"La Tramontane" is a modern Mediterranean villa situated on the edge of the village of Embres-et-Castelmaure. Set among the vineyards of Languedoc, sun-drenched limestone hills, aromatic pines and herbs. Surrounded by a young garden of 2000m2, fenced, ideal for your pets and safe for your children. We are a Polish-British couple living and working in the UK, France and Poland. We have two gorgeous Golden Retrievers, accompanying us wherever we go. We had spent many great holidays in France before we decided to settle in Embres-Et-Castelmaure.
Having explored France we fell in love with the Corbieres hills. We found the smell of the garrigue intoxicating and we love the sun of Languedoc and the Tramontane - a wind that brings a relief on particularly hot days.

The property is ideal for those who enjoy a rural French ambiance, lazy summer barbecues and peace, for those who want to experience the real France.
But if you fell like visiting places that do not offer this level of peace, get in your car and drive to the coast (only 30 min away).
Quiet location, Mediterranean climate, excellent wine, dog-friendly property
We arrived home yesterday after a fantastic two weeks in this lovely villa in the Corbiere Hills.
The villa is set in a rural village, reached by some narrow roads with beautiful views.
The location was ideal for us as we were looking for a relaxing holiday spent around a pool with some day trips to the coast and surrounding countryside.
The inside of the villa was lovely. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. The shower was powerful, just what we needed after a day by the sea or pool.
The garden is, as it says in the description, still quite new. The patio, pool and seating area were lovely. The main part of the garden is still a work in progress, but my children enjoyed "going on an adventure" where they walked around the stubbly grass.
Although there are no shops in the village we enjoyed walking around, our children enjoyed looking for the donkeys at the entrance to the village each time we left the villa.
The communications from the owner before we went were fantastic, lots of advice about where to visit, places to buy wine and eat etc.
Coast/Beach:
The fine white sand beaches of the Mediterranean are a 30 min drive away. The beaches in La Franqui and Port Lecaue are highly recommended.
Travel:
By air: low-cost airlines fly to Perpignan (nearest airport), Carcassonne, Beziers, Montpellier and Girona (Spain).
By train: there is a high speed train from Paris to Perpignan
Due to the rural nature of the area you will need a car to get around.
Distances:
8km to Durban-Corbieres, a full service village with: bakery, supermarket, restaurant, bank, surgery, dentist, pharmacy, petrol station and a tabac.
3km to the nearest village of St.Jean-de-Barrou (small grocery shop and bakery)

Languedoc's diversity caters for all tastes, from mountaineering to wind surfing, from riding to sunbathing, from diving to canoeing. There are lots of medieval towns and the Cathar Castles, numerous monasteries and churches and medieval festivals. The African Wildlife Reserve at Sigean is one of the most highly rated parks in Europe. Visit also the Terra Vinea near Portal des Corbieres. Further away is the picturesque Canal du Midi and Carcassonne - the historic walled city. Countless restaurants and cafes offer local dishes and excellent wine, all at reasonable prices.
