It consists of five rooms on two floors - two bedrooms upstairs and a living room with dining area, kitchen and a small TV room on the ground floor. Four of the five rooms have sea views. There is a large garden with two ponds and plenty of parking space. The local area is excellent for those who enjoy the great outdoors with a good range of walks and a wide variety of birdlife. Fishing and wildlife boat trips are available and whales, seals and otters are frequently spotted. There are plenty of unusual arts and craft shops all around the island which can tracked down with the aid of the "Gallery and StudioTrails" free booklet with some workshops also on offer. Skye is becoming known for its eating places and there is an internationally famous restaurant within easy walking distance of the cottage. Live music is played in the hotels and other venues in the summer months.Portree is only 40 minutes away by car where there is a swimming pool, library and cinema in addition to a supermarket and individual shops. For those who want to go further afield Inverness and the Outer Isles are possibilities for a day's outing. Can't imagine staying anywhere else!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely LOVED our stay here. Visiting the Isle of Skye was the highlight of our trip to Scotland, and staying here just made it all the more magical. Every amenity you need is provided* (including a washer/dryer) and Jasmine is the absolute best. Her directions to reach the cottage were spot on.

The views are amazing. We loved all the green, the water, even the sheep! The location is close to Dunvegan Castle and Gardens (don't miss the seal boat tour if weather permits!), Neist Point Lighthouse, Claigan Coral Beach, and beautiful scenery all around.

Jasmine was lovely and so helpful; we thoroughly enjoyed our talks with her. And of course I would be remiss not to mention the wonderful dog Murphy. He made us miss our pup back home.

I don't know when I'll get to the Isle of Skye again, but this will be my first choice for lodging!

*Tip on the wifi use: we kept getting dropped from the wifi until we moved into the TV room downstairs. Perfect connection there!

Lovely stay in a large, warm and accommodating cottage with majestic views!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough good things about this inviting property. Jasmine, the owner, from the outset was incredibly helpful with booking the stay, and warmly welcomed us to the cottage no matter our late arrival. Nestled on a beautiful parcel of land with lovely views in my favorite part of the Isle of Skye. Minutes away from the beautiful Dunvegan castle! The cottage is divided into two self-contained flats, one occupied by the owner and the other devoted to guests. The guest flat is spacious with plenty of room: 2 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and shower upstairs, a tv room downstairs with another bathroom including a bathtub,a living room with expansive views of the water, and a well equipped kitchen including a combined washer and dryer. This was our favorite stay in Scotland, made more so by the delightful Jasmine! Thank you

Wonderful base for exploring Skye.

  • 5 of 5

Mr. Murphy Miller is a most solicitous pooch who greets you as you arrive at this charming cottage just outside the town of Dunvegan on Skye. We were greeted promptly by our lovely hostess, and Murphy's owner, Jasmine. A fire had been set on a chilly Fall afternoon, and we immediately felt welcomed by both dog and owner. Each of the two upstairs bedrooms has an ensuite, with certainly the best showers in Skye. The views across the garden toward the castle on the opposite shore are marvelous. Jasmine can provide a wealth of information on local sights and hikes. Her recommendations for local restaurants were spot on - try the Red Roof just down the road in Glendale, the baking is just remarkable. Slightly further afield, the Old School Restaurant in Dunvegan never disappoints. And a drive further on to Waternish brings you to chef Michael Smith's (formerly of Three Chimneys) new Loch Bay Restaurant for spectacular seafood. All in all, we spent a fabulous three days in a lovely and comfortable cottage.

Beautiful and relaxing cottage in Colbost, Isle of Skye

  • 5 of 5

Kinnemond Cottage is the perfect place to spend some time relaxing in Colbost on the Isle of Skye. Breathtaking view of Loch Dunvegan from the table while having your tea or coffee beside a warming fireplace. The cottage was clean with ample linens, washing machine and dryer. Jasmine was a wealth of information for us, as this was our first time to Scotland. My mother and I truly enjoyed our time spent in the cottage on Isle of Skye!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. I am so glad that you enjoyed your time here during your first visit to Scotland and it was great talking with you and hearing about your parts of the world. Thank you for leaving the cottage so spick and span and hope to see you again one day. Jasmine

Rooms with a view and a perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

The view from Kinnemond Cottage dining room is one of the best we have ever experienced in an Owners Direct property. The cottage itself is roomy, very comforrtably furnished and well-equipped throughout in terms of kitchen utensils, maps, guides, binoculars etc. The owner was extremely helpful from the outset and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We particularly appreciated having access to the extensive garden with its attractive pond and idyllic vistas towards Dunvegan Castle.

The cottage itself is ideally situated for a thorough exploration of one of the most attractive parts of Skye. It is close enough to Dunvegan with its shops, excellent restaurant (The Old School) and museums and within easy reach of Neist Point, Skye's most westerly and very dramatic location, especially on a windy day!

Dunvegan Castle gardens are amazingly impressive, both in terms of garden design and also the unusual and varied planting. There is an excellent seafood restaurant - Loch Bay - on the Waternish Peninsula, close to the Stein Inn. Portree, Raasay and Broadford are all within easy reach of the cottage and there are some excellen walks - both inland and coastal - of varying lengths in the vicinity. We would particularly recommend the short Two Churches Walk at Dunvegan and the longer (10 miles) but exhilarating walk to MacLeod's Maidens from nearby Orbost.

We would fully recommend Kinnemond Cottage as a perfect location from which to explore the delightful scenery, cultural and culinary offerings of this attractive part of Skye.
