Attractive Cottage In Peaceful Village Setting

Updated: 14-Aug-2016
Cottage in Maison-Ponthieu, Somme, Picardie, France -Many Places Of Historical Interest Including First World War Battlefields

A pretty 300 year old fermette, fully modernised to a very high standard on the edge of the small village of Maison Ponthieu overlooking the village green. The village shop is within walking distance and other mobile shops call. It is within five minutes drive of the market town of Auxi le Chateau with supermarkets and a full range of other shops. The house has two storeys with a double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, a twin bedded room with en-suite shower room on the ground floor, spacious living room with wood burner and kitchen/dining room. There is a rose garden to the front of the property, and a large area to the rear, which includes parking for at least two cars, picnic tables and barbecue area. The picnic tables and barbecue area are sited to get the morning and evening sun. It is the ideal location for those who want a comfortable base from which to explore all that this part of France has to offer.

About the Owner

We bought the fermette in 2007 because it gave us the opportunity to explore this part of France particularly the sites of WW1, and is within easy driving distance of our home in Wiltshire. We have spent several years renovating it and only started letting in 2013.

very comfortble

This cottage was probably the best equipped and appointed of the many rented by us over the last few years. You have obviously lavished much effort into making it very comfortable and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there and hope to return. The information in the house books was very good and helpful.

Lovely country cottage in peaceful village

  • 5 of 5

Lovely country cottage , spotlessly clean and very well equipped , every thing was there that we needed ! The welcome pack of bread, butter wine and delicious homemade marmalade was a lovely touch and very much appreciated as our arrival day was a Sunday ! Lots of places to explore, but you do need a car as the village is a little out of the way ! If you are looking to get away from it all , this is the perfect place to stay ! :)

A beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a weeks' stay at this fantastic holiday home. The owners have thought of everything which makes the holiday so much more relaxing. Tastefully decorated throughout and very modern and clean. The cottage is very easy to get to from Calais and within easy access of the coast and the WW1 sites. Would totally recommend.

Comfortable, well equipped, pleasant cottage.

A well decorated, clean cottage in the heart of farms and fields but within access of larger towns and the coast. Everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing week.

Another great week

Our second stay in this beautiful, well equipped cottage.

Central location for a variety of day trips to the coast, cities and war museums and memorials.

Fantastic weather. The only fault was we didn't book a fortnight!

A real home from home. Quiet location. Very clean and well equipped. I would say better than the description, a real little gem. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for giving us such a glowing 5 star review, but wondered why you had only allocated us 3 stars? with kind regards Heather Leask
