In addition to skiing and cycling, the chalet is convenient for shopping and sightseeing, with Tarbes, Pau and Lourdes all close by, and for golfers there is a beautiful 18-hole course (overlooking the mountains) within 5 minutes drive of the chalet. Walking opportunities are extensive in this area and there are many fabulous walks all within close reach. Trout fishing, horse riding, para-gliding, flying, motocross, go-karting, rock-climbing, canoeing, sailing and rafting are also all catered for locally. Or you can take things at a more leisurely pace and visit the charming local French and Basque mountain villages, the beautiful Jurancon wine region near Pau or take a day trip over the mountains into Spain via the many passes or tunnels. Within 1 Hour 40 Drive From Toulouse And Biarritz Airports, 30 Minutes To Tarbes Lourdes Airport

Why Richard Burgess chose Pouzac

We love visiting France for its culture, great scenery and we particularly love mountains and walking. We visited the Hautes Pyrenees recently and immediately fell in love with the area. It is traditional France, with many old customs, and the people are very friendly. On our first day in the area we met a French farmer bringing his sheep down from the mountains on the main road. The Pyrenees mountains themselves are awe inspiring and a wonderful back drop to the many walks you can do in the area. We have always wanted to buy a property in France and we knew when we visited Bagneres de Bigorre in the Pyrenees that we had found the perfect place for our home in France. We hope that you will love the place as much as we do.

What makes this chalet unique

The main attraction of Villa Tamerza when we decided to buy the house was that it was situated in the countryside yet was only 5 minutes from Bagneres de Bigorre with all its facilities, restaurants and a place to buy your croissants in a morning. Of course the fact that you can wake up to views of the Pyrenees mountains each day is incomparable. The house has its own pool and tennis court, plus is an excellent base for cyclists (it is on the main Tour de France route and is a mecca for cycling), which were added bonuses not only for ourselves but also for our guests. You can quickly drive to many great scenic areas in the region as you are already close to the mountains not only for walking but also for skiing and many other outdoor activities.

Notes on accommodation: Villa Tamerza offers extensive living accommodation with the benefit of a private pool and tennis court. It is therefore excellent for large families, groups of friends, but also offers a comfortable option for couples or smaller groups. The villa is particularly popular with skiers, cyclists and walkers but is also a good base for general sightseeing in the area. The chalet is overseen locally by a local English couple who have been based in the region for over 5 years who are on call during your stay and who handle the turn around service. The chalet is within easy reach of all local amenities including supermarkets as well as the local boulangerie, boucherie, plus a range of restaurants in Bagneres de Bigorre. Outside: The chalet is situated in circa 2 acres of private garden which offers a swimming pool (8m x 4m and 1.5m deep, unheated) and a full size tennis court (for private use of guests). There is an outside terrace with access from the kitchen overlooking the pool with an outside table and seating. There is a long drive to the rear of the chalet with ample parking for several cars. A BBQ, garden furniture and tennis racquets are available for use and stored in the basement. Utility Room: Villa Tamerza has a chalet-style basement with inside parking for one car, washing machine, tumble dryer, log store, sun loungers, garden furniture, BBQ and games room with table tennis table. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided and changed weekly (sun towels are not provided for use around the swimming pool). The chalet is cleaned and prepared before arrival. A local English couple oversee the chalet and are on call for any eventualities.

Lovely, comfortable spacious and well equipped chalet near to lots of activities and places

Villa Tamerza is a lovely spacious, airy chalet and really well equipped, big table for eating around, comfy lounge with 'real' fireplace, super equipped kitchen and all bedrooms and bathrooms are a great size, some with views of the mountains. Plenty of entertainment, pool, tennis court, large garden and games room. It's in a great location for getting out to nearby towns Bagnere, Pau, Lourdes etc..and only half-an-hour from a fabulous skiing resort. Lots of walks nearby, and Bagnere is a lovely little local town for restaurants, shops, markets and the amazing spa. Definitely need a car for the chalet. We would definitely go again.

maison confortable et agréable pour se retrouver en famille. dommage qu'elle soit au bord de la route de tarbes, nous étions réveillés par le bruit des voitures (la maison ne dispose pas de double vitrage) ce qui risque d'être difficile à supporter en été.

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The Mediterranean is 3.5 hours drive (Perpignon) and the Atlantic is 2.5 hours drive (Biarritz) both offering different activities and sightseeing options.

Travel:

The chalet is close to 4 airports - Toulouse (1hr 40) with BA to Heathrow, easyJet to Gatwick/Bristol, and Jet2 to Edinburgh/Leeds Bradford/Manchester - Biarritz airport (1hr 40) offers easyJet to Gatwick, and Ryanair to Stansted/Manchester - Tarbes airport (25 mins) offers Ryanair to Stansted. Car hire is essential. Ferries - The chalet is 20 mins from the A64 auto route and 11 hours drive from Calais, 9 hours from Cherbourg/Caen, 3 hours from Bilbao.

Distances:

From Villa Tamerza you can easily reach many of the regions attraction within one hour and normally much less. Bagneres de Bigorre is 5 minutes drive from the villa, with the Pic du Midi (Grand Tourmalet skiing, Col du Tourmalet cycling route, and cable car to the observatory) circa 30 minutes drive away. Lourdes is circa 20 minutes drive and Pau, a beautiful old French town is about one hour away. Famous regional sites such as Gavarnie and the caves of Labastide are also within one hour.

Further Details:

Bagneres de Bigorre is a small spa town with a large spa facility recently opened in the town. Bagneres also offers a range of restaurants, an Intermarche supermarket, a diverse range of local shops as well as banks and a Saturday market.
