Thanks Helen, for the wonderful experience

We, of three generations, totally enjoyed our stay at Ashstead Farmhouse. We were visiting Lake District, and decided to stay on this farm, just some miles away from most of the attractions. The farmstay turned out to be a lovely attraction itself. Children fed the lambs, picked chicken eggs and hung out with the friendly cats. Special thanks to Harold, who showed us around his chicken farm and educating us on farming. It was a pity that we missed the sheep shearing this morning, as it had to be postponed due to the rain.

We arrived late at night and was insecure while travelling along the dark narrow roads. Fortunately, the GPS sent by Helen was spot on. There were two little gates to open, and a warm greeting by a group of sheep, before we reached the lovely white house.

House is beautiful, spacious, very clean and well-equipped. Thank you very much, Helen, for your thoughtfulness. Will certainly come back here if we come back to Lake DIstrict.

Beautiful Spacious Cottage in the Lake District

Beautiful spacious cottage in a wonderful surrounding with a home from home feeling. A really spacious cottage with a well equipped kitchen with all the necessary utensils provided although a dishwasher was greatly missed. The cottage has a large lounge which was very useful in the evenings. The dining room with the large dining table was also well appreciated. The bedrooms were also spacious and well equipped with comfortable beds and other furniture.

We enjoyed the open fire and the piano. We also appreciated the games, thoughtfully provided for rainy days.

A second shower in the downstairs bathroom would have been handy for a large group like ours.

On the whole a great weekend stay and would definitely come again to this cottage.

Lovely old farmhouse with open fire in a quiet setting, plenty of space + well-maintained

We found the property to be even bigger + better than we'd expected. The lounge is extremely comfortable with the open fire (plenty of wood + coal supplied). The dining room has a large table which was perfect for our A level + degree level students to do their swatting as well as comfortably seating the 7 of us for meals.

The kitchen is well equipped with large fridge and plenty of big pans for a big family.

We appreciated the second loo too.

The porch was great for leaving all our boots and bike helmets and we were able to store our bikes safely too.

The location is ideal for both Lakes and Howgills - not far from Kendal with Aldi + Morrisons on the right side of town. You can cycle from the door along some very quiet single track roads. Also not far to drive up the A6 to get to some bigger hills and very handy for an afternoon trip to Sedbergh + Farfield Mill. We didn't manage to fit in a trip to the chocolate factory up by Junction 39 of the M6. Maybe next time.

Our kids enjoyed meeting all the cats and naming them all! We managed to leave without taking one of them with us!!
