Beautiful Villa with Pool, Relaxing Location with Views over the Sea

Overview

Property

Updated: 30-Nov-2016
3 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom with views over the village to the sea

The Almond Tree is the purpose-built holiday home that we had built in North East Corfu in 2008. With one double and two twin bedrooms, the house sleeps six comfortably and has two en-suite and one separate bathroom. Downstairs the house has a large open plan living and dining area, including a fully fitted and equipped kitchen. It is both fully air conditioned and centrally heated, so that you can enjoy the room temperature that suits you best. Outside, the house has a large (9m x 4m) fully serviced swimming pool, several large verandahs with seating, separate patio areas and a BBQ for you to use. The Almond Tree offers an outstanding view over the old village out to the sea (Corfu Channel) and the Albanian coast. It’s a very peaceful location, with plenty of areas of shade for you to escape to if the Mediterranean sun is not your cup of tea!

About the Owner

My wife Catrina (who is half Greek) and I first came to Corfu for our honeymoon and fell in love with the island. We have returned with our three (now grown up) sons for very many years afterwards and our love for this wonderful place has grown. In 2008 we built The Almond Tree, in Kendroma, a village in North East Corfu, which is in an unspoilt and uncommercialised area. Since then we've had many happy holidays there with family and friends. Now we are hoping to share it more widely.

As a family we enjoy water sports such as water skiing, wake boarding and scuba diving. We keep a boat on the island for all these activities.

In the spring and autumn we like to go walking, there are many footpaths in the surrounding area which help you explore the unspoilt countryside.

We live in Cambridge where we run a animal nutrition business advising farmers and feed companies in all matters of pig nutrition!

Lovely villa

  • 5 of 5

Just had a wonderful week at The Almond Tree villa, which was very comfortable and had everything we needed and more, wifi for teenagers! It was very spacious with lovely areas to sit and eat or just to just chill, our favourite being the large balcony off the master bedroom. The views are awesome and the passing ferries, cruise ships and other smaller boats provide no end of interesting things to see. The surrounding area is very beautiful, lots of gorgeous flowers, stunning scenery and interesting wildlife. The owners were very helpful answering my queries before we went and during our stay. The villa is in a very peaceful and relaxing location with lots of lovely beaches and tavernas nearby, our favourite had to be The White House at Kalami where we spent a couple of wonderful family evenings. All in all a fabulously relaxing holiday, enjoyed by all, adults and teenagers alike.

The Almond Tree - Corfu at its magnificent best !

  • 5 of 5

Where does one begin ? The pool became our second home, speed boats from the wonderful Alex at Agni boats, restaurants at the secluded and fabulously friendly Agni bay, Eucalyptus trees tall and handsome, The White House, The Durrells, Corfu old town, our favourite beach of Kerasia, fresh pastries for breakfast from Aphrodites and the soporific call of the cicadas - all incidental music to the fabulous Almond Tree Villa quietly surveying the Ionian Sea. You will go a long way trying to better this magnificent Villa - You cannot fail to return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very kind response to your stay at the Almond tree, we are glad you had such a good time. Our Children 27,25 & 21 have just spent a week with us there; that must bear some sort of testimony to the place. As you have responded anonymously we cannot thank you in person and hope you feel free to stay with us again.

Perfect location and amazing villa.Am

  • 5 of 5

Our holiday in August at The Almond Tree Villa was one of the best holidays we have had. We planned to have a relaxing holiday with swimming, walking and dining in mind. The beautiful villa was well located, with amazing views across the sea to Albania.

Each evening we watched cruise ships traveling through the strait of the Ionian Sea on route to their destinations and in the morning beautiful sunrises across the water.

As we decided not to hire a car, we enjoyed walking down the hill via the " yellow brick road goat track" to beautiful Agni Bay. Swimming in the crystal clear Ionian Sea, perfect temperature with no fear of any "nasties."

Each evening we dined at Nikolas Taverna at Agni Bay and enjoyed the food, service and humour provided by the friendly staff.

Returning to the villa late in the afternoon and swimming in the pool was refreshing and fun.

The villa was more than comfortable when we had three couples stay for four days with large balconies off the bedrooms with panoramic views. The rooms were beautifully fitted out and the entertainment areas were fantastic.

The Villa was fully equipped with everything one could think of for entertaining and general amenities.

We didn't venture much further than this spot as we loved it so much and are starting to plan a trip next year which will include a stay at "The Almond Tree."

Thanks to the owners for all their friendly assistance from when we booked to when we left.

Couldn't fault this villa!

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned from 2 weeks in this truly beautiful villa! Clean, spacious and tastefully furnished throughout. The owners have clearly given great consideration to thinking of everything a family might need to make for easy living.

The pool was perfect temperature and crystal clear, stunning panaramic views of Ionian Sea and Albania! We loved the large balcony from the master bedroom, equipped with rattan seating and even a hammock - a great place to play cards and sip wine in the evening! We had several BBQs and ate every meal outside. Agni Bay is charming and we hired a boat twice, spending the afternoon discovering secluded beaches and snorkeling. All in all, It was one of the best holidays we have had and we will definitely be returning!

Best place for peaceful holidays

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 weeks of amazing holidays in a perfect place. Everything was exactly like described....or a bit better :-)

The "real" almond tree in front of the house is the perfect place to stay during the hot day. Inbetween you can hop into the pool to cool off.

The only "music" you hear are the cicadas....a perfect place to recover.

The owners are always helpful and you feel welcome from the moment you enter the house.

All in all - a wonderful time in Corfu!

Sumptuous Villa

  • 5 of 5

This villa felt really luxurious, the photos don't do it justice & it is very spacious and well-furnished. There are 3 separate upstairs balconies, one very large with lots of seating and a hammock. The view was amazing, and the location quiet and near the Corfu Walking Trail. Lovely pool. As with a lot of Corfu properties, there is a small bit of steep, narrow road up to the villa, and the driveway is steep too - if you are a squeamish driver there is a parking place just off the main road instead.

Location

From the Owner

Corfu is a fantastic place to relax, and we've found it to be a safe and easy place to bring our children. The weather is fabulous, too, and there’s enough rainfall to keep the island beautifully green. The beaches around the island are excellent: the water is crystal clear and ideal for swimming, snorkelling, fishing or just messing about. There’s plenty of opportunity for water sports, sub aqua diving etc, while on the very many unspoilt beaches there are few signs of tourism. We built our house (we've called it The Almond Tree) in Kendroma 15 minutes walk away from Agni Bay, where there are three good tavernas and close to some fantastic little bays and unspoilt beaches. Yet it's also just over a half an hour’s drive from the bright lights and bustle of Corfu Town.

Special interest holidays:

The beaches around the island are excellent: the water is crystal clear and ideal for swimming, snorkelling, fishing or just messing about. On the more commercial beaches there’s plenty of opportunity for water sports, sub aqua diving etc, while on the very many unspoilt beaches there are quiet areas where there’s no sign of tourism.

Overall, Corfu offers a wide range of attractions for just about everybody: Corfu Town itself is a world heritage site: lots of history, old forts, narrow streets, full of little shops, good restaurants and loads of character. Away from the towns, there are some wonderful walks around the island, although some of these are best enjoyed outside of the height of summer!

Coast/Beach:

The beach is a 15 minute walk away through olive groves - or a 5 minute drive!

The beaches feature three well-known, friendly tavernas with excellent dining, as well as boat hire and watersports facilities!
