treat of welsh cakes and a cup of tea. Many thanks J,T and Jack the Spaniel

*Our first Iron Man Wales, awesome course. Cottage perfect. Matt, Sarah, & Tim

*Thank you for the use of your wonderful cottage. Caldey Island boat trip is a must. Ella and Max had a fab time swimming in the sea and building sand castles. (Ocean Commotion highly recommended for a rainy afternoon). See you next year! The Chalmers, Gloucestershire

Notes on accommodation: Sorry no smoking. Dogs are allowed but please discuss with owner. We have make a small charge of £30 for dogs to cover extra cleaning costs and have a few house rules: dogs have to stay downstairs at all times (there is a stair gate) off furniture and please bring their own beds / cages to make them feel at home. Also throws for the sofas, this helps stop hairs, sand etc as they brush past. Thank you. Mains gas central heating with controllable radiators in every room and a cast iron fire powered by gas. Travel cot and high chair stored in cottage. Outside: Beyond the kitchen is an 'outside room' A high original stone walled yard area with decked floor, patio table/chairs, barbecue, drying line. Safe place for little ones to play. Beautifully sheltered sun trap. Just off the kitchen so an extra 'dining room'. The closest beach is less than a minute on foot, the other Tenby beaches and Caldey Island boat are a 5 minute walk. Utility Room: No washing machine, however there is a launderette in the adjacent street (about 1 minute walk away). Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Weekly changeover & clean between 10am & 3pm, Friday (short break days vary). Beds are made up, bath, hand, tea towels, oven gloves (not beach towels) provided. Fresh flowers, tea, coffee, milk & welsh cakes to help you unwind on arrival. Other: Free WIFI in the cottage.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Skrinkle is a lovely quaint cottage, ideally situated. The dog friendly south beach is a couple of minutes walk away, our two Jack Russells loved their daily run on the beach, a minutes walk in the opposite direction and you are in the middle of the shops, bars and restaurants. We enjoyed fantastic weather for late September and will definitely try to stop here again next time we visit Tenby.

Quirky and convenient

  • 4 of 5

Would thoroughly recommend a stay at Skrinkle Cottage. It's central location is perfect for nipping into town or popping down to the beach. We parked in the nearby Rectory Road car park - a five minute walk away - and bought a ticket for the week. Able to stop and unload fairly easily, but needed to get our head around the one-way system.

As for the cottage, it's clean, quirky and functional. The beds are incredibly comfortable with good quality linen. Has the added bonus of being dog-friendly. Loved it.

Owner's Response: Thank you to the Halls for your lovely comments. We are looking into wifi so hoping that this will be up and running before Christmas.....there is a Tenby Town open zone just around the corner in Tudor Square but a bit chilly to sit on the street bench for too long in the winter I suppose!! Best wishes Jim & Sally PS It was great to find the cottage in good order at changeover (this isn't always the case!) THANK YOU :-)
