About the property

A Stunning Location With Breathtaking Views

Located in peaceful and breathtaking countryside in 5 acres of private gardens and woodland at the foot of Skiddaw, 1 mile from Keswick, Ormathwaite Coach House (Grade II listed) is a stunning property refurbished to a very high standard.

The Coach House is renovated to a high standard whilst retaining its original character of vaulted beamed ceilings. There is under floor heating, a well equipped kitchen with electric Aga. All bedrooms are en-suite and there is a spacious living/dining room. The Coach House boasts comfort and luxury at its very best.

Ideal for special celebrations with families and friends Ormathwaite is just a short drive from Keswick ( a lovely half hour stroll!) and there are attractions nearby to suit everyone.

A winter break is spectacular and Christmas is magical at Ormathwaite - with a traditional tree, decorations and all the trimmings you'd expect in a historical family home.

About Michael Derek Clayton

Ormathwaite Hall and Coachouse has been home to our family for many years. It is a friendly, cosy home with a high standard of furnishings and decoration, where we have enjoyed many memorable family and friends occasions.

The garden and grounds have been a particular passion and pleasure(and lots of hard work!).

Why Michael Derek Clayton chose Keswick & North Lakes

Ormathwaite Hall Coachouse is situated in beautiful, and peaceful countryside at the foot of Skiddaw, with exceptional panoramic views of Causey Pike,Borrowdale Fells down to Derwentwater and beyond.

A unique location in which to have a home, and yet it's only a mile from the centre of Keswick, and a walk to the local Pub (The Pheasant Inn).

Beautiful House, Amazing Location, Wonderful Hosts

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a wonderful Easter weekend in the Lake District. We couldn't believe our luck having found this property, and we will 100% be returning in the future.

The house itself is beautiful, with gorgeous features including a four poster bed! Everything was super clean, and the rooms had everything we could have needed and more. Having four bathrooms just made everything easier too. We would have loved to spend more time in the garden, though we were out walking most of the days. It is absolutely beautiful and kids would love it.

The location was the main reason for selecting the house - an easy 10/15 minute walk into Keswick (pubs, supermarkets, even a few takeaways) and sat right beneath Skiddaw and Latrigg, both fantastic walks. It was so nice to be able to just walk out of the house and onto some great routes, plus the ability to visit some pubs on the way back!

June and Mike have been super, all the way from first enquiries till now. June stopped in to say hello after we first arrived and gave us all the information we needed. about the house and the surrounding area. We felt so welcome and completely comfortable in their property.

I will be recommending the Coach House to any of my family and friends visiting the area, and am thoroughly looking forward to returning. Thanks again June and Mike.

Lovely house in a beautiful, quiet setting

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the Coach house over the bank holiday weekend. The Coach House was the perfect size for six and had all the amenities you might need (although we struggled to find a bottle opener).

June and Michael were very accommodating and communicative in the lead up to our stay and made us feel welcome on arrival.

The place was clean and had good spaces for relaxing and eating. The kitchen has a lovely aga for when you get back from long walks and the downstairs has underfloor heating throughout. Upstairs there is a log burner.

The gardens are also lovely (although we didn't get to enjoy these as it rained for most of our stay).

The location is also fantastic, only a mile or so to Keswick, which is walkable although along some big roads, and there is a footpath at the back of the house which takes you up to Lanrigg or Skiddaw. There's plenty of parking at the house too.

I'd definitely recommend.
