About the Owner

We live and work in County Durham and travel down to the Dales frequently as it is only 40 minutes away. We love to visit this area with Jessie our dog, often with friends and family too. We enjoy walking, cycling and visiting the villages and pubs locally. Peter and Claire

Peaceful and secluded pretty much everything you could need

The cottage was gorgeous. Everything we needed. Furniture was a little uncomfortable for our old achey bones after a days hiking but still an awesome place to stay and we will definately be back

Enjoyed our stay

The location of the cottage is excellent. The condition is ok, though I think it would benefit from updating in some respects. It was perfectly clean and had all the facilities we required except wifi which I would have thought was a basic requirement nowadays.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We always respond to our guests suggestions and have just got 2 new chairs for the living area and some fresh crockery. We prefer not to have wifi at the cottage and 4G and mobile signal is available in the village. Also the village pub has wifi, as does the whole of the nearby town of Leyburn - so I do log on if I need to when we are out and about.

Lovely little cottage

Mobile signal is not that great in the area & cottage doesn't have wifi, if you don't require either this cottage is perfect.

Lovely period cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely family stay at the cottage. It is centrally located, close to all local attractions. The cottage had all the amenities we needed with the exception of Wifi - this would be a good addition - and it was very clean and clearly very well cared for. The beds were extremely comfortable and there was a garden to the front for the children. We loved the village of Bellerby, it's so tranquil and beautiful, well worth a visit itself. The communication from the owner was excellent, we were very happy with our stay at Belly Pig Cottage.

Well equipped, comfortable, characterful, clean, cosy peaceful house. We would definitely return!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to relax as a family with our dog, and we did exactly that pretty much straight away (usually takes us 4 days before we properly unwind)! We particularly enjoyed the private set back feel of the place, the lovely enclosed garden, the beautiful house with it's many characterful features (beams, stone and wooden floors, big dining table, log burning stove and comfy a chairs and settee). NB Take own kindling and logs with you so have plentiful supply.

We visited some terrific waterfalls (Hardraw Force, Keld, Richmond, Hawes, Bainbridge and Aysgarth) and had a lovely child friendly meal out at The Sandpiper, Leyburn. We bought our logs in the square at Leyburn!

Fabulous cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely little cottage on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, some fabulous walks into nearby Leyburn and the secret waterfall at Harmby. The cottage was perfectly situated, very cosy and ample room for our family of 5 and our Patterdale Terrier. The village of Bellerby is lovely, peaceful and friendly. We loved it!

From the Owner

We bought the cottage 9 years ago, because we fell in love with the area and the friendly pub with its pot-bellied pigs that used to live in the pub garden. (Hence the unusual name of the cottage - chosen by our children). We have used it mainly for family holidays and with friends for weekend get aways.
