Fantastic location in Old Town Tenby, 100m to beach. Quiet sunny street. WIFI

Updated: 01-Oct-2016
Skrinkle Cottage, St Mary's Street, Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Perfectly Placed For A Holiday

Skrinkle is a beautiful cottage, full of character - renovated for maximum comfort. Within old town walls of Tenby, short stroll to Paragon cliff top gardens and steps down to golden sands of Castle beach. Around the corner from St Mary's Street walk to sample the café culture, enquire about the fisherman's catch in the local pub, treat yourself in a lovely restaurant or try catching your own supper on the way back from Caldey Island. Skrinkle Cottage has welcomed young families, 'Iron Man' triathletes, couples to 'get away from it all', dog owners looking for the ultimate beach dog walks and weekend friends wanting a blast of sea air. Room to store surf boards, kayaks, bikes etc. We love previous visitor's comments in the guest book who have complimented the location, enjoyed all that the pretty town of Tenby has to offer, slept well snuggled in comfy beds. Left the car in the same spot for a week and walked or used the coastal shuttle buses to get about.

About the Owner

We live with our boys in the heart of rural South Pembrokeshire surrounded by fields and woodland on which we keep Welsh Black Cattle and other animals.

The feeling of space is great and have embraced the latest trend of triathlon so plenty of open water swimming, cycling and running on the golden beaches! Although have the chance of using a beautiful sailing boat this summer so maybe that'll have to change!

Our boys love their rugby in the winter and cricket in the summer amongst other things so well into the community spirit.

After all these activities we do enjoy eating out and also cooking at home.

Jim has renovated many beautiful properties, particularly stone ones starting up in his native Cumbria now down in Sally's part of the world. The holiday lets are all his creations

*Thank you for the use of your wonderful cottage. Caldey Island boat trip is a must. Ella and Max had a fab time swimming in the sea and building sand castles. (Ocean Commotion highly recommended for a rainy afternoon). See you next year! The Chalmers, Gloucestershire

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Skrinkle is a lovely quaint cottage, ideally situated. The dog friendly south beach is a couple of minutes walk away, our two Jack Russells loved their daily run on the beach, a minutes walk in the opposite direction and you are in the middle of the shops, bars and restaurants. We enjoyed fantastic weather for late September and will definitely try to stop here again next time we visit Tenby.

Quirky and convenient

  • 4 of 5

Would thoroughly recommend a stay at Skrinkle Cottage. It's central location is perfect for nipping into town or popping down to the beach. We parked in the nearby Rectory Road car park - a five minute walk away - and bought a ticket for the week. Able to stop and unload fairly easily, but needed to get our head around the one-way system.

As for the cottage, it's clean, quirky and functional. The beds are incredibly comfortable with good quality linen. Has the added bonus of being dog-friendly. Loved it.

Owner's Response: Thank you to the Halls for your lovely comments. We are looking into wifi so hoping that this will be up and running before Christmas.....there is a Tenby Town open zone just around the corner in Tudor Square but a bit chilly to sit on the street bench for too long in the winter I suppose!! Best wishes Jim & Sally PS It was great to find the cottage in good order at changeover (this isn't always the case!) THANK YOU :-)

From the Owner

This 'gem' was spotted by Grandparents John & Boo who always loved properties within the Old Town Walls of Tenby especially on the sunny side of St Mary's St. A fantastic story of Kirkland a racehorse trained locally in Lawrenny, his stable lad was so sure he had the winner for the 1905 Grand National that he piled part of his weekly wages on all winter. The Tenby bookie couldn't afford cash payout so had to give the lad Skrinkle Cottage! 3 generations of the Thomas family had lived there ever since. We renovated in 2000. Replaced outside loo, coal/wood shed with eating/sun trap area. Showed original fire places and beams. Added insulation, damp proof, new slate roof & skylights, open light space downstairs (salvaged floor boards) Central heating and general creature comforts.

From the Owner

Occasionally we treat ourselves to stay in Skrinkle for a winter weekend (home is only 6 miles away!) We just love the sound of the seagulls through the sky windows, leaving the car and walking everywhere enjoying the convenience of 'town'. Take our terrier for a blast on the beaches. Sometimes eat out but usually buy fresh fish from the harbour fishmongers, warm bread in Laugharne Bakery, fruit & veg in Four Seasons, a bottle of wine & a paper. Light the fire and chill out. Joy:D Would love to make the most of a summer week but it always gets booked up! Dream of a pre-breakfast dip, a day on the beach or a trip to Caldey Island, come back for a shower and sit down to a game of backgammon before going out for some alfresco dining....one day!
