About the Owner

The owners live in Cambridge with their four children. They bought the house in 2003 primarily as a place to enjoy sailing and to escape to in the summer holidays. However, they now spend time there throughout the year to enjoy all that Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has to offer.

Fabulous Sunny Spot for Bank Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Drake House is a lovely, sunny house on a quiet street 5 minutes walk from the beach. We stayed for the Bank Holiday weekend with friends and our children, and the house was perfect for us. Clean, comfortable and with everything we needed, this was a really wonderful place to stay. We especially enjoyed a sunny morning coffee on the little balcony.

Beautiful Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

We had the good fortune to stay in Drake House for a few days over the New Year. The property is just a short walk from Aldeburgh high street, where you will find all manner of shops, restaurants and a small independent cinema. A further very short walk and you are on the beach.

The house itself was very well equipped with everything you might need whilst away from home. The open plan living area was bright and airy, the children loved being in an upside down house.

Wendy had provided all we could need and was very helpful with every step of the booking process.

I would be more than happy to recommend Drake House and hope to have the good fortune to visit again.

Delightful property in an ideal location

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a lovely stay at Drake House in the lovely town of Aldeburgh. It is a fantastic upside down house with a light airy open plan living area upstairs which has access to a balcony and patio, where on the Saturday we had lunch in the sun - unexpected at the end of September. The kitchen has everything you could think of with a good sized fridge freezer and plenty of crockery and utensils. The 3 bedrooms were perfectly sized for our group of 4 adults and 1 5 year old. Also a good powerful shower, which is always a bonus. The house is only a short walk from the High Street, with its many restaurants and independent shops, and then from there you are straight onto the beach. We also managed to get up to Southwold on the Sunday which is slightly bigger than Aldeburgh, though no less charming and had a stroll along the promenade. I will be recommending this house to friends and family looking for a base to explore Suffolk.

Delightful Accommodation in Excellent Location

  • 4 of 5

The accommodation was delightful with the bedrooms downstairs and a lovely light living/kitchen/dining area upstairs with a balcony leading down to a nice sheltered courtyard. The accommodation was very homely with lots of touches and very well equipped. Aldeburgh is a lovely town with lots of places to eat and shop. We spent the weekend cycling and it was a very good base. The owner Wendy was extremely helpful and I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Just came to rebook and noticed no reviews. Our stay last year was great with the bonus of room for 2 grandchildren and parents for long weekend full of family extras, games etc, delightful balcony with steps leading down to the garden and brilliant parking. Not to be missed. Not to mention the best fish and chips in england within walking distance together with the beach and varied shops and restaurants
