Lovely seaside cottage

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here last week with my Sons and my Grandchildren. The cottage was very clean and welcoming. The rooms were spacious with lots of storage, and the kitchen very well equipped. There is a front porch for leaving all your wellies, coats and sandy things in, very handy! It was lovely having the garden for the children to play in and also, right outside the back gate, a large grassed area with an excellent park for the children. There is a place to sit in the front garden where, on a nice evening , you can watch the sunset. The sunsets can be quite spectacular here. There is also seating in the back garden and it is quite sheltered. There is a large choice of DVD and books for the evenings and comfy chairs to relax in, but if, like us, you are pleasantly tired from days of long walks and wonderful fresh air, the beds are very comfy too.

Everyday supplies ( and more) are available from the little shop which is just a minutes walk from the cottage. We also had a really nice meal at the Wildings Restaurant , only a short walk away. It is a very pleasant ( but longer) walk into Culzean Castle from Maidens.

I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to stay in Maidens, indeed I hope to visit again.

Lovely cottage in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

This cottage really is equipped with everything you need for a fantastic family holiday, even if the weather's not good enough to get out and enjoy the seaside location every day, thanks to the thoughtful provision of board and electronic games, DVDs and books. Gavin, the owner, is very helpful and accommodating and responds quickly to messages. The cottage is remote enough from the main road to feel quiet and private, while still being within easy reach by car of the amenities offered by Ayr and Girvan. If you don't have your own transport, I understand there is a bus service from the village every hour during business hours to both the above towns - and there's also an open-all-hours type shop literally two minutes' walk from the cottage if you prefer just to stay put and admire the spectacular views. We can personally recommend Souter's Inn in nearby Kirkoswald for lunch or dinner, but there is also a local restaurant, Wilding's (which we didn't visit, but which has good reviews) within walking distance. The only disappointment we encountered - not due to the property in any way - was that the immediately local equestrian centre, despite having a live website, has apparently now closed for riding/trekking purposes, so if you are planning to include horse riding in your holiday you will need to look outside the village. Thanks, Gavin, for a fabulous holiday!

Lovely area but property had a few short comings

  • 3 of 5

The cottage over looked Maidens beach with a superb view towards Arran. Unfortunately we had no hot water for our stay so unable to use bath or en suite shower. Fortunately there was an electric shower in the house bathroom, although the sink in this room has an extremely loose tap which needs attention.

The kitchen diner come lounge was cosy especially with the Wood Burner. If you feel cold. The work tops especially around the sink need replacing as they are constantly damp and rather unhealthy.

As the weather was good we were able to sit out in the large garden which although lacking TLC was adequate .

Over all we enjoyed our stay and used the local shop regularly and ate at Wildings which was excellent.

Cosy, spacious, bright cottage - stunning beach and restaurant only seconds away :) will be back!

  • 5 of 5

This was a fantastic cottage to stay in. We are just back from a 5 day stay with our two dogs and we all had a ball.

There was a vestibule for the dogs to dry off in after our daily walks along the gorgeous beach. There is also a park/ field accessible from the enclosed back garden which was great for the dogs.

The living room views were great, beds comfortable and the whole place clean.

Walking access to the amazing Wildings restaurant made our stay all the more worthwhile and memorable.

A great place to chill out and relax but also access to amenities nearby if want a day out.

I'd definitely recommend to friends and plan on returning.

Perfect Seaside Holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous cottage, well laid out and nicely furnished/decorated. Everything anyone could need for self-catering holiday is provided. Large rear garden very useful for us with our small dog, no need to put him on the lead every time he needed a wee! We were already familiar with the area so knew what to expect - stunning scenery, a friendly welcome and plenty of clean beach to enjoy. We hope to make regular return trips in future. Can definitely recommend this holiday cottage :)
