About Linda Robinson

I live in Lincolnshire with my husband and two children. We live on a farm where I run a livery yard and so horses are my passion. We decided to renovate the cottage as it was previously used for an employee of the former owner and was run down. Lincolnshire is such a beautiful area and so was the ideal choice for a holiday cottage.

Why Linda Robinson chose Saxilby

The cottage forms part of the farm and blends old rustic charm with contemporary luxury. It is an ideal spot for holiday makers wanting to visit the historic city of Lincoln, go on walks, cycle, fish or just relax. We are within easy reach of most of the attractions Lincolnshire has to offer and only 45 miles from the east coast.

Although the cottage is only 6 miles from Lincoln, it is surrounded by open fields, a river, canal and lovely walks. A nature lover's paradise, yet close to pubs, restaurants and entertainment.

What makes this barn unique

The cottage is within walking distance of the nearest pub and is close to major road networks. You can enjoy coarse fishing on the River Till on our private river bank. Horse stabling is also available by separate negotiation. The cottage is single storey and spacious with off road parking. The east coast is not far and the Lincolnshire showground with it's many attractions is 5 minutes away. There are antique fairs nearby and plenty of famous grand houses to visit such as Doddington Hall, Burghley House and Belton House.

Notes on accommodation: Single storey cottage suitable for all ages. Off road, secure parking for 2 cars. Private fishing on owners stretch of river.(fishing not allowed during closed season 15th March to 15th June). Secure cycle storage. Patio and BBQ area with table and seating. Horse stabling by prior arrangement. Changeover day is Friday and shorter breaks are welcome by arrangement. Outside: Set in a beautiful private courtyard within the owners property overlooking the stables and one fields. The property is set off the road and there is private secure parking for 2 cars. A patio and BBQ area is directly outside the property in the courtyard area and a rustic stone table and ornate chair set is provided for lounging in the sun. There is access to a section of the River Till for private fishing by prior arrangement. Horse stabling can also be provided at an additional cost. Entry to the property is via a secure barrier operated by remote control . Secure cycle storage is available as there are many cycle routes around the area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen, towels, heating and electricity included in the rental. Other: Open plan dining area with oak dining table and six chairs, sideboard with lamp and Internet radio/iPod dock. Views on to courtyard and open fields.

Our stay at the barn was excellent.

The accommodation was very clean,spacious and comfortable. We met Linda on arrival and she gave us a comprehensive tour of the property and very useful information about the surrounding area. The owners were on hand but not intrusive, very quick to deal with our only problem which was caused by the bad weather. Our first few days were very cold so we really appreciated the warm and cosy surroundings.

The property is very conveniently positioned to explore Lincoln which we were very impressed with. The cathedral is stunning and the castle quite fascinating. We also explored the surrounding countryside - there are lovely walks and you are very well position for cycle paths.

Overall it was a really good holiday.

The cottage was lovely, quiet, clean and spacious. Could have been a bit warmer ear!y morning/late evening, but cold time of year. We stayed to attend a family funeral and ate out all the time, but great facilities for cooking meals at home. Bonus, didn't need to use the dishwasher. Hope to go back

Home from home

The home was exactly what we hoped for and more.

It was in a great location for visiting my family and friends in Lincoln and Saxilby.

The house was exceptionally clean and the kitchen had everything you would need to be able to cook home meals.

Waking up to the horses in their barns each morning was fun and definitely added character.

I would highly recommended this home and look forward to returning.
