Cottage in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England -Converted Barn On Arable Farm In Wonderful Rural Location

Curlew Cottage was completed in January 2013 to a high standard. The barn has retained some original features. Oak finishings, natural stone floors with underfloor heating. It is wonderfully light and spacious. Parking outside the door so no need to trek miles with your bags! 3 large bedrooms (2 x kings and a twin) and a large fully equipped kitchen/living area. A utility room with washing machine/dryer and separate downstairs W.C. A wonderful oak with glass balustrade staircase and walkway leads to 2 of the bedrooms, with the other bedroom on the ground floor. The king bedroom upstairs has a vaulted ceiling and amazing countryside views. TVs, DVD player, iPod/iPhone docking station, Microwave, Double Oven, Hob, Dishwasher and Underfloor Heating are just some of the mod cons. There are large areas of glazing throughout the rooms. Patio doors off the main living area and downstairs bedroom. 0.5m to The White Horse (which you can see from the barn) or 3 miles to Avebury. PLEASE NOTE MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY IS 6 GUESTS

About the Owner

Edward and Maddy bought the land and barns this property in situated on in 2001 and dreamed of converting this falling down courtyard into a rural retreat.

11 years later in 2013, our dream became reality and ideas from the many holiday cottages we visited for research along the way have been incorporated. We live 3 miles away with our 2 children and Edward farms the surrounding arable land and downland.

A beautiful cottage, friendly and helpful landords and a fabulous quiet location within reach of many interesting sites. What more could you want! We spent 2 weeks in the cottage during winter and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cottage was a warm and cosy welcoming space after being out exploring the area, with far reaching views across the fields. If you want to stay in Wiltshire we would certainly recommend it - from Olwyn Alabidi March 2013

We booked this barn as a 'last minute' get away and it's probably one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in England!This barn is very comfortable, well thought through with many little extras - Fabulous - May 2013

"What a lovely venue for our family celebration weekend!" It was very easy to relax and unwind in such a place. It was also a treat to be able to abandon the cars and go off on foot straight from the barn. July 2013

Fantastic holiday cottage

The holiday cottage is set within the most stunning countryside views. The holiday cottage was of a high standard with everything we needed and would highly recommend for a family with small children. I would recommend this cottage and would love to visit again.

Great base for a walking weekend

We had a great stay in Curlew Cottage. It has been beautifully renovated with lovely big rooms and great views across the countryside.

We found some good walks close by and the cottage had everything we needed - it was just a shame we couldn't stay longer!

There is a good village shop, post office and 2 pubs in Broad Hinton (1.5m away), plus another good pub in very nearby Winterbourne Bassett. Alternatively, excellent shopping and supermarkets in the market towns of Devizes and Marlborough or Swindon. Many good pubs / restaurants / takeaways within a 15 minute drive of the cottage.

  • Notes on accommodation: Beds have pocket sprung mattresses, fluffy pillows and duvets together with crisp linens make for a great night’s sleep. Curlew Cottage is suited to a maximum of 6 adults. If Wheelchair access is required, please inform us in advance so we can try and cater for your needs. Child and Baby Facilities There is no extra charge for use of a travel cot, stair gate and high chair as required. Outside: Large gardens surround the property leading straight into the open arable and downland landscape the converted barn is set in. Access to permitted footpaths take you quickly up to the Ridgeway National path, with access straight to Hackpen White Horse and Barbury castle to the North and Avebury World Heritage Site to the South.
