Come and enjoy our well maintained and very well equipped 5 bed villa, set in landscaped gardens with citrus trees, help yourselves to the oranges and grapefruit in season, the rear garden faces south, so you can enjoy the stunning sunrises as well as the sunsets, there's a heatable pool and boat dock, enjoy fishing in the canal (no license required here) or just relax on the cushioned sunbeds, we have a gas grill for your enjoyment.

About Barbara Thornhill

My husband and I visited Anna Maria Island 13 years ago and instantly loved it, the beaches are fabulous and the island is just wonderful. We had recently sold a family business and decided that we would invest in property on the island. We live in a village called Old Basing in Hampshire.

Why Barbara Thornhill chose Holmes Beach

We decided to buy this property because of the location, it is situated at the open end of a canal with easy access for people with their boats to reach the open Tampa Bay and beyond. The garden is south facing with fruit trees and a boat dock, we felt it was perfect. We almost completely remodelled the original building making it large but not too extended, we feel we have retained the floridian design. I hope you will enjoy our villa and Anna Maria island as much as we do.

What makes this villa unique

We personally enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, my husband enjoys the fishing and we both love the private pool. Just to wake up and see the fabulous sunrise and then again in the evening sit on the boat dock & watch the setting sun light up the sky. Anna Maria Island is a wonderful place to live and enjoy no wonder the local people call it paradise.

Notes on accommodation: We provide good quality furniture to all bedrooms and family areas, all rooms have ceiling fans. Outside there is parking for five cars on the driveway and a two car garage. Outside: Landscaped gardens, with heatable private pool with walk-in steps and handrail, the garden is not overlooked except by the occasional passing boat on the canal, please help yourself to the citrus fruit when in season, there's a gas grill, cushioned pool furniture and tables, gas grill for alfresco eating, enjoy the boat dock and views. Utility Room: Another large fridge freezer, washing machine, dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are included, the housekeepers will clean through out after each rental, but we can arrange a mid stay clean if required at an extra cost, feel free to use the washing machine at your convenience. Other: Covered Lanai with table and chairs perfect for breakfast and enjoying the garden area.

Beautiful home

Perfect location and beautiful setting, the house was very clean and a well established and maintained garden. The pool was a firm favorite and got the most use, Fishing off the dock was also popular with views to die for, dolphins passing by a few times made the holiday for my wife. The sun umbrella was broken but with one phone call the the management company a new one was with us the next day with no hassles. Ginny & Jane Es had lovely breakfasts and the Rod and Reel piers food was lovely and great value for money with a beautiful view,

The villa is about 10 to 15 minutes easy walk to the wonderful white sandy unspoilt beaches of Anna Maria Island, swim in the warm shallow water of the Gulf of Mexico and enjoy the sea birds, (pelicans, waders, cranes etc) the turtles nest on our beaches year upon year and are very protected by the locals.


Sarasota airport is about 30 minutes away, Tampa international airport is an hours drive and Orlando International airport approximately 2 hours drive. Car hire is necessary if you want to travel outside of the island, but there's a free trolley bus service which operates 7 days a week from 6.30 am through to 10.30 pm, there's a trolley stop at the end of the road, you can enjoy a trip to any part of Anna Maria island simply by hopping on and off.


The shops at Holmes beach are 20 minute walk, the city of Anna Maria is approx 30 minutes walk.

Drive through Long boat Key to St Armond Circle and then Sarasota, many fine restaurants, theatres and shopping malls, keep travelling south and you will reach Siesta Keys.

Back on the mainland will take you to Bradenton with all the usual shops, cinema, bowling alley and restaurants.

Further Details:

Anna Maria Island is very well equipped with restaurants to suit every purse, although there's no fast food chains except a pizza takeaway, they can be found in abundance back on the mainland.

We have several banks, a couple of gyms, hairdresser's and many shops to keep you busy, the main supermarket is Publix.
