Carr Bank cottage offers 4 spacious bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms , off road parking and many walks from the doorstep

The Carr Bank Holiday cottage(s) have been completely renovated in 2012 for the larger cottage and 2010 for the smaller both are traditionally presented with limestone features inside and out, there is off road parking for several cars to the rear of the large cottage. Before you continue reading the description I would just like you to know the original OD has been bought by Expedia, Expedia have introduced significant changes to you as my customer and to me the owner, these changes happened mid contract without any owner on OD consent, I do not agree with this and as such I have blocked any available dates and am moving my cottages elsewhere, if you wish to visit my web site and book with the owner direct please continue to browse the lovely pictures supplied amongst them you will see my cottage advertisement board with my contact details you can also find my cottages on Trip Adviser showing its growing reviews Thank you for your time please read on. The cottage offers a deceptively spacious downstairs area with a well equipped and modern kitchen it has a slightly larger step up to the dinning room where there is a table that does seat 8 people, returning back down the step there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom, the larger bedroom is an ensuite super king bedroom (which can be split to a twin on prior request), the other bedroom is a double room with a 4' 6" bed and has direct access to the rear parking area with the exception of the dining room the ground floor has underfloor heating which adds to that cozy feeling. Upstairs - the stairs leading to the first floor is a the opening to a large spacious lounge with leather sofas ample seating for 8 adults, there are many features from this room, a multi fuel stove, beautiful views over to Arnside and the distant lakeland fells through two patio doors, there is a large 47"smart TV a Blueray DVD & Sky with sports. There are two upstairs bedrooms, one has a king size bedroom plenty of wardrobe space, the other a twin again plenty of wardrobe space both bedrooms share a Jack and Jill shower room and have views over the feilds towards Hazelslack farm the route you would take towards one of the famous walks in the area to the Fairy steps and its magnificents views at the top.

Carr Bank Cottage is a beautiful traditional limestone cottage located in the small hamlet called Carr Bank which is situated 1.5 miles from the old fishing port of Arnside based in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the area offers many options as there are many walks from the cottage, Birdwatching nearby is Leighton Moss and the RSPB. Cycling there are many routes cycle routes surrounding the cottage, Golf silverdale golf course is just around the corner for the RSPB centre. should you wish to visit Kendal, Windemere or Ambleside all are easily accessible from the cottage. The cottage offers a large kitchen diner with a utility room, there is a very cosy but spacious lounge where you can sit in the comfy leather sofas next to the log burning stove and watch tv, the feature spindle staircase leads to the first floor where both ensuite bedrooms are located.

About the Owner

Carol moved to Sandside in 2001, when she bought her home Rollen Court having renovated properties before she extended her home and when the opportunity came she purchased Carr Bank cottage in 2009 she lovingly renovated and extended the property maintaining and adding many the limestone features that blend into the area. Which is what brought Carol to the area where she enjoys walks in and around the surrounding area (which is an area quite undersold as a walking area). Carol continues with a variety of projects as well as managing the Holiday Cottage projects such as dry stone walling, gardening and garden design.

Great location & very high standard.

Carr Bank Holiday cottage, we are regular visitors to the Lake district and came across the cottage in 2012, when possible we have stayed here since. Our last stay was for 4 nights from 16/01/16. The cottage is excellent, spacious and homely. All the facilities were first class, immaculately clean and in good working order. Carol the owner is very friendly with lots of helpful advice on things to do places to see, walks in the area. Nothing was too much trouble. The location is excellent for travelling to all parts of the lake district and locally the surrounding area is great with close-by supermarkets and little shops. We went with our twin girls who loved the underfloor heating. We would definitely return in the future and would recommend to any families or couples looking for a good base in the area.

Great location & a very high standard.

Fantastic 3 years of family get togethers

On 3 separate occasions for the last 3 years me and my family have booked to come to this fantastic part of the country, with out standing views and a host that could have not been more helpful if she had tried. We will be coming back for the years to come and would recommend it to anyone. The occasions I have come have been for various family get togethers and have always come along with my elderly grandparents, who like myself enjoy every aspect of the cottage, the layout is perfect with rooms of a great size, the living room although upstairs it doesn't matter as you have a bathroom upstairs too, so you don't have to venture away from he lovely view. With comfy furniture and a log burner for the winter you really could just lock yourself away for the week and no need go out. We have already provisionally booked our next stay and would recommend the cottage and Carol to anyone looking for a nice, quiet time away or even a small family gathering!!!

Amazing 3 years of Family get togethers

Look North to Kent Estuary and Coniston Fells

Carr Bank Cottage is highly recommended and extremely spacious.

The split level kitchen/dining area is well appointed and boasts a huge table to seat eight people. The beds are extremely comfortable and upstairs there is a huge lounge with panoramic views of the River Kent Estuary and Coniston Fells.Everything is provided for a relaxing stay and is immaculately presented and maintained. Its position gives easy access to the popular South Lakes honeypots and further north now that the flood damaged A591 road has reopened. There is a good choice of restaurants, pubs and takeaways and Kendal is only 10 miles away for the Brewery Arts Centre which has cinema, theatre and musical events. Highly recommended.

I bought the property because it is situated in a quiet hamlet and offerred so much charm and calm in a way that is difficult to explain with words having experienced it since moving to Carr Bank a decade ago. It's away from the crowds but near to Arnside and Sandside its popular with walkers, Ramblers bird watchers and cyclist offering pleasent scenary and numerous walks, you can choose woodland, meadow and seaside walks all rolled into one single day out. Arnside,Silverdale, Grange over Sands, Kendal and Windamere have their own distinct attractions, features and facinations. The area is popular for birdwatchers boasting Leighton Moss 10 Mins away with the RSPB Cafe and shop yards away. There are a number of Golf clubs in range Silverdale, Kendal, Grange (2) Bentham.

Nearest Train : Arnside at 1.5 Miles Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

If you like RSPB Leighton Moss natire reserve is yards down the road from the Silverdale RSPB centre agian this is 10 minutes from the cottage and attracts visiters from all over the country and is within a carefully tended AONB.

Coast/Beach:

Nearby Arnside a former fishing port, has stunning views across Morecambe Bay to the Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands and provides and excellent base to visit the lakes and other local towns such as Silverdale, Kirby lonsdale, Kendal (10 miles away) Windermere (25 mins away).

Strictland Arms off the A590 - 20 minutes by car excellent food The Crooklands Hotel excellent food - 15 minutes by car. RSPB good cafe 10 mins by car (yards from Silverdale golf club). Cinnamon Indian Restaurant excellent reviews 2 sittings take your own wine and no corkage. 4 miles to Wolfhouse Gallery and Artist Jan Mcgloine. 10 Miles from Kendal. Half an hor travel by car to Windamere and Ambleside (lakeland plastics). Local shopping - Booths Milnthorpe great butchers in Milnthorpe. Silverdale Butchers, coop, chemist. Arnside - Londis and papershop, many other shops incl a chemist.

  • Notes on accommodation: The 'little' gem of a cottage is nestled just inland in the hamlet of Carr Bank, one mile from Arnside where the River Kent enters Morecambe Bay. Having been lovingly restored, the accommodation in this cottage is superb, with much care and attention given to ensure guests will be delighted with their stay. Outside: There are two entrance doors, the utility leading into the kitchen dining area, a front door accessing the lounge there are a few steps down the gravelled seated area and a few more to the parking area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, towels and tea towels included, for long stays (2 weeks) extra linen can be provided.
