Chalet near Les Carroz, Haute Savoie, 74300, France - Very Peaceful With Magnificent Views. Hot tub and wood burner.

A traditional style alpine chalet completed in 2012 provides superior accommodation for 12 in 6 bedrooms (1 containing 2 pairs of bunks) with extra facilities for young children. Situated above a small alpine village, it has magnificent views and is always very quiet. Access to the Grand Massif ski area is 10 minutes away by car at Les Carroz while the Porte des Soleil and Chamonix are within 1 hours drive. In summer, swimming, fishing, mountain biking, paragliding and numerous other activities are close by while Geneva and Annecy are within 1 hours drive. The chalet has a large main bedroom on the top floor with a large bathroom with bath and shower. On the mezzanine level outside the main bedroom is a large curtained off bedroom/play room with twin beds, a T.V. for DVDs, and two further small beds directly outside the main bedroom for children under 8yrs. There is a study area in the main bedroom. There are 4 further bedrooms on the loer ground floor. Each is a double room with twin beds and then there is a bunkroom with four beds and it has it's own shoer and wash basin with a toilet outside the door. One double bedroom has an en suite bathroom, and there is a large Italian shower with wash basin for two bedrooms to share. There is a further toilet on the middle floor. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have direct access to the small west facing garden, ideal for watching the sun set. The open plan lounge and dining area take up the middle floor and have large windows giving superb views of the Aravis mountains. A car is essential - but visitors will not wish to leave. PRICE INCLUDES LINEN AND CLEANING and use of the hot tub.

About the Owner

I live on the south coast of England and have, with my family, visited Les Carroz for the last 30 plus years; we simply love the area for its winter sports and for summer activities. I welcome your enquiries by phone or email any time. I always leave essentials for your use, as packing toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets and spices etc. is not my idea of a good holiday. There is everything you need in the kitchen from a large fridge freezer, dishwasher and alpine cooking stoves to teabags, coffee, sugar and pasta if you find you arrive after the shops close.

A Perfect Chalet! Five Stars.This is quite simply the best ski chalet we have ever stayed in! Well equipped kitchen; comfy beds, especially for those with a bad back; great shower rooms; loads of hanging space for outdoor clothes; warm, cosy lounge with super efficient wood burner and, best of all, a magnificent view. If you don't mind the drive to the lifts at Les Carroz, which really aren't far at all, this is the most perfect, peaceful spot. We wanted a property in the immediate vicinity of Les Carroz as we know the area well, feel welcomed by the local french residents and can quickly relax here. It must be one of the closest alpine resorts to the English Channel/La Manche with autoroute driving all the way. There is always plenty to do for the energetic but it is equally perfect for those who simply want to relax while enjoying the ever changing and spectacular views. The chalet is set in a small cluster of 6 with a large garden and at the end of the short road which makes it very safe for children who can test their climbing skills or toboganing in the forested area and fields across the road. It is 10 minutes from the ski lift in Les Carrroz - not ski in ski out, but the other benefits like quality of life outweigh the quick drive by car or by ski bus to the lifts.

A car is essential with, in winter, suitable tyres or snow chains.

Calais is 8 hours drive on auto route throughout until the last 15 mins.

Geneva airport is 1 hours drive.


Geneva (centre) is 50 minutes drive while various spots around the lake can be easily reached within similar times. Annecy too, with its own beautiful lake, is a must and reached in an hour. Italy is 1 hour 15 mins away through the Mont Blanc tunnel, and Chamonix with its cable car to the Aiguille du Midi (not for the feint hearted) is just beyond the entrance to the tunnel.

Further Details:

A boulangerie and small supermarket (with fuel) are within 5 and 8 mins drive respectively towards Les Carroz which provides for most essentials and numerous restaurants. A market takes place every Tuesday in the village centre. A new supermarket has opened (2015) at the base of the mountain at the roundabout where the climb commences from the valley (when exiting the A40 at exit 19). Other large supermarkets are available in Cluses (20 mins) and Sallanche (25 mins - easier to find).

The Les Carroz swimming complex has been totally renovated during 2012 and now provides outdoor swimming, together with saunas, yoga, solarium and many other facilities, during both summer and winter seasons.

There are excellent zip-wires at Morillon and Passy and canyoning takes place within 10 mins. A french neighbour to chalet 5 is a qualified ski instructor and outdoor activity guide (speaks good english) and, in summer, is available for advice and hire (provides all equipment needed).

From the Owner

The position of the chalet allows wrap around views from Flaine in the south and Geneva in the west. Everyone who visits the chalet gasps at the uninterrupted views across the Aravis mountains - it is magnificent. We have recently installed a 6 person hot tub (jaccuzi) outside on the lower floor terrace which allows relaxation after ski-ing in the winter and also in the summer after the many sporting activities available in the ares, from biking, climbing ( Via Ferrata), white water rafting canyoning, paragliding, hot air ballooning and walking. We even have our own qualified ski/mountain guide living opposite.

  • Notes on accommodation: There are beds for 14 with a further 2 cots. Although the dining table can seat up to 12, the lounge space, however, is comfortable for 8 adults with children utilising the top floor play area. Overall, the chalet has the capacity for more but 12 is the recommended maximum. Underfloor heating on ground and middle floors. 2 baby gates available. Outside: A south and west facing balcony. A small grassed, gravel and decked area downstairs provides space for relaxing and BBQs and can be accessed directly from the 3 bedrooms on the ground floor. Otherwise the surrounding forest is ideal for children. Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer available within chalet. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided in the price. Tenants are asked to leave the chalet clean, tidy and in the state they found it (or better) before departure. Any additional cleaning will be deducted from the damage deposit (see Booking Notes). Other: There is a open plan play area on the top floor, outside the main bedroom, with a television and DVD which can be used as an additional sleeping area for children. This might prove ideal for one family.
