About the Owner

I retired to Cyprus two years ago and now write children's books in the beautiful surroundings of Maroni village. I have travelled a lot in my life and now enjoy meeting people from all over the world. The Mediterranean lifestyle, climate and pace of life suit me well and are the ingredients for the perfect writer's life.

Blossoms is a very well equipped with beautiful secluded garden where we spent many happy evenings. Suzanne was most helpful when arrived providing me with a warm welcome and lots of information which only a local could know. This was one of the best holidays I have enjoyed and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet rural break close to the beach but amid the rolling hills providing wonderful walks. C. A perfect holiday home

  • 5 of 5

This little house is perfect. It has a location in the heart of a charming Cyprus village, but within easy reach of the sea, a beautiful courtyard with the benefit of a shady palm tree, and a fantastically well-equipped kitchen. The bedroom, bathroom and living areas are all lovely: elegant and comfortable. And the cherry on the top is the home owner herself: knowledgeable, friendly without being overpowering, interesting, and wonderfully kind. Thoroughly recommended.

Charming Cottage Stay

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in this cottage twice this year I have to share my wonderful experience. The small village looks over rural views to the sea. The stone cottage and courtyard is straight out of a 'Greek Style' design book. So many thoughtful details throughout made a self-catering stay so easy. There's a local corner-store a short walk away near the village square and a reasonably priced local taverna near the old stone church if you don't feel like cooking! The British owner has lived in Cyprus for years and has a great deal of local knowledge. Great value stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for your very positive review, Tim. It's lovely to hear that a guest has appreciated the thought and efforts that have gone into creating a great holiday venue and to hear that it has been found to be comfortable and village-stylish. Maroni has obviously charmed you and I hope you will be back again soon. There is so much more to see in Cyprus, you have only just scratched the surface.

peaceful haven in Cyprus

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted by Suzanne's courtyard haven at Maroni. She has made a brilliant conversion of an old village homestead into a cosy holiday home for two and was the most gracious host during our stay. She gave us a tour of the local area and recommended local places of interest, restaurants, shops & beaches.

If you are looking for a peaceful break in Cyprus, away from the usual tourist trail, yet within reach of lovely beaches, ancient churches, mountain views and archaeological sites - this is the place for you.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Kate and Geoff, for your delightful review about your stay in Maroni. I am pleased that the little "local" tour worked out so well for you, providing enough information about nearby facilities to make your stay varied and interesting. Fortunately, Maroni and it's surrounding villages offer plenty of different activities to keep guests enthusiastic and you also made good use of a lovely beach and restaurant during your week here. You both have an excellent attitude for the self-catering option, relaxing in the courtyard in the mornings and evenings, enjoying the peace and the palm tree......then racing off round the island to visit the historic sites and sample the Cypriot food in local restaurants. I am thrilled that you had such a good time and look forward to welcoming you back when you need another dose of a "sightseeing, romantic getaway".

Perfect week

  • 5 of 5

We (my boyfriend and I) at Blossoms for one week. It was perfect. We wanted a quiet location, in stylish accommodation and got exactly that. Absolutely everything we needed was provided. The courtyard is amazing, we only ate out once because we enjoyed sitting among the flowers, scents and candlelight in the evenings. We barbequed great local produce (from convenient supermarket and local vegetable stall). The kitchen is well equipped, the shower good and strong. The bed was made up with good quality bedding, including a linen throw. To wake up in the morning and open the window and see the bouganvillia and feel the breeze was delightful.

Suzanne was an exceptional hostess, helpful but discreet. We were pleased to ask her to join us for a 'sundowner' and had a very interesting evening talking and learning about Cyprus and Suzanne's very interesting life.

We went to Cyprus for peace and training for a triathlon. Road running great around the cottage, sea swimming easy in Zygi and a fabulous bike hire shop near.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Bridget, for the wonderful review. It is so gratifying that after all the thinking and working that goes into creating a "perfect" destination, guests come along and really appreciate the efforts put in. You were perfect guests.....enthusiastic, energetic and so busy! How did you fit in all you did? I love all your comments about Blossoms and realise how lucky I was to have you both as visitors to my Little House. Welcome back to Cyprus and Blossoms whenever you feel the need for more peace, quiet, courtyard pleasures and flowers. Hope the triathlon was a great success after all that Cyprus training. Suzanne.

From the Owner

The peace and quiet of the countryside was the first draw to Maroni, with its close proximity to unspoiled beaches and rolling hills. From Maroni it is possible to travel all over the island very easily so I can access the major cities as well as the Troodos mountains with ease.

Activity and Interests

2.8 km to Maroni Beach.

5 km to the new Zygi Marina.

There are many small, unspoiled beaches in the area.

Maroni is 25 minutes drive from Larnaca Airport and 60 minutes from Paphos Airport.

Car hire is necessary and there are many International Car Hire firms operating from the airports.

Local villages: Psematismenos 2 km. Zygi 5 km. Tochni 5 km.

Larger towns/cities: Larnaca 30 km. Limassol 28 km. Nicosia 55 km.

Troodos mountains: One hour's drive will take you high up into the Troodos.

Further Details:

There are small supermarkets in all the local villages including Maroni. There is a village taverna that serves simple traditional food and salads, and nearby Zygi is famous for its excellent sea-front fish restaurants. Try the fish "meze" lunch on Sundays, a Cypriot family favourite.

In neighbouring Psematismenos, five minutes drive from Maroni, is a very popular Mediterranean-style restaurant, Lord Kitchener, with a good variety of delicious dishes. 10 minutes drive away, in Happy Valley is The Classic Cars Pub, with English-style atmosphere and pub-style food.

History is all around you in Cyprus. Every little church and monastery has its own story, displaying ancient icons and beautiful painted frescoes. Kiti Church - 11 km from Maroni has a stunning 6th century mosaic inside its main church and deserves a visit. A visit to the amphitheatre at Kourion - 50 minutes drive away - is a must and no-one should leave the island without seeing the world-famous mosaics at Paphos.

There are many migratory birds including the spectacular pink flamingoes to be spotted on and around the salt lakes in Larnaca and Akrotiri.
