2 Bedroom Farmhouse Gite With Private Pool

Overview

Property

Updated: 25-Aug-2016
Farmhouse Gite in Montmurat, Cantal - Rural Location In Rolling Countryside

Laval is a recently renovated stone farmhouse with all mod cons but retaining its rustic character. The 10m by 5m pool is for your sole use and is fully secure. The gite will be personally prepared by us, the owners, who are available on site for questions and advice to help make your stay memorable. A "Welcome Hamper" will be waiting for you on your arrival and to avoid the hassle of cooking on your first night, we can prepare a meal for you. We are dog-friendly and Enzo, our Miniature Schnauzer, knows all the local walks. It's a great place for bird watching with buzzards and hoopoes, and also for star gazing (as there's very little light pollution).

Great holiday thank you from the Guertins

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from this lovely Gite. The way the property was maintained and presented was superb. We had everything we needed and more. The swimming pool was excellent and it was difficult to leave to go out and explore this lovely area of France. Thank you to Sue and Tom the owners were so helpful and it was nice to be able to speak to them who could give us ideas of places to visit in English. We would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful gite

  • 5 of 5

I can highly reccomend staying in this beautiful gite. We (myself, husband and 2 children aged 8 & 3) had a lovely week here at the start of August. Sue and Tom really are the best hosts you could wish for, they have thought of everything. I was initially a bit worried about the gite being adjoining to their accommodation as my three year old can be loud (!) but when I mentioned this to Tom, he was taken aback and said that it was our holiday and we could make as much noise as we wanted. It was such a lovely, genuine response that I was so relieved and really made me feel at ease. Both he and Sue have the perfect balance of being there to help and advise but also to leave you to get on with things as well. We all loved the pool - which is immaculate and the kids went in every day even when the weather was cooler. I think it is rare to have such thoughful owners who let guests have use of the pool 100% of the time. The gite has been finished to a very very high standard and the kitchen is so well equiped. Sue and Tom also provided a beautiful welcome hamper including beers in the fridge which was very thoughtful and generous. It really is as beautiful as it looks in the photos.

Absolutely Wonderful - a little slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Oh goodness, where do we start? Laval is utterly beautiful - the renovations that Tom and Sue have done are so sympathetic and yet very practical. Everything you will need is in the Gite, but that is also down to Tom and Sue's excellent hosting. We thoroughly recommend booking a meal with Sue for your arrival evening; there is no better welcome after the long drive down than a huge pan of Coq au Vin, dauphinoise potatoes and LASHINGS of lovely french wine!

The pool is really lovely, and we were so touched and impressed that even on very hot days, Tom and Sue allow guests to have full and free reign over it. Our girls loved it, and it's incredibly safe with toddlers as there is a decent shallow end and it's fully enclosed with locks, meaning that no excited little ones can attempt a midnight swim without you being fully aware.

Everything you might expect from the listing is here - and then some. The pictures don't do this lovely place justice, and they are lovely! It's immaculate, and so well stocked that they even provide pool towels, candles, cling film! Tom and Sue have the perfect balance between being fabulous hosts who are on hand for any questions or advice, and yet leaving you to enjoy your holiday and having plenty of time to relax and enjoy their property in privacy.

We will, without a doubt, be coming back to Laval, to that gorgeous view from the living room and that lovely pool! Thank you again, so much, for a fantastic week (and for sending B's dressing gown!). We loved it and will recommend again, and again and again!

Stynning views and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

If its peace and quiet you want look no further. Stunning views across the valley, bird watching, sitting out doors eating and relaxing by the pool what more could one want. Tom and Sue were A1 hosts from the welcoming basket and drinks to being on hand for information whenever needed. Lots to explore and canoeing on the river was a favourite. Our son who has learning disabilities loved the pool. Thank you so much for a special place and I hope the changes you are making will be complted which will make it even more special.

Superb quality gite and pool in relaxing surrounds

  • 5 of 5

Susan was very welcoming and friendly and has thought of everything that the visitor would need. The quality and decor is excellent, so much so that we have returned with ideas for our own house.

The welcome starter pack of provisions is an excellent idea but even better, and thoroughly recommended after a long drive from the French coast, is the optional and excellent value meal on the arrival evening - expertly cooked and presented, including a bottle of wine.

Despite the weather being a bit mixed (to put it kindly!) we had a very relaxing stay in peaceful surroundings, readily accessible both to the well known areas of the Dordogne/Lot but also the Cantal region which was new to us.
