Perfect for family holidays, weekend breaks, out of season outdoor activity breaks or just keen surfers who wish to literally walk from the property with surf board (secure storage provided) onto the beach! We are sisters who bought and named our beach house, 'Valentyne', in memory of our much loved Father. We live in Berkshire and Somerset respectively with our families and wanted to have somewhere to spend family holidays close to the beach.

Very comfortable and everything you might need

We found the house to be clean, well equipped and easy to heat. Beds comfortable, linens crisp and great shower. Well maintained. Lovely location with a nice walk back from the village after dinner. We had flashlight/torch to get back in the dark as there are (thankfully) no street lights on the lane. Eggs, bacon, juice and milk in the 'fridge and a fresh loaf of bread were much appreciated.

We enjoyed a relaxing, peaceful week a some good Cornish walks! Enjoyed the Blue Bar and the local ice cream, beach walks and watching the surfers.

Listing description accurate and the owners a pleasure to rent from. I would definitely recommend to others and hope to have an opportunity to return. Thank you Ailsa and Andrea.

Fantastic house within with all you need

We had a wonderful week here. The house has everything that you need, a real home from home. There were so many things in the cupboards and drawers we kept being surprised. The beach is a gem and our daughter spent most days in the surf and loved it. Both the unicorn pub and the blue bar have lovely food and the hot chocolate from the cafe is amazing. Thank you for a lovely week.

Great location, beautifully presented

This is a great holiday house. Close to the beach and stunning cliff top walks. Our boys loved playng on the green immediately to the front of the house, which was safe and secure, and they made lots of friends during their stay.

The house is tremendously well-equipped, spacious and immaculate while retaining a comfortable, homely feel.

Ailsa and Andrea are great hosts. Arranagements were simple and well organised.

We couldn't have asked for anything better!

Beautifully warm and cosy

We stayed over the Christmas period with our two older children. The property is beautifully appointed, and provided everything we needed for a "get away from it all" family break. Very warm and cosy, very comfortable furnishings and fittings and plenty of space for all of us. We would definitely recommend this property.

Absolutely perfect.

Lovely clean and tidy house with everything we needed and in a great position. 6 of us stayed at 'Valentyne' for our daughters wedding at the nearby Eco park, and 3 other groups of the wedding party stayed in properties on the same development so it couldn't have been more convenient.

Very well run property with great feedback from helpful and pleasant owners.

Lovely property with everything we required. Only a short walk from the beach and yet tucked away in a quiet location. Two fantastic beach cafe/bars and village shop all nearby. We will definitely book again!

The stunning Cornish coastline and beautiful beaches in the area made it an easy decision for us to buy our beach house. There are so many villages and towns within easy reach of Porthtowan and the area provides a plethora of activities, walks and areas of natural beauty - there really is something for everyone!

Activity and Interests


5 minute walk to Porthtowan beach. A surfers paradise as located on the North Coast. Life Guards in seasonal attendance. Dogs allowed at certain times of year (please see local authority for details). Plethora of beaches in local area within easy driving. St. Agnes / Perranporth approx 15 mins by car. St. Ives approx 20 mins by car. Newquay approx 40 mins by car.

Nearest Train Stations - Redruth & Truro

Car is recommended.

The fact that you are able to park your car and not use it for a few days really appealed to us as Porthtowan beach is literally a 5 minute walk from the beach house. Local amenities are also all within a 5-7 minute walk. Porthtowan is a lovely small surfing village situated on the North Coast which provides some of the best surfing conditions in the country. Our beach house has a contemporary feel with extensive use of wood and glass in the design. The sloping Sedum roof gives it a unique appearance and you will find it is fully equipped with all modern appliances ensuring all your needs are catered for, for a fun, relaxing and memorable holiday.
