Town House in Keswick, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Central Location 10 Second From High Street Quiet Location Easy Reach Of Walks And Bars

A spacious town house siutuated in a perfect location in the middle of Keswick in a quiet road which leads to Lower Fitz Park with its great outdoor space which includes a new playground with zip lines etc for the children to enjoy. The house was refurbished in summer 2013 and furnished and equipped to a high standard. All bedrooms are good size upper bedrooms lovely views of hills around Keswick. ETB Certificated. Large TV freeview. Wireless internet available as well as DVDs, games and books. 2 receptions rooms 1 with large dining table. Rear parking space available for small to medium car. Unrestricted parking is available on the road outside. There is a front patio area with table and chairs( barbecue available). The beautiful Lake Derwentwater is a 5-10 minute stroll from the house and is a flat easy walk. There are a range of lovely flat walks around the lake or you can catch a steamer and explore the scenic villages surrounding the Lake.

About Jill

We love the Lake District and Keswick in particular. The stunning beauty of the area is very very special. We have visited many places in the world but the Lake District is somewhere we have wanted to return to time and time again. The scenery is stunning, we have enjoyed exploring various walks and have progressed in difficulty in our walks starting with Latrigg, then Walla Crag and then last weekend we walked up Catbells. The views were breathtaking and we had a fantastic day despite falling in a puddle on the way down! We bought this house in December 2013 and spent the next 3 months refurbishing it. We are really pleased with the result and so are the guests who have visited the house to date. We hope that you will visit and enjoy both the house and the area as much as we do.

Keswick Group Stay

Cottage is excellent for a group stay, lovely large rooms and plenty of communal space. The location cannot be faulted, just off the centre so quiet enough on an evening but 2 minute walk to shops and bars.

Fantastic value and special mention for the owner whom answered any questions, keeps a good clean property and is genuinely freindly. 10 out of 10!

Wonderful birthday celebration weekend with family

We had a really lovely long weekend celebrating my husband's birthday with our family. The house was perfect for us. It was very spacious and enabled everyone to have their own space when they wanted it but also we enjoyed sitting together,around the dining table to enjoy a celebratory meal and also to play some of the great games that were in the house.

The house was very very clean and well equipped and had everything to make us comfortable. One of the bedrooms had two easy chairs and a coffee table which was very useful for my son and his wife and their baby.

The house was perfectly located for us, just off the high street. This meant that while some went for walks others were able to explore the town and the Lake and everyone had a great time. The choice of bars and restaurants were brilliant and just round the corner. We parked our car in the parking space, other family members managed to find parking in the street outside, and we never moved our cars as everything was on our doorstep.

We intend to to make this an annual event and would definitely recommend.

Perfect weekend with friends

Stayed here for a university reunion weekend. 10 people plus one baby.

The house was perfect for us spacious, well equipped very clean and warm and in an ideal location right in the centre of Keswick. The dining room and table where we ate on the first evening were both good sizes

and we had a great evening playing the games provided and even lit the real fire.

The vanity units in the bedrooms and bathroom and shower room and separate toilet was well organized and convenient for a large group.

We enjoyed some lovely walks and didn't even have to move the car. I parked my car, a vauxhall astra, in the house's parking space at the rear it is a bit of a tight squeeze. The others managed to find parking in the road.

Would definitely recommend and will return.

Great location but not a parking spot

The location for this house is wonderful. It's in the center of Keswick and it's easy to walk to pubs, restaurants or a grocery store. The house is older which means both charm and all the typical old house problems. The stairs in particular were difficult for both my young sons and my elderly mother. The kitchen is newly renovated but nothing else is. I would like the owners to stop advertising this house as having a parking spot. So would their neighbors. I know because we talked. If you have to exit a medium size car through the trunk, the space is not big enough to be a spot. There is street parking and while it's pretty full we were able to get a spot on the street every time so it's manageable. Paying for the house was not a problem. I used the bank transfers and had no issue. Pick up and drop off of the key was very easy. I would recommend parking at the house and walking over to get the key since there is no parking by the office. Over all it was an adequate rental experience.

Owner's Response: The house is indeed in a wonderful location and we are pleased that this guest appreciated it. We refurbished the entire house just over four years ago. The house was built in the 1880s and is one of the early houses built right in the centre of Keswick. When we refurbished the house we deliberately tried to keep as many of the lovely original features as we possibly could, original slate floors in the dining room, wonderful original tiled hallway plus original fireplaces in the bedrooms and lounge. This is a very popular house with guests returning year on year. We constantly renew and replace things ,for example last year the beds in three of the bedrooms were replaced with new zip and link beds and all bedding has been renewed in the last six months. As this is a terraced house it does have some 'wedged' shaped treads where the staircase turns which is in keeping with this age of house. We have had many many families etc stay at the house and have no-one has ever reported these as being difficult before. You just need to keep to take a bit of care and keep to the outside of the stair and then the width is the same as all the other stairs. The car parking space is suitable for a small to medium sized car I know this because we use it regularly with our Vauxhall Astra! We also own the road at the rear of the house and give access to other houses adjacent via this road. Guests can unload in this space and then park the car. Fortunately there are often parking spaces available outside but the space is useful if when guests arrive there are no spaces available at that time. Sometimes guests can be somewhat ambitious and through great skill get a car into the space which is too small for their particular car.... Hence this guest having to get out of their boot.. 'Trunk'! Fortunately we have never had to exit our car in this space via our boot!!

Keswick has something to offer everyone from walkers / climbers to artists, sports enthusiasts and jazz lovers. It has a range of special events throughout the year for example , mountain, jazz, beer, rugby, triathalon,christian conferences/festivals. Look tourist information for more details.

There are also a wide range of restaurants and cafes for all tastes and budget just a minute from the house. There is also a good choice of independent pubs with amazing local beers available.

Coast/Beach:

The Cumbrian coast is a 30 minute drive from the house. This is a perfect loation to use as a base to explore the Lakes and places like Ambleside and Windermere or visit Wordswroths Dove Cottage and Grasmere or buttermere and the Eden Valley.

Travel:

As this property is centrally located if guests which to stay in and around Keswick a car is not required as everything is within an easy walk. However although there are regular bus services to Ambleside Windermere etc a car is advised to reach the less popular parts of the National Park.

Distances:

Keswick Centre less than 1 minute walk

Grasmere 20 minute car

Ambleside 25 minute car

Windermere 35 minute car.

Scottsih border area 40 minutes car.

Further Details:

There are a range of shops within a 5 minute walk from the house including Booths supermarket. There are banks etc within a three minute walk from the house and the choive of coffee shops, restaurants pubs and restaurants is excellent.
