The properties are all four star, spacious & modern cottages, fitted and equipped to a high standard. See own website at foot of page. They are situated on a working farm on the peaceful & beautiful North Northumberland Coast. All have secure gardens. Sandy beaches and rock pools to the north & the south of the farm. There is some water sport to the south. Easily reached from the A1. Car essential. Railway stations are at Berwick-upon-Tweed, 14 miles & at Alnmouth, 19 miles. Free Wifi available.

About Mrs Ros Reay
My husband has lived at Elwick all of his life & when we got married in 1970 we set up home here. We have three daughters, all married now, but the oldest one, her husband & their two boys now run the farm. They moved into our house but we still live on the farm. We have been involved with holiday cottages for thirty years now & thoroughly enjoy meeting visitors who have now become friends & new ones who we hope will. As we live 'on the spot' we are available to answer questions or sort any problems that anyone may have.

Why Mrs Ros Reay chose Northumberland
Our cottages were all used as farm workers homes & have gradually been changed over the years as they have been vacated. We live in a beautiful peaceful part of the world & consider ourselves very lucky. When we return from a holiday we always say 'well, our coastline is beautiful here too'. The population here is small & the roads not nearly as busy as further south, so getting around is not a problem.
What makes this cottage unique
We are very convenient for the A1, the coast, the hills & the Scottish Borders. In half an hour one can be some distance away.The train can have you into Edinburgh from Berwick-upon-Tweed in 40 mins.
Newcastle is an hour's drive away & has many museums, multiplex cinemas, shops & restaurants.

Lovely setting, great Northumberland base
Elwick farm was a great base for exploring all that Northumberland has to offer. The setting is beautiful, with only a short walk across the fields to the nearest bracket and lambs at the end of the garden. The cottage itself was lovely with everything that we needed for our stay. The owner was very welcoming - we particularly enjoyed the delicious lemon cake in arrival.

Activity and Interests
There are miles of white, sandy beaches on our North Northumberland coastline. Ross Back Sands, a mostly deserted beach is the nearest (next door farm) but demands a half hour walk from where you park the car- but well worth the walk. Bamburgh is a 10 minute drive away to the south and there are lots of parking spaces. From there you find beaches all the way down the coast. Also to the north, you will find Goswick beach,25 mins. & Cocklawburn a little further on.
Nearest airport is Newcastle (50miles) and Edinburgh is 75 miles away.
The nearest railway stations are Berwick-upon-Tweed (14 miles away)to the north & to the south, Alnmouth(20 miles) these are both on the main London to Edinburgh East Coast Line. A car is totally essential here and car hire can be arranged in Berwick.
Belford is the nearest village & is two and a half miles, Bamburgh village is five miles away, Wooler is twelve miles away, Berwick-upon-Tweed is 14 miles away(15-20 mins) and Alnwick is 17 miles away(25 mins).
The Doctor is found at Belford Health Centre. There are Infirmaries with A&E at Berwick & Alnwick. Belford has a supermarket, post office, newsagent, beautician, a farm shop, a coffee shop, a fish & chip shop and three pubs. For larger supermarkets you find Tesco, Morrison, Asda, Aldi & M&S Simply Food in Berwick, then in Alnwick there are Sainsbury, Morrison & Lidl. There is no bank in Belford but there is a cash machine in the supermarket(open 8am 'til 10pm). Banks are at Wooler, Seahouses, Berwick & Alnwick. There are many pubs, restaurants & cafes in the area. Alnwick Castle, of Harry Potter fame, also has a wonderful garden with lots of water features(take spare clothes for children!) and a huge Tree House with rope walkways - great fun. Alnwick Town is only a short walk away & has shops & restaurants. Berwick-upon-Tweed, an old walled town has lovely walks on the historic Elizabethan walls by the River Tweed. Beautiful Bamburgh is a must with the Castle towering over the unspoilt village, then just along the road is Seahouses with it's lovely harbour. It is from here that you take a trip to the Farne Islands to see all manner of seabirds & seals. Booking offices are on the harbour. Beadnell is where you will find some water sports. You can walk from Craster (famous for it's kippers) to Dunstanburgh Castle, a little further south.

Bookings can be made by telephone or email & will be confirmed by either letter or email. Payment can be made by cheque or bank transfer. We charge a deposit & ask for the balance to be paid four weeks before the holiday date.
Dogs only accepted in Shepherd's Cottage, The Martins, Bill's House & Gardener's Cottage by prior arrangement.
Thelma's House & Gardener's Cottage are Friday changeovers
The Martins, Shepherd's Cottage, Six The Square & Bill's House are Saturday changeovers.
Arrival is not before 3.00pm & we ask that departure is by 10.00am.

- Notes on accommodation: All house are heated by Night Storage Heaters, electric panel heaters in bedrooms & electric fire in living rooms. Extra heater is supplied. All houses have at least two toilets. All bed linen,tea towels, bath towels & hand towels (one of each per person), but not beach towels are provided. Bedding is in the form of duvets & all beds are made up for arrival. The houses are situated away from the farm buildings & are all within 50 metres of each other making them suitable for more than one family holidaying together. The properties are situated two miles away from the A1 road. Outside: All houses have large, safe & secure gardens.Two other properties aviailable. Thelma's House has a summerhouse. All have outdoor furniture & a BBQ. There is also a 'ball play area' beside the houses. There is open farmland next to all the houses and there is a footpath(10/15 mins walk) over our land to a bird 'hide' at the shoreline, part of Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve - perfect isolation.
