My husband Paul and I live in Wiltshire with our family. We were lucky enough to purchase a fantastic apartment on a wonderful complex in Tavira. It is such a lovely area, very picturesque and perfect for our family holidays and golfing trips. My husband is a retired professional footballer. He is now a football coach and I run several childcare business's. It is very important for us to have a retreat where we can go and relax and enjoy the Eastern Algarve at its best. It is our pleasure to share this with you. We have furnished our apartment to a high standard and hope this will allow you to feel comfortable and unwind in the beautiful surroundings. Our family have been visiting the Algarve for many years,family holidays/golfing trips. When we stayed in Tavira we fell in love with the Town and its surrounding areas. Tavira is the most elegant and beautiful town on the Algarve, traditional,with Roman and Moorish history and retaining a rare unspoilt charm. It has many shops, restaurants and cafe's and bars along narrow cobbled streets either side of the river. The beaches are exquisite, golden sand and crystal clear waters, and for the golf enthusiast, you will be spoilt for choice with 6 quality courses in close proximity. It has everything we look for in a holiday, hence us purchasing this property.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is in a safe gated complex, it boasts two pools, decking area and manicured landscaped gardens. The apartment is modern contemporary build with a full range of appliances such as visual telephone intercom, satellite TV, music docking system, wifi, air conditioning, fridge/ freezer, hob/oven built in microwave/oven, dish washer, washing machine and dryer. The apartment is in close proximity to central Tavira, easy walking access to shops, café’s, restaurants and bars, ancient castle, churches, traditional tiled houses a Roman bridge spanning the broad River Gilao. While staying at the apartment you will enjoy the tranquil relaxing way of life and feel totally at ease.

Notes on accommodation: Our apartment is licenced by the camera municipal de Tavira, this means that is has been inspected and complies with all safety regulations. Including, gas, electric certificates, fire precautions, first aid kits etc! Our aim is for you to have an enjoyable relaxing and safe holiday. The garden apartment is air conditioned by remote control, electric shutters to all external windows. The garden apartment is a non smoking area at all times. With respect to all our clients new and old please adhere to this rule. Our apartment complex boasts two pools, one for adults and families and a shallow pool ideal for toddlers surrounded by a wonderful decking area with sunbeds and parasols, well manicured gardens, all for you to enjoy whilst you stay at our quiet relaxing gated complex. Outside: Beautiful manicured gardens, decking area with sun loungers and parasols, two pools, one for adults and families, the other suitable for toddlers. The pools light up in the evening looking extremely inviting. Table and chairs are situated outside the front patio door area, ideal for having morning coffee or breakfast. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Meet and greet will be provided on arrival by Dulce. The apartment is cleaned to a high standard prior to guests arriving, additional cleaning on request, high quality bed linen, towels, beach towels included. Cots and high chair can also be hired. Other: The entrance has a hall table, shoe table and coat hanger, also a visual phone intercom system. large cupboard in hallway stocked with ironing board, iron, hoover etc! beach chairs, cooler box, parasol for your trips to the beautiful local beaches.

Very nice apartment

This apartment was lovely. Very clean and comfortable, not too hot (despite the 38 degree heat outside), and equipped with everything we needed. Great sized pool, with nice gardens to sit in too. We enjoyed the walk into the centre of Tavira every evening. There are plenty of good restaurants to eat at, along with market stalls and entertainment. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday. We very much hope to return in the near future.

Tavira is a wonderful place to visit and made only better by staying in this apartment

A beautiful spacious apartment with all the things you need for day trips to the beach and picnics. Many thoughtful touches made this holiday special for us.

Be prepared, the apartment is quite a walk from Tavira with steep steps. We quite enjoyed the stroll after overindulging in the many fabulous restaurants in the town.

Great apartment, relaxing holiday

This was our first visit to Tavira. We were delighted to arrive at the apartment and find it as described. It was more spacious than the photos appear with plenty of room for 4 people including two teenage boys. The apartment was well equipped: we made use of other thoughtfully provided items including the sunshade and cooler bag for our trips to the beach. The apartment, the gardens and the pool appeared to be well maintained and clean.

The apartment is on the outskirts of town about 10 minutes walk and a number of steps to negotiate. We did not find this a problem and enjoyed the stroll into town every evening where there was a big variety of restaurants and usually some musical entertainment in the square. We enjoyed sampling the cocktails in "Tavira Lounge" and the tapas at "D'gusto". We also hired a car which we found very useful to go to the supermarket and explore the local area. There was always space to park right out side the apartment.

Relaxing holiday in beautiful environment

This apartment is in a great location. Yes, there is a walk into town, which may not suit anyone with mobility issues, however we enjoyed the exercise. Tavira town is lovely. Very Portuguese with great restaurants. Not at all commercialised like some of the western Algarve towns. We hired a car which made it easy to visit some of the other local towns, as well as to pick up groceries.

The apartment itself is very well equipped and extremely comfortable. Our teenage boys loved the pool and, of course, the wifi! However, the ferry to the beautiful beaches is a definite must.

We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment. Tavira is not for night clubbers, but if you are looking for a beautiful town, with real character and great restaurants at great prices then you will not be disappointed.

Lovely Apartment, Highly Recommended

We have just returned from 2 week stay in Tavira and would highly recommend this apartment. On arrival the apartment was very clean and well maintained. The bedrooms were a good size and bathrooms were of a high standard. The poolside area was perfect for chilled out days. In addition the owners Jan and Paul were excellent to deal with, nothing was too much trouble.

Tavira is the ideal holiday experience if you want a more traditional Portuguese holiday. Restaurants are first class and too many to chose from. We hired a car and visited a few of the local beaches that had great amenities and places to eat. Only word of warning is the 120 steps to the apartment but we found that to be part of the experience to burn a few calories after a good meal and wine!! We'll definitely be back.

Nice apartment and good location

Just returned from a week in Tavira where the weather was superb. 25 to 30 degrees for late October can't be beaten. Very nice apartment in good condition with plenty of room. Very good pool, which although seems cool at first it is just right for getting out of the sun. It takes about 10 minutes to walk into Tavira via some steps. As we are reasonably fit we didn't find it a problem. We would have liked a slightly larger patio area outside the apartment, but apart from that we would recommend it.

Special interest holidays:

Many People Come To The Eastern Algarve To Bird Watch, As The Ria Formosa is the most impressive birding site in the Algarve. Large Areas Of Dunes, Lagoons, Channels, Islands, Saltpans, pools and river mouths, a heaven for the ornithologist.

Coast/Beach:

The spectacular beaches that run along the eastern Algarve have beautiful golden sands and crystal clear warm waters

Isla De Tavira Beach - can be reached by the beach ferry or a water taxis that you can catch along side the river in Tavira Town.

Barril Beach, Santa Luzia - Another Tavira Beach, Which Is A 4 Min Drive Or You Can Catch The Local Bus. All the beaches boast fantastic restaurants and bars.

There are many more beautiful beaches along the coast from Faro to the Spanish boarder.

Travel:

Faro Airport Is approximately 35km/25 mins drive from our apartment. airport transfers can be arranged, car hire is available at the airport with very competitive rates, although car hire is not essential for your holiday.

Distances:

Tavira town centre is only a 10 min walk from our apartment. Tavira is known as little venice or the gem of the eastern Algarve with its roman bridge many churches, ancient castle and the river Gilao Running Through The Town Towards The Isla De Tavira. There are excellent shopping centres in faro and tavira has its very own shopping mall. You can take a trip to the famous water park or zoo marine reached by car (45mins)

Tavira has a train and bus station for trips further afield.

Further Details:

Tavira is one of the most elegant and beautiful towns on the Eastern Algarve, it can be explored by foot, a train ride that takes you through the town and out towards the beach or horse and carriage.

Tavira is drenched in history, roman and moorish, retaining a rare and unspoilt charm.

You will be spoilt for choice with all the river side cafe bars/internet wifi cafes, the many many restaurants along each side of the river, or the narrow cobbled side streets where you can enjoy alfresco dinning at its best, connected by the Roman Bridge. Ancient castle, old churches, traditional tiled houses and roman bridge spanning the broad river Gilao running through the town makes Tavira unique. There is a huge indoor market selling fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and meat. Many shops and a shopping mall gran plaza. Tavira is the home for many festivals all through the summer, enjoy a long cool drink at the romantic square, relax and watch the world go by.
