Peacocks Villa Sleeps 6 (3 Bedrooms)
Located in Quelfes, half way between Olhao and Moncarapacho, this 3 bedroom unit is a quite retreat in the middle of an orange grove, yet close enough to shops, restaurants and all the amenities of Olhao.
Peacocks Villa has a full kitchen with dishwasher. The living room has a flat screen TV with Satelite, WiFi access and AC. In the main building there are 2 bedrooms, one with double bed for the grand parents, and one with twin beds for the children. The annex is a private suite, with its own A/C unit for the couple to have complete privacy. Peacocks Villa has its own Pool, Parking and Garden, and is surrounded by acres of orange groves in a truly tranquil setting. In season you can get your orange juice picked right from the tree in the morning.

About Martin Silva
Serilia and I live in Canada but spend our summers in Portugal. The Villa was built in the 80s by Serilia's parents when they moved back to Portugal. We did a complete renovation a few years ago of the main house, Villa Peixe Rei, and adapted some secondary buildings to be the Vivenda dos Pavoes unit. We do the gardening and cleaning and when asked provide advice for local goings-on.
Why Martin Silva chose Olhao region
Villa Peixe Rei has 3 bedrooms, large garden with lawn, pool, barbecue and sleeps 6. It is a modern Villa (built in 1980, remodelled in 2001), with views of the sea (Ria Formosa) and the mountain (Cerro de Sao Miguel). Located in the centre of a vast orange grove, the Villa is surrounded by a magnificent garden, with a sunny section, around the pool, and a shady paradise under an ancient mulberry tree. Around the Barbecue, a grape vine trellis, shades a paved area where a table can be installed so your grilled foods can jump from the fire into your plate.
What makes this villa unique

A most wonderful 2 months
We had the most wonderful 2 months stay at this beautiful property in the middle of an orange grove very near to Olhao. The property itself could not be faulted. There was everything you could need for a perfect self-catering stay. You had peace and quiet. A lovely garden to relax in, comfortable beds, lovely eat-in kitchen and a warm and inviting sitting room. The pool was available but being winter we did not take advantage. The setting was perfect, peace and quiet but only 10 minutes from Olhao with its lovely seafood restaurants, harbour, and weekly market full of fresh vegetables, flowers and plants. There was a bbq for warm eveings and fresh oranges very morning for fresh orange juice. there was the resident dog - Max - who we fell in love with and wanted to kidnap. The owners were on-site, right next door, if you had a problem (which we didn't). Lovely, property, Lovely area, lovely owners. Can't wait to go back.
We spent the month of April in the smaller Villa Pavoes. The villa is very clean and very well equipped. The pool was great and got warmer the further we got into the month. As to location, well it was just perfect. Very rural but still close to Olhao. To come outside first thing in the morning to the smell of orange blossom was amazing. It was lovely to be able to pick a few fresh oranges each morning and they were the best we’ve tasted.
We were made to feel so welcome by Maria, Luis, Martin and Serilia. They offer very good advice on where to go and what to do and are always available to help with any issues.
A visit to Olhao market (every morning apart from Sundays) is a must. The fish and vegetables couldn’t be any fresher.
We would recommend the villa to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in beautiful, traditional surroundings. A car is definitely beneficial to enjoy the area.

Activity and Interests
Olhao has some of the most secluded beaches in all of the Algarve, but a ferry ride is necessary, as there is an inland sea that prevents car traffic from accessing those Islands. The nearest beaches to drive to are Fuzeta (15 minutes) and faro (30 minutes).
Faro Airport FAO is 15 minutes away. Olhao has a train station and bus terminal.
Quelfes: 1 Km; Moncarapacho: 4 Km; Olhao: 4 Km; Faro: 20 Km
Olhao has one of the most active fishing ports in the Algarve. The Markets by the water front were the places where all the food was sold before supermarkets came on the scene. Both the fish and vegetable Markets are still very active. every morning you can buy the fish caught that very night. And every Saturday there is a farmer's market with local produce directly from the producers.
With hundreds of restaurants, many directly by the water front, it is famous throughout the Algarve for the freshness of its fish. In August the Festival do Marisco (Sea Food Festival) is an attraction that combines the best culinary delights with the best of big name entertainment.
Ria Formosa is a natural park reserve, where you can visit the well preserved flour mills powered by the force of the tides.
Every Sunday there is a local market in one of the surrounding villages, and an antique market happening somewhere.
