Delightful Grade II holiday farm and cottage set in beautiful countryside. Spacious 6/7 bedroom accommodation with plenty of character. Peaceful rural setting 2.5 miles from centre of Holmfirth in the beautiful Holme Valley - best known as ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ country. Local award winning country pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Excellent shopping and cultural activities easily accessed in nearby Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield. Ideally situated for walkers, road and mountain bikers or those simply looking for a relaxing country retreat. The Farmhouse and Cottage can be hired together to achieve the maximum sleeping capacity.

Why Andrew & Faye Ackroyd chose West Yorkshire

We rescued Horn Cote - a Grade II listed farm – in 1998 as 'a project'! Two years of extensive renovations were required to bring the farm into the 21st Century, including the external walls being photographed, taken down and rebuilt, stone by stone! The Barn was derelict and housed the farms cattle stalls. We renovated the Barn and lived in it for 18 months whilst we embarked on turning the Farm into our home. Horn Cote Farm, Barn and Cottage stand alone at the bottom of Horn Cote Lane. The properties are surrounded by woods and fields with open views from the Barn garden up the Fulstone Valley and over to the Pennines.

What makes this farmhouse unique

During the week the Barn often provides virtual silence without being cut off or becoming in anyway isolated. Weekends can be very social times and you will hopefully find us and our other guests happy to chat to and provide suggestions around 'what to do tomorrow'.

We stayed in the Farm and we found that the location and facilities were absolutely fabulous. The Hot Tub was glorious (in it till 11pm). The Farm has everything you need for a wonderful holiday. The setting was fantastic in the countryside with spectacular views. The Barn is decorated to a very high standard. The owners were very nice and obliging and had thought of everything. We were a party of 7 and 1 dog - the dog enjoyed the holiday as well! We would definitely rent the Barn for a holiday again.

Notes on accommodation: Peace and quiet guaranteed. The Farmhouse shares an extremely safe and private location being one of only three properties at the end of Horn Cote Lane. Horn Cote is listed and dates back to the late C17th. The whole farm was lovingly restored and renovated at the turn of the century, the result being three unique, delightful homes in the most amazing of rural locations. Horn Cote is fantastically located for guests to enjoy an array of wonderful gastro pubs and restaurants - 2 of the very best within walking distance via country routes. TVs: Farm: 48" in Lounge + karaoke and BOSE surround sound, 46" in living room (off kitchen), small TVs in all bedrooms. Cottage: 46" in sitting room (+ Wii), 42" in bedroom. We also offer a wide selection of CD'S. The Hall has an impressive ultra high quality stereo, CD and Amplifier. The superfast wifi is available via routers and amplifiers thought the property. Memory foam toppers for all guest beds Outside: Large Hot Tub in Courtyard: This is a hot all year round Grand Canyon Sparform Hot Tub/Spa offering 7/8 seats and 4 pumps and 2 blowers. The Hot Tub is cleaned, checked and tested daily. Large garden with 2 sun-trap patios and good external lighting. 2 BBQs. Outside tables and chairs. Garden lounging furniture and children's garden games stored in the garage. Football net and balls inc. We can provide logs etc for camp fires. Car parking for c. 12 cars + overflow car-parking by arrangement and access to fields when dry. The property has approx 5 acres of land plus steep woodland and stream - great for children and guests to explore. Easy walks to gourmet pubs or the village centre. Wonderful property in lovely location

I stayed in the barn and cottage with a group of friends to celebrate my 60th birthday and had a fantastic time.

The accommodation is excellent, warm and comfortable and the hot tub really made the weekend. Relaxing in the tub with a glass of champagne in beautiful weather was perfection.

The party room is great for a large group and essential for dining as the dining area in the barn is only small.

the owner is very helpful, unobtrusive but on hand for any problems or queries.

There is so much to do in the area for culture, walking, exploring and eating and drinking so a weekend was not enough.

I would thoroughly recommend the property for large groups of adults.

The place is so relaxing, clean and lovely. The farmhouse was very clean and fully equipped. We enjoyed our stay very much.The hot tub was fantastic. Owner was very helpful and the farmhouse had everything we needed.

the best hen weekend

I chose this property for my hen weekend, myself and 18 others stayed here friday to sunday. We all had an amazing time and didn't want to leave. The owners were very friendly and helpful when choosing our takeaway! The house was gorgeous and alot better than i expected. We all loved the beds, comfiest beds ever! Thank you for an enjoyable stay and a hen weekend which will never be forgotten. I will be back!!! Xxx

Fabulous early family Christmas

Horn Cote farm is a fabulous holiday property.

We held an early family Christmas celebration. Christmas Lunch for 17 plus a lunch for 45 the following day. The accomodation and facilities are excellent and the owners helpful above and beyond what you could expect.

There were 7 grandchildren and they loved the pool tablel,

hot tub and table tennis. Martin even bought in a kareoke machine so the youngsters had a great time.

Look forward to returning for a summer weekend so we can enjoy the beautiful countryside.

The family are already asking us to repeat next year as they all had such a great time.

Horn Cote Farm was our family home for 14 years and we had many large family and friends gatherings over this time so we know how well suited it is to large parties - the 4 receptions rooms work perfectly for groups with mixed age ranges and agendas! Also, being in beautiful open country-side there is masses to do outside so I know your summer return will be just as exciting for you all and the children are going to love the gardens and fields. Horn Cote

There were eight of us all girls who rented Horn Cote Barn for the weekend; we all had a fabulous time. The barn was clean, spacious with everything you needed to make your stay enjoyable, with Holmfirth itself only a six minute drive away.

The Jacuzzi for us was the icing on the cake! This was cleaned everyday.

We all would recommend the barn and certainly consider going again for another girlie weekend.
