The cottage is equally suitable for couples, friends or a family. It consists of five rooms on two floors - two bedrooms upstairs and a living room with dining area, kitchen and a small TV room on the ground floor. Four of the five rooms have sea views.There is a large garden with two ponds and plenty of parking space.The local area is excellent for those who enjoy the great outdoors with a good range of walks and a wide variety of birdlife. Fishing and wildlife boat trips are available and whales, seals and otters are frequently spotted. There are plenty of unusual arts and craft shops all around the island which can tracked down with the aid of the "Gallery and StudioTrails" free booklet with some workshops also on offer. Skye is becoming known for its eating places and there is an internationally famous restaurant within easy walking distance of the cottage. Live music is played in the hotels and other venues in the summer months.Portree is only 40 minutes away by car where there is a swimming pool, library and cinema in addition to a supermarket and individual shops.For those who want to go further afield Inverness and the Outer Isles are possibilities for a day's outing. All this infomation and more is here in the cottage for our guests plus maps, bird books, books of walks and binoculars.

Updated cottage with amazing views

This is a superb cottage high up on a hill overlooking the loch, Dunvegan and the castle. The owner had the fire going when we arrived. The rooms are all updated including the bathrooms and kitchen so, although quaint and charming from the outside, there are no "surprises" or quirky old features on the inside. There is a french press for fresh coffee, but no obvious grinder. Dish soap and laundry soap provided. Washer/dryer that is very European, meaning tiny loads. great hot water and great showers. Lots of books and thing-to-see-and-do literature provided. Also, the invaluable OS maps which are highly detailed for hiking and exploring the island. WiFi works decently, albeit only in one room of the house, but that's a good feature.

General Skye comments: Be sure your walking shoes are completely waterproof - LL Bean duck shoes would be ideal. Also, we regretted not bringing rain pants as well as as rain coats. Driving anything bigger than a Ford Fiesta is challenging - the main roads are two lane, but the rest are single lane with pull-outs. Fuel is not more expensive on the island. Buy groceries at the bridge in Kyle or in Broadford. the COOP is the grocery store (both towns and Portree) and has a lot of stuff. Surprisingly difficult to buy fresh fish, but there maybe a fishmonger in Broadford or Portree.

Absolutely wonderful- wood fire, warm and welcoming, beautiful sea views

My husband and I stayed here for one week. When we arrived, we were greeted by a burning fire and Jasmine gave us a lovely tour. We showed up late and hungry, and exhausted, and jasmine helped us get settled and even offered us some food to make, which was just above and beyond and was exactly what we needed after a long drive. Jasmine and her husband were helpful and so welcoming throughout. If we could, we would have moved in permanently. Once while having dinner we spotted a pod of dolphins in the bay! Every night driving home we looked forward to making a big fire and relaxing. One day on our trip, I sat all day by the fire reading a book, which seems like a potential waste of time when you're in Skye, but it wasn't. It was one of my favourite days! So overall, the place was great. Clean. Spacious. Great location. Near some great walks and cute cafes are just a drive away. I highly recommend this stay. It may give you some perspective on life, as it did for my husband and I. Can't say enough nice things about Jasmine and the cottage.

Incredible view, comfortable stay

We loved our week at Kinnemond Cottage and were sad to leave that beautiful view. We literally could have spent hours just gazing out at the water, the castle, the mountains, the sheep...but there were so many interesting things to do! Neist Point, Trumpan Church, the coral beaches, Dunvegan Castle, Talisker, Glendale, the fairy pools (tip: drive right through the crowds at the car park and stay on the road to the very end, at the Glen Brittle campground. Take the path on the bluff above the campground and visit a couple of lovely waterfalls, unimpeded by the mob at the ones back up the road!), the Trotternish peninsula (take the hike just past the castle to Rubha Hunnish--incredible view towards Harris from the headlands)...

Jasmine and Ben were warm and helpful hosts, and the cottage was cozy and perfect for our needs. We would love to return!

Lovely

This is a beautiful location to explore the area. All amenities and gracious hosts. Purchase groceries prior to arrival, we did. Great restaurants in Dunvegan, their hours are limited. The views are spectacular from the cottage and the Isle of Skye is a must see. Cheers R.

Charming cottage in a spectacular location

This is a lovely cottage with an amazing view and a wonderful host, Jasmine. She had a fire going on our arrival. It looks over Dunvegan Loch and you can see the castle. Beautiful gardens surround the cottage and there are many Skye-magic walks close by. We also had a splendid dining experience just down the road at The Three Chimneys.

Lovely cottage in rugged landcape

Our family of 4 spent 3 nights at Kinnemond Cottage. The kitchen is fully functioning, but we'd definitely advise other visitors to buy groceries in Broadford or Portree, since there are no large shops in Dunvegan. Jasmine made us very comfortable and showed us a shortcut to Dunvegan and Edinbane. We had an easy drive to Neist Point, and a reasonably easy drive to the Fairy Pools and Talisker. There was only Wifi in one room, which led to quality family togetherness for parents and two teenagers :) The beds are comfortable and the showers have excellent water pressure. We had a wonderful stay!
