We have recently returned from our fifth stay at Mineshop, and I cannot stress enough just how heavenly this place is for me and my three dogs. Nothing ever disappoints in this beautiful, peaceful homely setting, not even the weather! The cottages are always spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owners live on site and are relaxed and easy-going, but also helpful without being at all intrusive. We will most definitely be returning as soon as we can.

We have just returned from an exquisite stay in Mineshop. My children had a lovely time playing in the stream, the fields and the woods. They helped feed the pigs and chickens everyday and morning collected eggs for our breakfast! We all enjoyed the walk to the beach, and enjoyed trying to surf, we caught crabs and fish in the rockpools and built sand castles. There is so much to do, it was lovely to be out of the city.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Parada Cottage was fabulous. The cottage was well equipped, right down to the corkscrew! The beds were really comfortable and the cream tea waiting for us on arrival very welcome after the drive down. The location is absolutely fabulous, my grandson Ben loved going to the stream with his fishing net, and Hetty the chocolate Labrador was in heaven running in the field. We visited Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac and Widemouth Bay, all easy to get to but our favourite was the beach at Crackington Haven. As it was October dogs were allowed on the beach so the dog and the boys were in their element. I thoroughly recommend Mineshop Cottages and look forward to visiting again.

Coastal escape hidden in a lush valley

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Good Friday in much need of a relaxing break away from the city, commuting, crowds and work stresses. We found what we were looking for in Parada Cottage from the homemade scones, cream and jam and pint of milk awaiting us on our arrival to the luxury of waking up and hearing only birds singing their morning chorus! Amazingly, we had six days of glorious sun and blue skies and only one day of cloud - all pretty good for mid April. The cottage was very clean and well stocked and the only improvement would be to possibly provide a couple of lamps so that it would feel cosier in the evenings. Thank you for a great holiday!

Car: necessary

A quote from 'The Sunday Times'........

'We can argue all day whether or not Crackington is the prettiest beach in Cornwall, but we will agree that the cottages at Mineshop are a National Treasure'

Coast/Beach:

Crackington Haven is the nearest beach to Mineshop, it is an easy 1 mile stroll through the fields and woodland path. Here you will also find a fantastic Cornish Inn, and two fabulous cafes/shops.

Millook, Widemouth Bay, Bude, Summerleaze, Crooklets, Strangles, Bossiney, and there are so many other unknown coves that are quiet year round that we are happy to point you in the direction of.

Travel:

Due to our extremely secluded and rural location we do recommend that you have a car.

However, our nearest airport is Newquay, nearest train station is Bodmin Parkway, and there is a bus service and many taxis that operate in the area. If this is an option for you please contact us and we will try to help you in any way that we can.

Distances:

Bude is 7 Miles to the North of Mineshop, Boscastle is 5 miles to the South

Further Details:

The nearest local shops are 1 and 2 miles away, the closest supermarket is in Bude which has Morrisons, Co-Op and Sainsburys. It is possible to get Asda to deliver groceries to the property, if you intend to do this please let us know and we'll point them in the right direction when they arrive.
