Detached three bedroom cottage situated one mile (10 minutes walk, although there is a car park if you want to drive) from an excellent sandy beach. Small private secluded garden with table and chairs to eat outside. The house is next door to a very pretty 16th century Breton chapel. The accommodation includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with WC and wash hand basin upstairs, and 1 bedroom downstairs, a large sitting room, kitchen/dining room, separate WC and a shower room. There are great coastal footpath walks. There is a sailing school in Port Manech where you can take courses in sailing and windsurfing.

About the Owner

We live in England in rural Shropshire. Our only dependents at present are a Springer Spaniel and a Cocker Spaniel! We have two grown up children. We have spent our holidays in Tremorvezen since buying the property in 1998, so we have enjoyed holidays over the years with young children, our parents and on our own and there is always something for everyone! It has become a second home to us and we are friends with many of the locals.

The house at Tremorzeven was just perfect for an ideal holiday in this wonderful corner of south west Bretagne. The basics were absolutely spot on - excellent location between hundreds of superb beaches, walks, market towns, places of interest - plus it provided all comforts and equipment necessary to make a home from home in a quiet, relaxing surrounding. Thank you to the owners. We really did enjoy ourselves here, and it met all our needs as a family of four.

Location

We had spent some time in this area on holidays, fell in love with it and decided to buy a property there. When our children were young the local beach which is safe and sandy and popular with families was perfect, and as they grew older they took to windsurfing and sailing courses, again very locally. We love to walk along the coastal footpath and stop for a bite of lunch or just a drink somewhere. We also like to visit the local markets as well as going a bit further afield such as Concarneau which has a huge market in the summer, and the indoor fish market in Quimper is quite a sight.

Coast/Beach:

A 10 minute walk to the beach. There is parking if you wish to drive to the beach.

Travel:

We prefer the Plymouth Roscoff ferry route and it is one and a half/two hours from Roscoff to the house. Alternatively other ferry ports include St Malo, Cherbourg or Caen. The nearest airport for flights from UK is Brest, one hour by car, and Nantes, two hours by car.

Distances:

Nearest town to the house is Nevez at 3 km, Pont Aven about 6km and the nearest large town is Concarneau, about 12km. and Quimper 25km where there is a train station.

Further Details:

There are plenty of places to visit within easy reach. We like Pont Aven for window shopping, artists studios and galleries, and the restaurants. In the summer there is always a large market along the port. Other favourites are Trevignon point where there are cafes and where it is possible to buy fresh fish landed daily. Concarneau has a large fishing port and marina plus the 'ville clos' (old walled town) and huge Friday market! (and excellent daily indoor market). There is an organic market every Wednesday morning at Tregunc (15 minutes drive). There are a range of places and beaches to visit, too many realistically to mention but to name a few, we would suggest Benodet, Pont L'Abbe, and Lorient and Quiberon. There are an abundance of good local restaurants including the very local Michelin starred Ar men du at Raguenez, less than 2 miles away and many specialise in seafood and Breton cuisine. If you want to stay local, Nevez has everything you need, including 2 bakers, fishmonger, large Intermarche and small market on Saturday.

We enjoy a short 10 minute walk down a grassy path to the fabulous sandy beach, but if you have children with lots of things to carry there is parking to take the car. There is everything you need within a 3 mile radius, from shops, markets and restaurants, so it is possible to cycle to get bread in the morning if you wish! But if you like to explore further afield there are countless beautiful and interesting places to explore both inland and on the coast, from the standing stones at Carnac to the artists galleries in Pont Aven.

  • Notes on accommodation: The house offers practical accommodation and is particularly well suited to families with young children who are looking for holiday accommodation close to the beach. The small garden at the rear is private and safe and is a good place to relax and enjoy a barbecue. Oil fired central heating is available making the property comfortable for the out of season visitor. There is a separate garage which we use for storing garden furniture and 3 bicycles which are available for use. Outside: There is a private garden suitable for sitting and barbecues (barbecue provided). There is garden furniture for dining and relaxing. Utility Room: Washer/dryer machine, iron, ironing board, hoover, mop and bucket. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are not included, but obviously duvets and pillows are. There are some tea towels for the kitchen. The property is cleaned thoroughly between visitors.
