Gorgeous contemporary, luxury holiday cottage in walking country, Blackdown Hills, close to Jurassic Coast.

Bright and airy and contemporary this simply chic holiday barn, is the epitome of modern luxury eco-living. A weekend sanctuary for recharging weary souls, or an inspiring outdoor break hiking in the hills or along the coastal footpath. Set ten minutes from the town of Honiton, the gateway to East Devon, you are perfectly placed here to explore the region. The town hosts weekly street markets and has a fine selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Axminster, home of TV chef Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen and HQ, is just 11 miles and the city of Exeter just 20 minutes away.

The cottage is tucked away down a private lane. An open plan layout with vaulted ceilings, oak beams, natural stone floors warmed by under-floor heating, and soft comfy sofas to cosy up to in front of the fire. The well equipped kitchen is stocked with eco products for your use and a large oak dining table in the centre of the room will display a wonderful welcome hamper brimming with organic and home grown goodies for your arrival. Both bedrooms have dreamy mattresses and are dressed in organic fine linen, the master with an en-suite double shower room and the twin with a separate double shower room. Enjoy the private patio area to the rear of the cottage, or wander through the owner's gardens and woodland where you can sit and enjoy a good book beside one of the lakes or even try a spot of wild swimming. (care must be taken with young children).

We wanted a high quality country retreat on a farm and Swallows nest was perfect. It was comfortable and warm, with unlimited logs for the woodburner on cool evenings. The standard of the interior was excellent and the inventory of appliances and equipment was extensive. The Swallows Nest is next door to the owners, Jim and Lesley, who live in Riggles farmhouse and run the eco smallholding. Their manner and friendliness was so warming and the quality of their vegetables was so, so good.

It is situated in beautiful countryside with pretty villages and good pubs close by. The South Devon coast is about a 30 minute drive and Exmoor less than an hour North. The local Blackdown Hills are criss crossed with footpaths, so you could stay locally also. Can't praise the place enough!

Its beautifully presented, everything of a high quality, light, airy and restful. The location is serene, but easy to access and get around.

The Blackdown Hills offer the perfect opportunity for walkers to explore this beautiful region. The Devon Way, Honiton Heritage Trails and the Heritage Coastal walks are all easily accessible close by.


The nearest beach is Branscombe roughly 15 miles.


20 minutes drive to Exeter airport and the M5.


The market town of Honiton is just 3 miles and is bustling with a weekly markets, traditional and modern cafes and a whole host of tea rooms. There is also a supermarket. You will also find a lovely selection of independent shops and a large selection of antique shops. The cathedral city of Exeter is little more than 30 mins drive.

There are several supermarkets in Honiton and most of the large supermarkets will deliver including Sainsbury and Waitrose.

Short breaks may be available within 2 weeks of arrival between April and October. Prices for short breaks of 3, 4 nights are calculated at 30% off the weekly rental. Prices for 5 night breaks are 20% off the weekly rental. PRICES ARE NOT CALCULATED ON A NIGHTLY RATE.
